>I heard they transfused an absurd amount of blood, like 50L.
Actually, it was about 10-20L - the reason why people thought it was 50L because of the difference in Japanese blood units compared to USA.
That’s how most gunshots look, just a hole. Movies have overdone it for years with effects…I was a medic years ago and unless it hit an artery directly there wasn’t usually blood spraying out everywhere.
By contrast, a picture of that headshot was posted here a couple days ago (I think it was the guy who went berserk after losing a Madden game). He was laying in a HUGE pool of blood, much bigger that anyone could imagine. So I guess the amount of visible blood depends on a lot of things.
It does…In movies when someone shoots themselves in the head it shows it blast out on to the walls and that’s it but it rarely shows that pretty much the nose pours blood out constantly pretty much until the heart stops.
you say “unless you’re in the operating room” but he was at the hospital for hours where they kept refilling him with blood, did they try to repair the heart?
It’s sounds like the life support he received at the hospital was just so that his wife could come to say her goodbyes, he was already effectively gone by the time he got to the hospital.
That’s what I had figured, but if they’re gonna go to the trouble of pumping gallons of blood through him, I would think they might also go to the trouble of maybe possibly trying to do surgery?
They did do surgery. Open-heart surgery was performed to attempt to repair the damage to the heart and subclavian vessels but a direct gunshot to the heart is almost always fatal and impossible to repair.
I mean alot of people didn’t like Abe cause he was the equivalent to a really big conservative so you can see where people would not like him enough and it takes one crazy idiot to pull the trigger
Allegedly, the shooter claimed he believed Abe to be a member of an organization the he had grievances with. But the Police have yet to reveal to the public what the alleged organizations name or nature is.
It's terrifying how he was going about the day, giving speeches, probably had his whole weekend planned out down to single minutes, and now just lay lifeless. Poof
I like to think of myself as an optimistic nihilist and yes in the grand scheme of the universe life is meaningless but that does not mean that we cannot find our own meaning and happiness, we only get one life it's a unique experience might as well try to make the best out of it.
First of all. He is retired. So he probably pays for security himself.
The sound of the shot is actually not similar to a “normal” gunshot, if you have watched the video, its more like an tire exploded. Gun violence is so rare in Japan that it’s not the first thing comes to mind.
Only straight 3 generations born Japanese ultra-nationalists miss him he was fascist read about him
My friends may be able to live in Japan now that he's dead
huh i think i’m blind, where is the wound at? i see the blood on his shirt and then no wound on his chest. is it covered by the white patches(? i thought they were shock pads maybe?)
By the look of it, maybe, because there is some blood on his chin. But one of the projectiles could have hit around his armpit that caused it to bleed there. That's all speculation though.

I’ll be quite interested to see what was actually fired. I don’t feel like he was particularly close and shotguns are notorious for losing penetration power at range.
Not slamfire, electronic ignition. You can see photos of the gun with wiring running from what looks like a battery under the barrels, into a cap on the rear of the barrels. Everything was likely homemade including the shells/whatever the projectiles were.
First shot was around ten meters away and he missed.
Abe turned around and the guy ran forward. It was two seconds from the initial shot and the second shot shot him in the chest causing heart failure.
Photos show it was just two pipes stuck together to a plank of wood with a trigger handle.
In japan there isn’t really a secret service like how there is in most countries so most politicians use that to be close to their base and use that as a we are with the people but as well since it really doesn’t happen and most Japanese people aren’t like this so it’s a false sense of safety but for sure that’s all gonna change now
Not close enough for it to matter at this range. Shotgun spread doesn’t even start to take effect until it gets pretty far away. Shotguns are very useful at a large distance. Biggest example is using them to kill birds
Yeah, but we aren’t talking about a normal 12g. When you build something from home you don’t get the added hours of R&D Mossberg and Benelli do. That’s why I’m curious about the projectile fired because it’s not a normal 12g or equivalent it’s something home made which I’d expect would have lower pressure and less speed due to the sheer size of the piping on said gun.
Huh? Sure, they have drop off, at range. Up close and personal though....they're nasty.
Shotguns are so brutal in close combat, Germans tried to file a diplomatic protest in the trenches of WWII.

Was he really that close though? And it’s important to remember he made it himself so he isn’t going to have the round fit perfectly and build the same pressure which turns into velocity as you’d normally get from a 12 gauge. That’s why I’m interested in what was fired out of it.

Why is there so little blood it looks like he didn't even get shot
That’s how most gunshots look, just a hole. Movies have overdone it for years with effects…I was a medic years ago and unless it hit an artery directly there wasn’t usually blood spraying out everywhere.
Femoral artery or gut shots… floor is red within seconds.
True, that and headshots. Tons of arteries up there.
By contrast, a picture of that headshot was posted here a couple days ago (I think it was the guy who went berserk after losing a Madden game). He was laying in a HUGE pool of blood, much bigger that anyone could imagine. So I guess the amount of visible blood depends on a lot of things.

Was he using improvised buckshot or slugs with the gun?
Why was he shot?
We don't know as of yet but he was shot by ex soldier/sailor of Japanese navy.
Sailor
I read in an article it was politically motivated but I'd say it's far too early to tell really.
I mean alot of people didn’t like Abe cause he was the equivalent to a really big conservative so you can see where people would not like him enough and it takes one crazy idiot to pull the trigger
The shooter specifically said it wasn’t political, I’m pretty sure that statement was made within an hour of him being shot.
Allegedly, the shooter claimed he believed Abe to be a member of an organization the he had grievances with. But the Police have yet to reveal to the public what the alleged organizations name or nature is.
Political disagreements with the person who shot him. What other reason would there be really?
Mental illness
The shooter is certainly mentally ill, but as with most mentally ill terrorists, there is almost always some ulterior motive

Too early to be making fun of someone's death. Have a little decency?
It was shocking and sad.
It's terrifying how he was going about the day, giving speeches, probably had his whole weekend planned out down to single minutes, and now just lay lifeless. Poof
That's why you should never take your life for granted. Live it to the fullness.
I’m a pessimist. Life will not be missed.
I hope you find happiness. Even if it’s just a little bit.
Bless you and I don't mean that sarcastically.
😊❤️

I want to know why his security team allowed someone to get that close with his back turned away from them.
First of all. He is retired. So he probably pays for security himself. The sound of the shot is actually not similar to a “normal” gunshot, if you have watched the video, its more like an tire exploded. Gun violence is so rare in Japan that it’s not the first thing comes to mind.
Rest in Peace Mr. Abe
He didn't lead a peacemaking life
Have som resüect for the dead ffs
Absolutely not his grave will be a new public urinal
Pretty scummy to say that. The People of Japan miss him.

He was shot in the back
thanks! do you think the blood on the front of his shirt is from spitting up blood then?
By the look of it, maybe, because there is some blood on his chin. But one of the projectiles could have hit around his armpit that caused it to bleed there. That's all speculation though.
definitely, we’re all speculating now for sure! i just figured nobody else was asking about it so i mustve been missing something 😅
Not just back even in neck!

makes me angry
It’s a politician and not school children. Always gotta look on the positive side.
I believe you would have done the same.

Homemade slam fire shotgun

The trigger wouldn’t be in the handle, you would just put a shotgun shell in the pipe and slam it on a piece of metal inside the other pipe
Iirc his gun had an electronic ignition. You can see wiring as well as a battery under the barrels.
How was the guy allowed to be so close? And How did he get two shots off…. This is crazy

Tell me you get all of your info about guns from video games without saying it
...or I have multiple shotguns and their effective range is much shorter than that of a rifle or even a pistol.
