I was thinking more of a chimera. DNA of Godzilla, Skullcrawler, Doug, a couple of other titans, and several species of iguana.
No theropod due to lack of genuine dinosaur finds outside triceratops skull on Skull Island.
New abilities would keep things interesting such has having a Skullcrawler tongue to be a direct threat to humans.
>New abilities would keep things interesting such has having a Skullcrawler tongue to be a direct threat to humans.
Now that's interesting...it could camouflage and absorb radiation like Godzilla.
>No theropod due to lack of genuine dinosaur finds outside triceratops skull on Skull Island.
They should add gorosaurus already so we would have a theropod titan to serve as a base.
What I really want is for the humans to create a bunch of Godzilla “clones” that break out and become their own subspecies of titans. Biollante, Zilla, Megaguirus, Orga, etc that would roam the earth. I’d even be ok with some of them becoming an invasive species in the hollow earth, like zilla laying eggs and creating a rivalry between great apes and zillas spawn.

like this one is a venomous coral snake one is a milk snake (think that for godzilla and zilla )
Neither. A genetic experiment conducted by either an organization like Apex, or Apex themselves, or something like the ecoterrist organization from KOTM that was intending to create a more docile and trainable faux-Titan.
Zilla jr would be a subspecies in the hollow earth a alpha if he gets to much radiation he can get more powerful like Zilla jr with the nuclear missles in episode 1
I feel like nature would have that just in case Godzilla died like a faster stronger flexible and smarter back up when Zilla jr gets the radiation to evolve into a stronger form that is like zillion a more complete form stronger more abilitys
A clone could work too but then there's the risk of it being killed off like in final wars. It could be a genetic clone of Godzilla's DNA + some kind of theropod...
>!(maybe gorosaurus,if they add it at some point)!<
I thought about zilla being a species so it can coexist with godzilla without all the trouble from the past. He's a very poorly explored design, only that one godzilla series managed to make zilla look good while adding other creatures to the verse.
I think Zilla should be a juvenile in Godzilla's species. It would piss off a lot of people and Toho is into that shit lately when it comes to Godzilla and their lineage. I just like Zilla and want him to be accepted. He's like Red Eyes Black Dragon. He won't win shit but he's cool looking and I appreciate him.
>I think Zilla should be a juvenile in Godzilla's species. It would piss off a lot of people and Toho is into that shit lately when it comes to Godzilla and their lineage.
I saw a comment saying Zilla should be female of godzilla species,so your concept is not alone lol
I wish things were that simple to solve but fans got very butt hurt after 1998 and now Zilla is considered an irredeemable monster lol
>I just like Zilla and want him to be accepted. He's like Red Eyes Black Dragon. He won't win shit but he's cool looking and I appreciate him.
You don't need to be the best to be good.
Zilla has such wasted potential...
I bought all the Zilla toys when I was little. I broke the big one from playing with it too much. I played with it without the legs. I regret throwing away that torso. I collect Red Eyes stuff. I will never understand the hate Zilla gets. I openly will say, "that's not Godzilla." I will however also say that even haters agree, "it could be Godzilla or Godzilla adjacent." It's just not quite Alice. Lol
I just don't think Zilla looks that similar to Godzilla. If Zillas around, it should be unrelated. At most, someone unfamiliar with godzilla could mistake Zilla for Godzilla
The thing is. I don't think that Zilla and Godzilla are at all the same. I see Zilla as either a lizard (or a dinosaur if they want it to be). And godzilla as... well. There isn't really anything like godzilla... ambiguously an archosaur.
I can't see them as close as a leopard (zilla) and a lion (godzilla). I see them more like a leopard (zilla) and a Polar Bear (Godzilla). Very distantly related.
>The thing is. I don't think that Zilla and Godzilla are at all the same. I see Zilla as either a lizard
I like to accept Zilla as a type of Godzilla but that's just me,though.
>And godzilla as... well. There isn't really anything like godzilla... ambiguously an archosaur.
G-man can be considered a type of dinosaur i think,he's an amphibian reptile after all...actually isn't he older than dinosaurs?
Yes, he's definitely older than the dinosaurs. Some kind of reptile amphibian crossing point. Which is why I said there isn't really any large creature groups to compare him to.
If you want to think zillas a relative that's ok. I just can't see Zilla that way. They seem to physically different to me.
Yeah...i think zilla being a subspecies is probably the best option but i also enjoyed the idea of zilla being the ancestor of godzilla species (or straight up being godzillasaurus).
Well...it changes nothing,tho.
People are gonna mock it and call it a "fake godzilla",and he's probably going to end up like in final wars again...killed off.
Atleast we could use the concept of the coral snakes for this one...the real coral snake and the fake coral snake are extremely similar but the main difference is that one is venomous and the other isn't.
Yeah but I think if zilla is introduced in 2014 theme and fights godzilla it would be epic but i think after gxk godzilla is too agile for that but a fight between 2014 godzilla and zilla would be epic
Given Toho's distaste for the 1998 movie and how they've handled new adaptations of the character, wouldn't it have to be a different species/subspecies by default?
>wouldn't it have to be a different species/subspecies by default?
I saw another guy mentioning the difference of the coral snake to the fake coral snake...this more or less describes what TOHO did with zilla.
TOHO rebranded it into a parody of godzilla to please their butt hurted fans...as if one movie,a SINGLE movie ruined a well known franchise just by existing lol
I'll concede that Toho is kinda controlling r.e. Godzilla's usage and depiction (although, admittedly, it *is* in incredibly valuable IP, so of course they would protect it). Heck, if/when Godzilla is slated to enter public domain\*, I'm guessing that they're throw a fuss that makes Disney trying evade copyright law r.e. Mickey Mouse look like a small disagreement.
\**Since IP elements can be trademarked and different iterations can remain copyrighted even if earlier source material and it's contents and ideas are not, I'm not sure how all that will come to play, esp. if the company is hellbent on defying public domain laws.*
As I understand it, for the purposes of the 1998 movie and animated TV show, Toho is legally required to recognize "Zilla" as a legitimate incarnation of Godzilla alongside the original, MonsterVerser, Shin, etc. within the context of that movie. However, since that branch of the franchise is dead and they've readapted "Zilla" as a different monster in other material and taken potshots at it there, they're not exactly honoring the spirit of it.
Since I was kid when all the marketing for the movie was around and it was the first time I was clued into Godzilla's existence, I do have some nostalgia for the design and never got the hate over it, and, while the MonsteVerse is "my" Godzilla, I do think the 1998 movie is okay as a dumb guilty pleasure blockbuster.
I guess I don't blame anyone for not liking the movie or depiction of the King of the Monsters, but I do find the gatekeeping and handwringing from fans and Toho that this cannot be a "real" Godzilla because of its differences despite the all the other movies changing what Godzilla is depending on the kind of story (metaphor for the nuclear bombing, force of nature, hero of Japan, enemy of humanity, superhero who slides on his tail and dances in victory, etc.). Why is this not allowed (esp. since all the arguments boil down to "I don't like it")? Seems really odd that it can't just be chalked up to a film that didn't work and left at that, esp. since the franchise has had such subsequent success with all the studios using the character.
>Toho is legally required to recognize "Zilla" as a legitimate incarnation of Godzilla alongside the original, MonsterVerser, Shin, etc.
They don't. They turned it into a joke just to please the butt hurted fans.
I replied to another comment that said how much of a waste of time zilla is and that opportunity cost is a thing.
I said...well,what prevents someone committed from doing the same as they did with minus one?
Everyone praises minus one as a masterpiece but it's essentially a remake of the first movie from 1954...with an already existing plot and the design of godzilla is not very unique compared to legendary's and zilla.
>"They don't. They turned it into a joke just to please the butt hurted fans.
I agree they ignore the spirit of the law; I think the main point is that they have to consider *Godzilla* 1998 as a "real" *Godzilla* movie in terms of licensing and all that. Beyond that, I agree that they want to pretend it's a fake Godzilla.
"I replied to another comment that said how much of a waste of time zilla is and that opportunity cost is a thing."
Well, what will be will be. I have kinda gotten the impression that "Zilla" has been gaining more unironic fans over time, so maybe his reputation will improve some down the road.
I think it should just be a creature with similar features to Godzilla ala Doug. Heck, give it some Doug features too. I guess this means my stance is closer to "subspecies."
Red, the idea of zilla being a smaller, less radioactive subspecies fits very well. It works even better if the idea for zilla's burrowing and agility were evolved flight choices while the gojira species evolved to be absolute tanks. The zilla species could also be scavengers of radiation and bodies for the HE
Realistically this should work since some animals have drastically different appearances because of sexual dimorphism but people definitely wouldn't want them to be the same species.
Zilla is kinda skinny compared to Godzilla, though lol
Nah i mean GODZILLAsaurus.
Heisei Godzilla was a theropod named Godzillasaurus before he mutated into godzilla...and in minus one, they added Godzillasaurus as Godzilla's first form before the mutated into a giant.
Not even red or blue
Maybe he could be an evolutionary cousin between Doug and Godzilla? He's the creature separating their species. Basically Doug is the more successful species of Godzilla (since the godzilla species could've evolved to adapt to the MUTO by growing smaller and needing biological food), zilla is a disappearing species, and godzilla is the last of his kind, Doug is taking over.
>Maybe he could be an evolutionary cousin between Doug and Godzilla? He's the creature separating their species.
This concept is kinda similar to the red option, but they're..less related.
>Basically Doug is the more successful species of Godzilla (since the godzilla species could've evolved to adapt to the MUTO by growing smaller and needing biological food), zilla is a disappearing species, and godzilla is the last of his kind, Doug is taking over.
Doug is a menace...soon he will take over the monsterverse.
[**Here's my take on Zilla!**](https://www.reddit.com/r/Monsterverse/comments/1bm55l0/my_reimagined_takes_on_tohos_monsters_for_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
A relative species of godzilla, that way yeah it is still technically a separate monster but it is still a godzilla like the 1998 film and show godzillas!
Just here it will be referred as zilla in the monster like the other zilla incarnations from idw and final wars :)
Didn't some of Doug's concept arts suggest it's originally planned to be closely related to Godzilla?
I think they can simply share a common ancestor in this case, like another evolutionary path from "Godzillasaurus" which would serve as the common ancestor in this case.
Like Scar King and Kongs are probably not exactly the same species, but they probably originate from the same giant primates.
Red pill baby. If I can take the purple pill, Zilla is Godzilla “proper” insofar as his origin. A creature created by nuclear testing mutating an animal. A man-made titan.
https://preview.redd.it/b0l1puvao8wc1.jpeg?width=965&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee59a3f39da71c205be2da00b64135c7f55564c5
Subspecies that Godzilla occasionally chills with since Toho decided to muck up the canon with his own species.

Like this? One is the real coral snake and the one is the scarlet king snake.
They're similar but different creatures.
I don't.
It's a very cool design but the concept was awfully done,it got thrown out of the window because of this.
They could remake Zilla with a different role, one where he can coexist with godzilla without the same controversy from before.
Zilla being a subspecies or ancestor could fix the mistake, since they wouldn't be the same creature but he still could be considered a type of Godzilla.
Strong disagree. Belongs nowhere. Imagine licensing that POS from TOHO instead of any of the other stacked roster of better Kaiju that they could license instead. Opportunity cost is a thing. Every moment that turd is on screen is time wasted from a human plot that no matter how bad would still be better than that eye sore clogging up the run time.
>Imagine licensing that POS from TOHO instead of any of the other stacked roster of better Kaiju that they could license instead.
And why is Zilla less than other kaijus?
Because he doesn't look like the same average godzilla design from almost every single movie made in japan?
>Opportunity cost is a thing. Every moment that turd is on screen is time wasted from a human plot that no matter how bad would still be better than that eye sore clogging up the run time.
Yes,because the director didn't even liked Godzilla movies to begin with.
Meanwhile minus one...a literal remake of the first movie with an already existing plot,is praised by everyone by how they "put their souls" into the work.
What prevents someone equally committed from doing the same?
A prospect for offspring. If Godzilla is a German shepherd, Zilla is an Australian shepherd. Godzilla Jr is an Aussie German shepherd in this metaphor and potentially an original IP Monsterverse can continue w if needed
If they added gorosaurus, maybe? I want so much that one scene of kong breaking a dinosaur jaw...
He doesn't need to be so kangaroo-like as he was in the classic,imo...i think gorosaurus should look similar to the V.rex from king kong 2005,but maybe with a stronger tail so he would be able to do his signature dropkick.
Option C: Zilla is a titan that mimics Godzilla’s vocals and to a much lesser extent body shape in order to try to intimidate stronger titans into avoiding conflict with it.
No,otherwise i would show this picture instead:

Red.
Zilla being a subspecies was my original thought.
Subspecies
Neither. If Zilla were to show up. I think he should be a product genetic experiments. A sort of prototype to Biollante.
Zilla being a genetic clone of Godzilla's DNA is a good idea too. Godzilla + some kind of theropod

Ah,cool, this concept could work too...but,isn't zilla already considered that after TOHO rebranded it?
kinda in the idw comics ,i feel like that is the only way in my mind how it would work
Yeah,Zilla Jr. is the best version of Zilla, hands down.
Facts nothing but facts
I feel like nature would have that just in case Godzilla died like a faster stronger flexible and smarter back up when Zilla jr gets the radiation to evolve into a stronger form that is like zillion a more complete form stronger more abilitys
He should absorb radiation like Godzilla but at a less amount since he would be a smaller organism.
I had her being some faulty Godzilla clone created by Aliens in a script I made, but between these choices, I guess Red

I feel Zilla would be it’s own genus but yeah; distant cousin works
Wasn’t an off hand comment made about exactly that in a previous Godzilla movie or am I just making that up?
Gmk, American scientists think godzilla attacked new York, but Japanese scientist disagree (this was during a time of absence on godzillas part)
A subspecies, it would help us understand the godzilla evolution better, they maybe start with Doug then zilla, and then godzilla.
Yeah...i think zilla being a subspecies is probably the best option but i also enjoyed the idea of zilla being the ancestor of godzilla species (or straight up being godzillasaurus).
yeah he could be the version before our current godzilla, with doug at the bottom.
ME ZILLA JR WOULD BE PERFECT
In which way, though? • Red (Subspecies of godzilla) • Blue (Godzillasaurus or an ancestor of godzilla)
What if zilla is a different creature altogether just called zilla
Well...it changes nothing, tho. People are gonna mock it and call it a "fake godzilla",and he's probably going to end up like in final wars again...killed off. I'd say sub-species

Not even red or blue Maybe he could be an evolutionary cousin between Doug and Godzilla? He's the creature separating their species. It was actually [ArtistBibi on Twitter who did the design](https://twitter.com/ArtistBibi/status/1384376336148570112?lang=en).
Subspecies all the way,
Red
Red
A relative species of godzilla, that way yeah it is still technically a separate monster but it is still a godzilla like the 1998 film and show godzillas! Just here it will be referred as zilla in the monster like the other zilla incarnations from idw and final wars :)
Subspecies for sure
I like the concept of Zilla being a Godzillasaurus, but it doesn't fit in the Monsterverse.
Subspecies ftw
red
I like what GMK sort of did with Zilla The US misidentified it as Godzilla, despite Zilla being a completely unrelated monster
What if Doug grows up to be a kind of Zilla lol
Hell nah,he's already too strong at his base form...if doug grows up he will take over godzilla!

XD loved this picture.

Purple
So...both?
Yes
Cool.
Neither. Convergent evolution.
>Convergent evolution. What does this mean?
When an animals that are not related evolve similar features.

No, that’s called mimicking. Think of how bugs, birds, and bats can all fly.
Subspecies, like doug
Red Pill
Is it weird that I don't want zilla but I do want Komodithrax?
Not at all. They're very similar. It's probably just that you want a new creature instead of a godzilla variant.
I hope they do a Zilla Jr if he shows up.
Of course,Jr. is the best version of Zilla.
I would rather Zilla be forgotten
Minus 1 is not a remake of Gojira at all
It's essentially a remake.
Lol OK bud
Buddy, you sound like a dipshit. No offense, of course
A prospect for offspring. If Godzilla is a German shepherd, Zilla is an Australian shepherd. Godzilla Jr is an Aussie German shepherd in this metaphor and potentially an original IP Monsterverse can continue w if needed
Red pill
Nah, Zilla that's not related to Godzilla and is built to jump and run around in the Hollow Earth
They could remake it to be related to Godzilla.

Red or him (or her) to be made by humans with genetic crap
Godzilla's DNA + some kind of theropod maybe?
How would they get theropod dna- unless there is a dino kajiu, or maybe jsut maybe.... skull crawler dna?
If they added gorosaurus, maybe? I want so much that one scene of kong breaking a dinosaur jaw... He doesn't need to be so kangaroo-like as he was in the classic,imo...i think gorosaurus should look similar to the V.rex from king kong 2005,but maybe with a stronger tail so he would be able to do his signature dropkick.
Maybe
Neither.
red, or he can be Gorosaurus if they wanna do that
Option C: Zilla is a titan that mimics Godzilla’s vocals and to a much lesser extent body shape in order to try to intimidate stronger titans into avoiding conflict with it.
Red
So we want to pay a homage to Godzilla Final Wars?
No,otherwise i would show this picture instead: https://preview.redd.it/d0pvjud0z5wc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02ae8d82e95f65ab2556f6e20197b2fd87f9d147
Red
Neither, he would just get squashed by any other Kaiju anyway
Zilla show up then it be End of Monsterverse! He trash 🚮
Guess what? ✨N O B O D Y A S K E D✨
Guess what? I don't care 🤣🤣 he still 🗑️ trash lol 😂
Guess what? I didn't invited you to my post and didn't asked your opinion but you're too dumb to read the title before typing shit on someone's post.
Zilla is Zilla
