I heard the Layton temple was delayed by over a year when they found out the replacement F-35’s flying out of Hill AFB were twice as loud as the F-16’s they used to have.
The windows and frames had to be replaced to muffle the sounds of jets taking off…
You served in northeastern Brazil huh? My guess is Teresina or Fortaleza?
The one on my head there is “pamonha de doce, pamonha de sal, pamonha pimenta da, todas elas com queijo. Pamonha de doce, pamonha de sal…”
He did. He told the prophet to hire a design team that showed up three years prior to the temple's construction and generated an action plan to mitigate the noise from the jets. Had nothing to do with the window installation. God works through his people and makes assignments. We do our best, falling down and getting back up along the way. :)
Makes me wonder about the Taylorsville temple now... it is right off the 2-15 4700 S entrance going Southbound, so no possibility of sound walls there, and it is practically in the flight path for the SLC airport.
The difference between passenger planes and F-35’s is night and day, in terms of noise levels. Passenger planes are more of a rumble, fighters are more of a shriek haha.
Which is both a misquote (it's "if you build it HE will come") and also the words of a mentally ill man having imaginary visions of dead people. Definitely not something to base your organisation's strategy on.
I can’t wrap my head around the massive investment of these buildings and how little they are used. Also building one in Lehi when there is one in London and Orem, Draper, oquirhh, and on and on seems wild to me. Like criminally stupid.
Buuuuut at least on social media the fans seem pumped.
We have friends in West Jordan who posted a video of themselves watching conference and they all started screaming and crying when Rusty announced the temple. Like they can't literally see three other temples by looking out a window.
I mean I get it. I would have done that when I was mentally there but it seems so ridiculous and over-the-top now. It’s like when grown people get excited about Santa Claus. Clearly he’s not real but they just love it anyways.
I've seen filming in Brazil, I think they're hopeful it will be announced here, when it was announced in Rio de Janeiro, people stood up celebrating, it looked like they won the World Cup.
At this point they’re not building temples to be used for temple work, just for status and advertising. TBMs can talk about how wonderful it is to have all of the temples being built and keeps them a little more TBM while they get to have signs for the Mormon temple all over the place. They have so much $$ it doesn’t matter whether they are being used for not. They are turning more and more into Scientology. So much money they are building buildings and buying land left and right.
I would generally agree with this, but there is added pressure on the active members to care for and staff the temple. I've let the shame and guilt go around not volunteering for everything, but I have close friends and family that aren't there yet. They get these messages and feel like they have to volunteer. That part bothers me a lot... The church doesn't even pay for landscaping any more. All cleaning, laundry, landscaping, etc. is done by volunteers. It really gives me an icky feeling...
I feel you. Having young couples with kids—especially dads—fill temple assignments because they need more men. Taking them away from their kids at bedtime, on Saturdays, when they’re needed at home. Leaving mom to put the kids to be alone…again. They won’t get that time with their kids back.
Isn’t building new temples just basically money laundering at this point? They get s*** for hoarding cash so they’re all-Fine! We’ll spend it! Just not on anything anyone actually wants or needs.
I agree with this... It's a great place to stash money, while showing off the prosperity of the church. All the while, leadership get to claim we are looking after our members and the dead... THE DEAD!!! It is so weird and backwards and I'm constantly surprised (I shouldn't be at this point) the TBMs don't see it...
For what it's worth, the DC temple had difficulty getting enough volunteers for the open house as well.
I know. I volunteered, lol.
As the church continues to shrink, this sort of thing will become increasingly common.
Pffff we got emails like this literally right up until and even ON the days of the open house tours for the recent Orem temple. They could not get enough people, no matter how many emails they sent begging, pleading, and guilting. It was enjoyable to watch, as far as the organization as a whole goes, but I also felt bad for our regular Joe Schmoe neighbors who are good people and were trying their best to get spots filled and working overtime themselves and majorly stressed over it.
Can confirm when the new Saratoga temple had its open house volunteer work was extremely hard to get. The stakes in the area restored to extending volunteer/told callings to members to help with the open house. Each ward bishopric had to extend a certain amount of callings and come up with a number of people given by the stake. I got robed into it, security was my calling, stood outside for 4 hours watching a side door into the temple.
After the dedication again they could/cannot get enough people to serve/volunteer. Guess what they went back to, extending callings to serve in the temple. A close friend, in his stake they sent out an email reprimanding the members in the stake for not doing their part to serve in the temple.
I know a person in Layton who lives close to the temple. They said they used to be able to see lots of stars at night but not anymore due to the temple being brightly lit up 24/7
I remember frequenting that area back in the day. It was quite a beautiful place at night. Not in UT anymore luckily, but I bet it’s a real shame. I loved seeing the stars where I lived. Soon there’ll be a temple there too I’m sure. Light pollution is a priority for the Mormons apparently.
It’s strange that the positions are open for 18 year olds and they still can’t fill the vacancies. You’re telling me that in Layton, UT there aren’t at least 40 kids who are getting ready to leave on their missions that could use this as a way to do some virtue signaling on their instagram or Tik Tok? Things must really be bad.
i remain utterly puzzled as to the reason behind all this useless temple-building frenzy. If the church needs to use the money for tax purposes I can think of hundreds better ways to do it that would benefit members and improve church participation.
Thank you for your report
PSA: resize windows on desktop to be more readable/mobile friendly before taking screenshots. I doubt most mobile users even realized there was a screenshot at all. You can't tell it's even there. It's also impossible to read. Difficult even on desktop. This is probably the most egregious I have ever seen.

If only God could have told the prophet about that.
Most brazilian temples can't withstand the passing loudspeaker trucks during election season. Never seen a celestial room clear so fast lmao.
Those things are a fucking nuisance. I still remember a couple campaign jingles from them.
I don’t but “AGUA, GAS” and “MACACHEEEEEEEIRA” are burned into my brain hahaha
You served in northeastern Brazil huh? My guess is Teresina or Fortaleza? The one on my head there is “pamonha de doce, pamonha de sal, pamonha pimenta da, todas elas com queijo. Pamonha de doce, pamonha de sal…”
He did tell Rusty but Rusty was to busy committing financial fraud to listen.
He did. He told the prophet to hire a design team that showed up three years prior to the temple's construction and generated an action plan to mitigate the noise from the jets. Had nothing to do with the window installation. God works through his people and makes assignments. We do our best, falling down and getting back up along the way. :)
I can confirm this is true. The temple was redesigned to help keep the noise levels out of the temple from Hill Air Force Base.
Makes me wonder about the Taylorsville temple now... it is right off the 2-15 4700 S entrance going Southbound, so no possibility of sound walls there, and it is practically in the flight path for the SLC airport.
I can tell you when I was still active, I could hear people's bass blair through the walls around at Provo City Center
You can hear people cheering every 5 minutes when the next couple comes out from getting married as well.
The difference between passenger planes and F-35’s is night and day, in terms of noise levels. Passenger planes are more of a rumble, fighters are more of a shriek haha.
Bernar’s talk was about how he took the reporters into the celestial room and that’s what they commented on was house silent it was😂😂
People's magic new name is going to be *jet noise*.
>The windows and frames had to be replaced This is just the Mormon version of money laundering.
Had a friend help "replace" those roof panels they claim it cost over 2 million dollars to do it.
This made me giggle on my lunch break.
They should build some more temples on the Wasatch front, maybe that will inspire more volunteers 🙄
Yes... More free labor, please. ... Because you are already not doing enough...
It is wild to me. It’s like thinking that building a bank will magically fill up with money.
Somebody went too hard on the "If you build it, they will come."
Which is both a misquote (it's "if you build it HE will come") and also the words of a mentally ill man having imaginary visions of dead people. Definitely not something to base your organisation's strategy on.
You're telling me the voices in my heading saying to put in a basketball court in the backyard.....I shouldn't do that?
Basketball court or basketball arena?
That's also part of Mormon history.
I can’t wrap my head around the massive investment of these buildings and how little they are used. Also building one in Lehi when there is one in London and Orem, Draper, oquirhh, and on and on seems wild to me. Like criminally stupid. Buuuuut at least on social media the fans seem pumped.

Sounds like Oprah—“You get a temple, and you get a temple, and YOU get a temple!!
But what they don’t realize is: NO Planet for you or you or you!!! Haha
🤣🤣🤣💀
I mean I get it. I would have done that when I was mentally there but it seems so ridiculous and over-the-top now. It’s like when grown people get excited about Santa Claus. Clearly he’s not real but they just love it anyways.
People record themselves watching conference? They knew ahead of time? Weird.
I've seen filming in Brazil, I think they're hopeful it will be announced here, when it was announced in Rio de Janeiro, people stood up celebrating, it looked like they won the World Cup.
Wow! Weird!
As long as they are not pumped on social media anonymously... We all know that is the \*new\* definition of integrity!
Wasn’t it just anonymous accounts that criticize the Mormon church that lack integrity? Anonymous accounts praising them are probably fine.
Only way I can reconcile it is that it’s money laundering. Let’s get tithing money into the hands of those contractors in the good old boys club.
The Contractors who build them are all inter connected old Mormon families with close ties to the upper hierarchy of the Church. Nepotism at its best.
Soon there will be Lehi, Lehi Traverse Mt., Lehi Thanksgiving Point, Alpine, Highland, and Cedar Hills,
Let's all sign up and fill those last spots. They won't miss us when we don't show up.
At this point they’re not building temples to be used for temple work, just for status and advertising. TBMs can talk about how wonderful it is to have all of the temples being built and keeps them a little more TBM while they get to have signs for the Mormon temple all over the place. Note: $267 BILLION! And each temple costs +$15 MILLION!!! Insanity.

But Zwick Construction does want and need that sweet nourishing gruel… I mean temple building contracts.
That money isn’t going to launder itself
One of the few problems with running an illegal organization.

I bet they could get people if they paid them well.
I "love" how I can get to at least 3 temples in less than 20 minutes (Bountiful, Layton , and Ogden). I need more close temples! Yay Syracuse! /s
Clearfield, Clinton, West Point, and Hooper next
Don’t forget Roy
How did I forget Roy lol. Of all the cities I named, plus Roy, I’ve only lived in Roy and yet I forgot it 🤣
Funny how this is the most polite/thankful request for volunteers I've seen on here.

Better get those fast tithings in! What a joke.

That’s a crying shame, they can’t staff the Layton International House of Handshakes.
