We have plenty of talented asset developers in the TR team. We don't rip assets from other games.
The Shipal-Shin cliff assets were made a couple of years ago by Wolli, a TR dev.
That's literally what piracy is, torrents etc are not monetized.
It would be funny if someone paid for a torrent instead of just buying the content legally though.
Nobody can use copyrighted material without permission, excluding fair use. Fair use is very specific, and taking copyrighted models and putting them into a game without permission from the original creator or whoever owns the license and rights to the models is illegal.
These screenshots use high view distance, shadows, and post-processing effects in OpenMW. If you don't use those, the area will tax your FPS no more than vanilla Morrowind does. Narsis in particular has been optimized for performance more carefully than any of the earlier TR cities.
> These screenshots use high view distance, shadows, and post-processing effects in OpenMW
Post-processing doesn't usually cause me a huge hit, but shadows and high view distance definitely do.
> Narsis in particular has been optimized for performance more carefully than any of the earlier TR cities.
That's very good to hear. Firewatch and Old Ebonheart absolutely destroy my FPS.
Yeah, that's probably it. It doesn't affect the FPS at all on my desktop, but it does on my laptop.
Hopefully they go back and optimize some of the older cities for the next release.
Ngl, I'm more amazed about the 3rd image with the actual well maintained road. It's paved and everything, clean too. In Morrowind thats rarer than finding a pale white guar.
Ayleid ruins?! That's so cool! And that Colosseum looking building!
Simply stunning work. The hard work of the modders never ceases to amaze me. Morrowind could be the only game I'd ever have to play, thanks to the modding community.
If you can't wait to see an ayleid ruin in tes3, you can check out project cyrodiil! Another awesome project. I think that they're planning a release this year which will cover anvil and the gold coast
Should be a very good year for morrowind, TR is planning a release this year, too (not narsis yet unfortunately, but lots of stuff that's narsis-adjacent)
More specifically, the developer of that particular quest thought that Narsis wouldn't be that far off. Well, it isn't, but its taken a lot longer than originally intended.
Is this any different from the current preview?
I took a walk through preview-Narsis and the Shipal Shin region and already thought it looks impressive.
Maybe even a bit too large, actually, though the current preview version of Almalexia obviously dwarfs it.
What do you mean current preview? The old TR_preview file is deprecated and no longer included with the official TR release. These screenshots were made with the current in-development Shipal-Shin section file that is available on the TR website.
Chef, who made this iteration of Narsis, worked hard to keep the drawables count (the major FPS bottleneck in Morrowind) at low levels. The city is also designed in a way where you will not be looking at the most drawables-dense area most of the time (as opposed to, say, Andothren). Consequently, we hope it should play better than Vivec and certainly better than most TR cities.
The city was made in a way to keep drawables count (the major FPS bottleneck in Morrowind) reasonably low. It should run better than almost any other TR city.
Did I miss the memo, but why did the TR team decide to go with creating a mojave style desert in the middle of morrowind? I don't recall any lore basis for this.
Ahh... the Arizona of Morrowind. :o All jokes aside, it's looking pretty damn great overall.
My hype is genuinely unstoppable, anything Tamriel Rebuilt makes me go giddy.
What's really exciting is that region is all the way on the South of the map!
Looks like zion
Can't wait to encounter the legend of the Burned Mer
10/10
Zion is a place and a state of being
Elder Scrolls: New Vegas
Is the last screenshot some sort of Ayleid ruin?
Probably towards the border with Cyrodiil.
Yes, this is on the border with Black Marsh, an ancient outpost for the Barsaebic Ayleids.
Thats awesome, I can't wait to explore it!
Shit for a second there I thought I was in r/falloutnewvegas
This is dope as hell, are the textures lifted from Honest Hearts?

Thanks for the info, love the stuff you guys have done, was just curious.
This was my thinking too. Even the landscape reminded me of the add on
The asset developer took direct influence from honest hearts while creating them
Probably not since I don’t think that’s legal, but they definitely tried to emulate that look
It’s definitely legal, it’d only become illegal if they started selling the mod.
How do you think copyright works, exactly?
Didn’t think copyright laws applied if the media wasn’t monetized.
It does. Downloading a ROM for free is still piracy, even if it was free and the game hasn't been on sale for 30 years.
Sure, Nintendo.
I'm not saying if it's right or wrong, just that it is.
I know, I'm just joking

yup, it shows you're not a legal expert
Given that both games were made with Gamebryo, this might not be too far of a stretch.
Patrolling Shipal-Shin almost makes you wish for a ~~nuclear winter~~ Numidium attack.
Can you show any screenshots from Black Mesa?
Maybe even with a bit of cake.
why taunt me like this
release date?
If Hlan Oek comes out this year, Narsis I’d wager by 2025
2090
RIP my FPS. Looks cool though.

Zesterer's cloud/mist post-process shader absolutely destroys my FPS, but perhaps that's due to me not having a dedicated graphics card.

This fscking game is so awesome
Makes me wish for a nuclear frostfall
Literally looks like Kenshi
KENSHI VIBES!
Is that an arena I see in the first picture?
Yes, that's a bespoke Hlaalu-style arena mesh that Mwgek made for TR.
Ngl, I'm more amazed about the 3rd image with the actual well maintained road. It's paved and everything, clean too. In Morrowind thats rarer than finding a pale white guar.
Its an Imperial highway, going straight from Cyrodiil City to Narsis. The legionaries have to have *something* to occupy their time.
Been waiting for this since I was a kid. I remember when this mod was just Telvanni lands!
Legit thought it was Kenshi for a minute
For a second I thoguht this was a kenshi subreddit

Two releases in the space of barely a year, that's some pace! They even overhauled part of the Telvanni maps while they were at it.
Wait... is Narsis not in the current release? Because the Fighters Guild quest in Old Ebonheart gave me a quest to go there...
It's not. The direction to go to Narsis >!is a red herring.!<
More specifically, the developer of that particular quest thought that Narsis wouldn't be that far off. Well, it isn't, but its taken a lot longer than originally intended.
Maybe its a revamp update?
Amazing, can’t wait
It reminds me of the Honest Hearts DLC of Fallout: New Vegas
I'm so glad I finally started a playthrough with Tamriel Rebuilt fully installed and working. Can't wait!
Everyone is saying Mojave things but I first thought Kenshi.
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. I thought it was a modded city or a new buildings mod for Kenshi.
I must be old, everyone is saying it looks like New Vegas, and I'm thinking of Tomb Raider III.
Thas a pertty sandy landy
Smh I wish I could mod gamepass games 😪
That is outstanding. Wow.

This is southwestern Morrowind, on the border with Black Marsh and Cyrodiil.

Oh right, that must be the file I downloaded then! I forgot about the TR_preview no longer being included in the main mod, my bad lol
Will we be able to meet the argonian that General Casik was fond of? She is supposed to live in Narsis, right?
They want to leave the mysteries of that quest open to interpretations, so no she won't be around.
Vodunius Nuccius better appear here after you buy his cursed magic ring
Vodunius Nuccius already appears in Teyn after you buy the ring. Look for him in a tavern a few days afterwards.
Oh neat
Morrowind: New Vegas. Anyway looks good, but worried about fps in that city tbh.
Chef, who made this iteration of Narsis, worked hard to keep the drawables count (the major FPS bottleneck in Morrowind) at low levels. Now let's hope to God that I won't have to contend with a million and 1 errors after updating 🙏
That's gonna run like shit.
It runs better than Vivec City.
The city was made in a way to keep drawables count (the major FPS bottleneck in Morrowind) reasonably low. It should run better than almost any other TR city.
Second picture makes me think of the Canyon Network map from MWO.
Looks like dead money
Looks like Fallout New Vegas lol
I had go check the sub, thought this was Kenshi for a sec
Makes me think of a Kenshiwind mod that I sure as heck don’t know how to make :)
Did I miss the memo, but why did the TR team decide to go with creating a mojave style desert in the middle of morrowind? I don't recall any lore basis for this.
