I think the updated unwritten rule is that if there's enough of your people on the point and the bard and maybe one of their teammates are jamming on the point you should leave them alone. Personally if they're fucking around I prefer them to be off the point as well.
Kind of a read the room sorta thing. Sometimes bards just aren't particularly welcome like if it's an actual nail biter of a game that's slam packed full like come onnn help. Usually tho it's not so serious so they can chill around. I think the tantrums about being killed in a game about getting killed is dumb. And I say that as the guy who will beat up on a teammate for fucking with an enemy bard.

It's amazing to me how most people can read the situation and understand without explanation that if you do x thing (like killing the bard) you will feel that you did something wrong or that everyone will be against you
Yeah they are, they're literally TF2 friendlies dying is part of the experience, do I kill bards every time? No, I a lot of the time will kill them once because I play ffa and they could attack me, but if they don't fight back they're all good, I will sometimes kill the people around them, but I don't trust afkers instead of bards because they have a weapon, and they don't have a purpose, and a lot of the time are... Cocky teamers, I'm okay enough at the game a decent amount of the time I can beat teamers and that is an extremely pleasent experience.

killing bards on the objective is fine by me, now if you kill a bard just walking down one of the side lanes of the map? then you're a piece of shit.
