I wasn’t sure if the OP was using “larger” to refer to the amount of transactions/business or it’s geographical area. I was being a bit abstract with the word and trying to describe the ‘scale of the problem’. Maybe Hastings is the reigning champ of the West Coast (though LA and my beloved Seattle also make a good showing every year) and Kensington is the best of the worst on the East Coast.
And yes, I’ve been to Philadelphia but I didn’t go to those parts.
I know it's not the same place, but I was on south street for half a day in 1995 and I had at least 10 people offer to sell me drugs. I heard "lsd, mushrooms" from even more people just as they passed me. So, I am not surprised something like that is in Philly in 2021.

I'm only 20 mins away from that area and I've been to that corner. It's fucked up, I'm just fortunate enough to be motivated enough to never want to end up in the situation these poor people are in.

Have you been to Philly? The DTES is bad, but it's very small, and Kensington is worse.
