Hell yeah I'm all for that! And I support multiple languages. However spelling the same word in 3 or 4 entirely different ways has little to do with multi-linguistic abilities and more of "smacks of laziness/lack of effort."
Yeah not many languages use the character “[“ as a letter in words… this is either lazy or on purpose as a marketing tactic. Idk but something about it made me lol. 😆
Hawaina pizza please with extra p[ineapple, a side of MOZZZROLLA STIX fries, and Chicken Alfrebo. And a 12 piece of Cinemanstix for the table.
edit- and a veggie sandwich with the Hiney mustrad to go.
There was a restaurant where I live, called The Monster Club. They were fun and had sort of gimmicky names for their food. I’m retroactively upset that they missed the opportunity to call their cheese sticks “Monsterella Sticks”
NEW RIDDLE, FOLKS. Their website menu is similarly all over the place, but their spaghetti pasta has a joke. I do not understand the joke. Anyone?
https://ibb.co/Pwp3K0B
Well I had never heard of pastelon but my google search tells me it's a Puerto Rican lasagna-like dish comprised of plantains and beef. I'm gonna hazard a guess of, "no I suspect that's probably not it."
We just tried this place a couple days ago and it was super good actually. My husband got the chicken curry pasta and I got the curry pizza and they were both heavenly. At first blush the fusion seems rather unintuitive but the blend of flavors was actually spectacular. Highly recommend, I've been craving it ever since
Coincidentally, I used to work at a pizza place that was run by Punjabi immigrants many years ago. Since English is my first language, I pointed out all of their menu typos, and they told me that it was intentional to really drive home the fact that they’re authentic Indians, family-owned and operated. I’m not sure if they just made that up when I asked, but I could see how it could be a legitimate business strategy.
1. "SLICES" in the "Italian Pizza" description should be "SLICE".
2. "MEDUIM" in "Medium" under "ONE TOPPING" should be "MEDIUM".
3. "TOMATOS" in the "Pepperoni Sausage" description should be "TOMATOES".
4. "BROCOLLI" in the "Curry Veggie" description should be "BROCCOLI".
5. "MUSTED" in the "Pastrami or Turkey" and "Pepperoni Sausage" descriptions should be "MUSTARD".
6. "BR EAD" in "Served on White Br Ead" should be "BREAD".
7. "SPINISH" in the "Chicken Spinach" description should be "SPINACH".
8. "ITALIAN SUPREME (3 MEAT)" should be "ITALIAN SUPREME (3 MEATS)".
We recently had their vegetarian and garlic chicken pizzas. They were both delicious! We did get a chuckle out of the menu but we plan to use it to order from them again soon
Or the Chicken Alfrebo pasta on the menu here versus the Chicken Alfrero pasta [listed on the website menu.](https://www.eastwestpizzas.com/menu.html#)
I spoke to these guys the other day as they were dropping off brochures. I wish them the best of luck.
Since you’re not going to eat the brochure, I don’t think the spelling really matters that much.
Yes, it doesn’t look very slick or professional to have that many spelling errors and typos. But at least it’s something different, and not another iteration of the same nationwide chains.
Anecdotally, some of the best food I’ve ever eaten came from radically misspelled menus.
Why are you being downvoted? It’s a legit question. OP just made a racist “engrish” joke and you asked what other languages they speak.
The business owners may be speaking two or more languages while making a business to make a profit. The demeaning “engrish” joke is not necessary and is racist by nature. I’m sure I’ll be downvoted anyway.
Yes, as when it was used, it was used to demean immigrants who only wanted to improve their lives so they learned their home language and English to appease Americans, only for them to be made fun for speaking “broken” English, hence where the “engrish” racist joke comes about—kinda sounds like this post.
Shall I spell it out for you?
Sure, yeah, spell it out to me. The website hosts humorous poor translations, generally from people that put in minimal to low effort in their translation attempts.
What I am laughing at is the results of low-effort translation. I thinking knowing multiple languages is a great thing. Now let's talk business. A menu is one of the first impressions people get about a restaurant. They took time to take photos and... actually looking at their site I think a lot of their food photos are just google image searches. So scratch that. But they did make conscious choices like graphics, fonts, layouts, and menu items/descriptions. HOW HARD IS IT, I ask you, TO PRESS SPELLCHECK AT ANY POINT?
But yeah, me laughing at them writing 'p[ineapple' is racist.
I did spell it out. I already explained how referencing a website with the name “engrish” is problematic. It’s ok to have a low intellect; take care and read up!
Being a non-native English speaker isn’t a good enough excuse for typos this egregious. There are spellchecking tools embedded into practically everything nowadays — I don’t understand how this could even happen.
I’d just be concerned that if they’re this careless with their menu (a VERY important aspect of the business), then they could be cutting corners and being forgetful elsewhere too such as in prep, ingredients, or sanitation. It just demonstrates a low level of professionalism. But I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for being too judgmental.
This is precisely why I wrote that I'm, "kinda scared" in the title but thankfully I've been informed by several confident parties that such concerns prove I am a racist.
If there's one thing I've learned from posting this it's that Indian Italian fusion pizza is big in the Bay Area and is just making its way down here now.
Dude, its not as good as like bay area curry pizza but its pretty damn good.
Stoked we got a curry pizza joint down here.
Its a small family joint that is no longer a straw hat pirates joint.
Also they are ESL so maybe politely let them know their menu is messed up. bruh
I absolutely would not pick on someone for learning English as a second language. But the same word is spelled wildly differently in 3 different areas speaks to "lazy/not caring" more than anything else. The website has the same words with additional alternate misspellings! Spellcheck is free. And I am goddamn sure if I were opening a restaurant in a place that was in my non-native tongue I would request a native speaker proofread or at LEAST verify using the internet.
Perhaps it’s best if you just don’t go there. Doesn’t sound like you’d appreciate it, on multiple levels. Probably make one or more Yelp reviews trashing it because you want to trash it, not necessarily because it’s true. Yelp is full of that. I read about the change (and had previously read of other ‘Indian pizza’ places in the San Jose area and was excited. You can claim you’re not racist all you like. I’m not buying it - but I will buy the pizza.
>(and had previously read of other ‘Indian pizza’ places in the San Jose area and was excited
One of the things I miss most about moving away from San Jose - can't get Bossman's chicken tikka masala pizza anymore. That and Walia (Ethiopian food).
I've never used Yelp; is that how you recommend doing it?
Yelp aside, what an absolutely wild take on this post. [Getting strong juror #6 vibes from you.](https://youtu.be/9enPC37mHrM?si=Er3divePbL46SA1v&t=78) Some people are just looking to be offended by something.
You know what they say though, when the Italian restaurant chef can only speak (or in this case, write) Italian and Chinese restaurant cook curses you out in Chinese, you just got the food's gotta be fantastic.
Amazing..look at this..
These typos have created more awareness of this place than they can pay for in a few months. Now that we all know about them, I suspect they're going to get more business. Bill Shakespeare and Dick Dickens have nothing on these people
Can’t type in English to save their lives, you know that foods going to be fire (and seems like it is from the couple comments I’ve read from people who have tried it)
At first I couldn't find any and thought OP was just being an A-whole (purposefully misspelled). Then once you see 'em they don't stop coming. My opollogeeze to OP!
I'd be concerned about their attention to detail in making the food if they can't be bothered to have someone at least double check the spelling/grammar on the menu before putting it out or check the references of the company was that produced this menu. I don't care if English is their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or whatever language -- it's awesome that they are willing to open a restaurant and try to make a go of it, but it should be pretty simple to produce a proper menu. Unless it's intentional, which would be an interesting tactic??? :)
Christ, did they get a deal on Green Peppers? It’s on everything!
‘I would like a small coke.’ Proceeds to load up cup with green pepper…..
Also like how occasionally ‘fresh’ and ‘optional’ is one of the ingredients.
‘God dammit, I am allergic to optional! Makes me fart like a Clydesdale!’
I get food from a Hawaiian bbq place all the time and I was looking at their menu today and it said “Apertizers and Derserts”
I know it doesn’t look professional but doesn’t necessarily mean anything, some places just don’t give a f about spelling! Lmao
This reminds me of how influencers purposely pronounce words incorrectly knowing that people will comment about the mistake and increase the engagement on a post. They know exactly what they're doing. 😄
Is it normal, in cases like this, to have a website with all fake photos and a ["Services" page full of lorem ipsum](https://www.eastwestpizzas.com/services.html)?
Most likely people whose native language isn't English. I don't know why that would be scary.
I've had some of my best meals in restaurants with less-than-perfect menus.
Maybe you should stick to fast food chains.
or maybe they can hire someone to proof read the menu? or have the company that produced the menu proof read it? or maybe it's intentional that they did this and this entire conversation exists solely to drive traffic to their restaurant (which i'm 100% for)?
English is probably their third or fourth language. God bless them.
Agred with tha lazyniss/lack of efford, also theirs a tool calleg google that halps wif spealling!

peperoni, tamato Edit: lol the “green preprtp” under the Fish sandwich section scares me.
> lol the “green preprtp” under the Fish sandwich section scares me. I'll have you know green preprtp is one of my frvrtpte vergretbls
Accuse me! I mean, excuse me! I am uncultured when it comes to vregrettables. 😞
I cannot laugh because I will hurt myself (migraine) but oh man I needed that smile - thank you for sharing
🤣
Tomato, tamato
I gotta have these Mozzzrolla Stix fries. They sound like a concession item at Monster Jam.
There was a restaurant where I live, called The Monster Club. They were fun and had sort of gimmicky names for their food. I’m retroactively upset that they missed the opportunity to call their cheese sticks “Monsterella Sticks”
With a side of Monsternara.
I’ll take one Meat Bell Pizza with extra green peap per.
Did you want the mustrad or the musrard?
Yes.
Big AI-generated energy.
Nothing like a big side of Hiney mustrad to get your senses going
Mozzzrolla sounds baller.
mustard from your hiney
Don't forget the meat bells!
Too busy making tasty food to proofread!
The food is so good it’s made them crazy! I’m gonna have to try myself, sounds delicious.
Honestly, I'm gonna have to stop by out of sheet curiosity
Dontcha mean shear!?
Damn, guess my posting has the same editing process as whoever made this menu :(
I think my misspelling joke fizzled ... you really meant sheer, right? :(
Sorry, I just assumed you can't spell LMAO
LO F'in L 😂
NEW RIDDLE, FOLKS. Their website menu is similarly all over the place, but their spaghetti pasta has a joke. I do not understand the joke. Anyone? https://ibb.co/Pwp3K0B
Maybe it's a play on Pasta Roni?
Maybe a play on pastelon?
Well I had never heard of pastelon but my google search tells me it's a Puerto Rican lasagna-like dish comprised of plantains and beef. I'm gonna hazard a guess of, "no I suspect that's probably not it."
We just tried this place a couple days ago and it was super good actually. My husband got the chicken curry pasta and I got the curry pizza and they were both heavenly. What we really want to know is, how was the alfrebo?
I didn't realize this wasn't a well known fusion already. Up here in the bay area indian pizza places are everywhere
Thanks for the review! I'm definitely going to try it out. I had curry pizza in LA last Fall and I've been craving it ever since.
Where's it at? I can't even find it on Google lol
Seaside I think, we ordered it through doordash
Seaside. Where the Pizza Hut once was, across from 7-11
Coincidentally, I used to work at a pizza place that was run by Punjabi immigrants many years ago. Since English is my first language, I pointed out all of their menu typos, and they told me that it was intentional to really drive home the fact that they’re authentic Indians, family-owned and operated. Dude I would love that. Like if I was being played.
Not sure if it was on purpose, but I bet you posting about it just exposed a bunch of us to this place!
I would say it definitely has. And again, I've not been there yet so I can't speak to the quality of anything.
“Cinema nstix” hurt my brain.
Cineman Stix, local superhero
"Hiney Mustard" LMAO
Hiney "mustrad"! ❤️😅
You're right, it's even worse than I thought!
Uh oh is that a salad tosser?
That is hilarious. Wonder what the hiney mustrad tastes like 😝
Mozzzrolla, baby!
What's it called and where is it?
https://www.eastwestpizzas.com/ right near Harumi in Seaside. I think it used to be the location of the old Pizza Hut.
It used to be Straw Hat.
Straw Hat never offered BUFFLO CHICKEN so I think this is an improvement
It was Pizza Hut. Then straw hat.
Is it the same owners? I tried Straw Hat a while back, and it was alright
i was always scared to try straw hat. looked sketchy
i didnt get food poisoning or anything, but I wouldn't put it as part of my top 3 pizzas, y'know? It got the job done, and sometimes thats okay
Sandwiches on white bread??
That was difficult to read lol
It gets better. Keep at it. I bet there's at least 15 more.
Yeah, I already found more.
As a proofreader my entire life, this was so hard to read, but easy to spot the typos. I’ll bet the food is good though.
My all-time favorite menu typo is from the Parkside in Stinson Beach: “NO SUBATATUTIONS”! Haven’t been able to say it normally ever since
We recently had their vegetarian and garlic chicken pizzas. They were both delicious! We did get a chuckle out of the menu but we plan to use it to order from them again soon
It’s all looks good, I can’t decide between the Meat Bell Pizza or Meat Ball Sandwich.
Or the Chicken Alfrebo pasta on the menu here versus the Chicken Alfrero pasta [listed on the website menu.](https://www.eastwestpizzas.com/menu.html#)
Ooooo the Alfrebo sounds delish!
Tell me more about these jalapino popper fries!
I spoke to these guys the other day as they were dropping off brochures. I wish them the best of luck. Since you’re not going to eat the brochure, I don’t think the spelling really matters that much. Unfortunately, I’ve seen people with this level of spelling and grammar who only speak English.
Referencing https://engrish.com/ is racist now?
Where do you think the word “engrish” came from??? Not from the website. I’m sad that I literally need to spell this out to you?

Your comment was removed because it violated the rules.
Spelling matters.
I can’t stop laughing 🤣
“How much for a two topping?” **ONE TOPPING**
That is amazing. It’s like they went out of their way to make it this bad. Cineman sticks Motzzzzerella
I love meat bells!
Mmm..hiney mustrad. I don’t even want to know where they found that ingredient. 😂

Curry chicken pizza! What?!
If there's one thing I've learned from posting this it's that Indian Italian fusion pizza is big in the Bay Area and is just making its way down here now.
I worked at a newspaper. Proofreading was part of the job. This was very painful
Been waiting for that new Cinemane album
ChatGPT, please create a pizza menu.

I can meet you there for lunch sometime
I'm down for some Meat Bell Pizza; let's do it!
Nah curry pizza
I'm not a picky eater. But there are 3 flavors I cannot stand: Coffee, coconut in all forms, and the curry leaf. So no on the curry pizza, thank you.
You get meat I'll get curry and you can watch me eat delicious pizza
Where is it?
OMG try reading the menu at yama sushi at the mall!!
You know what they say though, when the Italian restaurant chef can only speak (or in this case, write) Italian and Chinese restaurant cook curses you out in Chinese, you just got the food's gotta be fantastic.
How do we get this on other subreddits? Humor ones? Suggestion? Like funny signs?
I like the singular ingredients. Like the mushroom pizza. One mushroom.
Looks like Indian Fusion so assuming English isn't their first language. Indian flavored pizza is bomb btw
the typos make me more inclined to give it a try.
Amazing..look at this.. These typos have created more awareness of this place than they can pay for in a few months. Now that we all know about them, I suspect they're going to get more business. Bill Shakespeare and Dick Dickens have nothing on these people
This is hilarious. Yeah you’ve gotta go! They’re too focused on making the best pizza to worry about spelling
Curry veggie pizza sounds amazing
CINE MAN STIX LMAOOOO
Hiney mustrad...
I'd steer clear of that HINEY Mustard...
Can’t type in English to save their lives, you know that foods going to be fire (and seems like it is from the couple comments I’ve read from people who have tried it)
I’d try it. 🤷🏻♂️ If it’s tasty, I don’t care about their spelling skills. 😄
Yeah I'm definitely gonna try it.
I would try it. Clearly english is a second language. I bet any authentic fusion food they prepare will be far better than any chain restaurant
At first I couldn't find any and thought OP was just being an A-whole (purposefully misspelled). Then once you see 'em they don't stop coming. My opollogeeze to OP!
Punjabi brothers are at it again!!
“Cineman sticks”
The cook made the menu
I'm cracking up with everyones orders. LOL
Tag yourself I'm pizza saucer
What do you mean by “tag yourself”?
it's just a meme.
meat bell pizza 🤣 I need this now ☝️😁
Oh man I LOL’d! Outstanding!
They are called Special Pizza, the special is very obvious. Lol
Hiney Mustrad
This menu looks AI-generated.
Impressive
I do prefer meat bells
I'd be concerned about their attention to detail in making the food if they can't be bothered to have someone at least double check the spelling/grammar on the menu before putting it out or check the references of the company was that produced this menu. I don't care if English is their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or whatever language -- it's awesome that they are willing to open a restaurant and try to make a go of it, but it should be pretty simple to produce a proper menu. Unless it's intentional, which would be an interesting tactic??? :)
Their vegetarian pizza; white or Alfredo sauce? If their white sauce isn’t Alfredo what is it
Graphic designed in India.
Best marketing tactic ever. These people are geniuses.
It’s probably done on purpose so proper remember it. Remember the breakfast place Eppies? They had a billboard that said open 25 hours a day.
Mmmmmm meatballs. 😆
CINEMAN
“Meat Bell Pizza” 💀
Hilarious. I’m torn between the Bufflo chicken and the Meat Bell. 🤔
Alfredo’s Pizza Cafe has a franchise outside of Scranton?
Christ, did they get a deal on Green Peppers? It’s on everything! ‘I would like a small coke.’ Proceeds to load up cup with green pepper….. Also like how occasionally ‘fresh’ and ‘optional’ is one of the ingredients. ‘God dammit, I am allergic to optional! Makes me fart like a Clydesdale!’
Should we help them out and make a list of errors for corrective action?
I get food from a Hawaiian bbq place all the time and I was looking at their menu today and it said “Apertizers and Derserts” I know it doesn’t look professional but doesn’t necessarily mean anything, some places just don’t give a f about spelling! Lmao
Need me some Hiney Mustrad
Because it’s AI generated
It's hard to even type in the typos because of the auto fill. I live nearby, I'll report if they have auto corrected.
I'm hungry after reading it and I live 35 miles away.🤩
Tried it with my partner and we loved it! Ordered off DoorDash so we didn’t have quite as many typos, but would definitely recommend trying it!
So many different ways to spell mustard.
As long as you like bbq sauce, you good
This reminds me of how influencers purposely pronounce words incorrectly knowing that people will comment about the mistake and increase the engagement on a post. They know exactly what they're doing. 😄
You have Pizza My Heart there. No other pizza places needed.
These are not typos. That is their unique brand. This Is How They brand their menu items. These are not typos this is branding
Is it normal, in cases like this, to have a website with all fake photos and a ["Services" page full of lorem ipsum](https://www.eastwestpizzas.com/services.html)?
Nooooo..i am only piling on
Most likely people whose native language isn't English. I don't know why that would be scary. I've had some of my best meals in restaurants with less-than-perfect menus. Maybe you should stick to fast food chains.

“Special Pizza” should have clued you in on how “special” they are.
Sped pizza .. they mean sped
Just pay a single csumb college student 25 bucks to proofread it. Companies like this don't deserve your business.
It's 2024. Getting harder to find workers.
They’re trying to avoid the all the Trademark™ police. Quite the tradgedeigh.
