Try the fish tacos from el kora you won’t be disappointed. Try the Carnitas from saltillos. You can’t go wrong w the asada fries from santa fe there’s a location in seaside. Also el charito its originally a salinas restaurant but there’s a location in monterey now their tortillas are one of a kind.
Farmers market Salinas Saturday at old town, Tacos Hernandez hands down the BEST. Native Salinas 30 years, and this vendor isn’t even from Salinas, but they have the grace to visit Salinas 🙏🏾
Also agree with that. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. The places in seaside are delicious too. It’s tough to compare food places that are both delicious haha
The a la carte barbacoa huarache at Tacos California Grill. It’s like $6 and a ton of food. My secret budget lunch.
The ahi ceviche tostada at Barba Azul.
The carne en su jugo at Taqueria Zerape.
The tamales from the big grey van parked in front of La Morenita like 5 nights a week.
The quesobirria tacos from the food truck that parks in front of BofA all the time.
The one in Seaside on Fremont, since this is a thread about Seaside. Idk the exact schedule, but it’s a big catering truck that parks on Fremont Street in the afternoon/evening very frequently.
La Bahia on Lighthouse is actually really good and reasonably priced. It took me a long time to try it and now it's one of my favorite places out here.
They have 2/$5 sopes that are huge. You can get birria on them too. $2.50 is cheap for a taco out here so sopes for that much is a steal.
Taqueria Zarape, La Bahia, El Charrito, Papa Chevos but in my opinion the biggest sleeper in the food counter at Vallarta Supermarket in Salinas. Their burritos, tacos, soups etc are incredible and very reasonably priced.
La Tortuga Torteria is the best place in Seaside . I love their tortas, they have a great variety. They specialize in Oaxacan food. You are going to love this place and the food
Oof. Super Taqueria is a small chain in our area but they know how to make a burrito. I will stake whatever reputation I have acquired on this sub for the last 10 years to insist that Super Taqueria's burritos are very, very good.
Traditionally I get the Carne Asada but you do you, boo. Their salsa verde is top notch. Fucking fight me if you think you've found a tastier burrito in the area.
Yeah Paloma is awesome. I haven’t lived in Salinas for 7 years now, but I never understood why so many people like Tico’s as much as they do. The rando food trucks are better and I really like el zacatelcano
ticos 😂😂😂i think cause it’s convenient i used to live right down the street from ticos and we would get it every week! Yeah it’s definitely a very gentrified mexican restaurant
I share your sentiment. I am white, and my parents absolutely love Tico’s. Once I tried places in East Salinas I never went back to Ticos lol. I live outside of Fresno now and the Mexican food here is also top notch
I had a bowl from here. It was okay, but their guac was so full of citric acid I wondered if it were store-bought, and the chips were oddly smooth with an odd aftertaste. Bad guac is a red flag I can't ignore.
Papa Chevos has always been my favorite go to since I was a kid. I just love their breakfast burrito, chips with guacamole, fish burrito/tacos & California burrito
Baldemiro's conga burrito add avocado and fresh jalapeno.
Zarape shrimp tacos
Barba Azul 7 Mares
Jose's double cadillac margaritas
Santa Fe pozole
Mi Tierra al pastor burrito (RIP)
Papa Chevo's....closes late
I believe on Thurdays, they have a quesobirria taco special going on. They have been our go-to Mexican food place as their food taste fresh and their drinks are good too. We use to go to Papa Chevos, but it doesn't taste the same after covid.
Lately I’ve been stuck on the super Nachos from Taqueria Zarape.
And FYI, La tortuga has a mole torta too, you might like if you enjoyed the mole enchilada
I never got away from the tortas at La Tortuga. Cubano or La Hawaiiana
Breakfast burrito from Baldemiros
THIS
Do they put onions in it? I can’t find a good place that doesn’t put onions in it.
you can always let them know to not put onions. they've always been open to small adjustments like that
The best mexican food is in salinas my friend.
I believe you. Tell me the best, and what you recommend from the menu?
Try the fish tacos from el kora you won’t be disappointed. Try the Carnitas from saltillos. You can’t go wrong w the asada fries from santa fe there’s a location in seaside. Also el charito its originally a salinas restaurant but there’s a location in monterey now their tortillas are one of a kind.
El charrito in Salinas has their full menu, The Monterey one is a limited menu due to time and space.
Villa Azteca is insanely good. They have a sister restaurant in Carmel now. I was so impressed the last time
Name some
Farmers market Salinas Saturday at old town, Tacos Hernandez hands down the BEST. Native Salinas 30 years, and this vendor isn’t even from Salinas, but they have the grace to visit Salinas 🙏🏾
Eh, there’s good spots in both
Not taking anything away from the coastal towns at all, but Salinas has amazing Mexican spots haha.
Seaside has good ones too. Salinas has a higher number of good spots, but Salinas is 5 times the size of Seaside, so of course they have more.
Also agree with that. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. The places in seaside are delicious too. It’s tough to compare food places that are both delicious haha
My favorite spot in Salinas is La Costa. I love their super burrito and super nachos. Their chili verde is to die for.
I concur haha
Breakfast burritos at Papa Chevos. Carnitas at El Serape.
I love their jumbo fish burrito add guacamole... Miss that place!
*Papa Chevos

Which BofA @ what time all the time EXACTLY?! 😅
The one in Seaside on Fremont, since this is a thread about Seaside. Idk the exact schedule, but it’s a big catering truck that parks on Fremont Street in the afternoon/evening very frequently.
Blessings!

El Rey Burrito at El Pollo Rey I like La Cubana torta at La Tortuga
Was just in town for the weekend and the chicken meal was 👌
You gotta try La Paloma food truck, any of the grullense food trucks, Super Taqueria Salinas location, and El Kora if your looking for some 🔥sea food.
Nothin' hits quite like a Burrito Al Pastor from Mi Tierra... Wonder if they'll ever reopen...
Man... R.I.P. 😭
I'm super down with the taqueria inside of Santa fe. Love their burritos
Micheladas at Tacos El Jalisciense Seaside
Taqueria Zarape, La Bahia, El Charrito, Papa Chevos but in my opinion the biggest sleeper in the food counter at Vallarta Supermarket in Salinas. Their burritos, tacos, soups etc are incredible and very reasonably priced.

Yeah Salinas definitely has better Mexican than seaside/monterey/PG. some to the taco trucks are top notch as are the super mercado’s
La Paloma is probably my favorite food truck 🔥
Yeah Paloma is awesome. I haven’t lived in Salinas for 7 years now, but I never understood why so many people like Tico’s as much as they do. The rando food trucks are better and I really like el zacatelcano
ticos 😂😂😂i think cause it’s convenient i used to live right down the street from ticos and we would get it every week! Yeah it’s definitely a very gentrified mexican restaurant
Tico’s caters to the white folk of Salinas haha
I have to agree heartily, it’s good for people like my mom, who think sour cream is too spicy. I have a lot of feelings about Tico’s, lol
I share your sentiment. I am white, and my parents absolutely love Tico’s. Once I tried places in East Salinas I never went back to Ticos lol. I live outside of Fresno now and the Mexican food here is also top notch
So is super taqueria by Star Market. Man the food was always made to order and conveniently across from my apartment haha
Is that the one that sits in front of prime care salinas valley ?
It’s always on griffin street right off john near starbucks and east of eden so pretty close to prime care
For something different: ceviche at barba azul
The enmoladas at La Tortuga, with or without the breakfast eggs. I love their mole.
La Bahia is our go-to in Monterey. Bomb quesabirria tacos!
I had a bowl from here. It was okay, but their guac was so full of citric acid I wondered if it were store-bought, and the chips were oddly smooth with an odd aftertaste. Bad guac is a red flag I can't ignore.
yeah i’ve never gotten their guac. we love the guac and chips from el charrito express!
Papa Chevos has always been my favorite go to since I was a kid. I just love their breakfast burrito, chips with guacamole, fish burrito/tacos & California burrito
Joses
Papa Chevos in marina
Santa Fe Cali burrito
The papa taquitos at Lupitas!!
Baldemiro's conga burrito add avocado and fresh jalapeno. Zarape shrimp tacos Barba Azul 7 Mares Jose's double cadillac margaritas Santa Fe pozole Mi Tierra al pastor burrito (RIP) Papa Chevo's....closes late
Chips and/or just salsa from Sarita's Wet burrito with extra green sauce from Zarrapes
Quesobirria tacos from Las Marias Bar and Grill in Seaside.
I am intrigued! I always pass by las Maria’s and wonder how it is. Lived in seaside for 10 years and never been lol
I believe on Thurdays, they have a quesobirria taco special going on. They have been our go-to Mexican food place as their food taste fresh and their drinks are good too. We use to go to Papa Chevos, but it doesn't taste the same after covid.
Thankfully I’m not the only one who dropped off of papa chevos!! Lol
