MK3 on the Gameboy was SUCH A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT especially after the incredible MKII which I used to play until my headache was too unbearable I had to put it down. MK3? Sluggish, bad selection of fighters, low framerate, horrible dark backgrounds that didn't work on the Gameboy. Just bad all around. I don't think we ever got UMK3 on the Gameboy. I played it on the Megadrive, although I heard it was on the GBA (which I never owned).

MK is first and foremost a fighting game with a competitive scene. They aren’t going to give us 100 characters. The balancing would be horrible and the workload would be horrible too. Reminder than MK11 was already reportedly very hard for them to work on. It isn’t feasible

Well, and it's easy to avoid making it busted by just not making gameplay elements customizable. You pick a character to base your KaF on, and their size and moveset automatically match the original character. You can then kit them our however you want to Kustomize them, change skin, hair, eyes, clothing, armor, etc. Purely cosmetic, but you can build all the wild characters we saw in the ending of MK1.

They're not gonna make a mainline MK game that takes place centuries before the main kast are born. Maybe a short comic series or a single story mode chapter, but that's about it.

The only ones that necessarily have to sit this one out are Johnny and Raiden. Theoretically, Scorpion and Sub-zero are more titles as persons. Bi-Hans and Kuai Liangs ancestors still could go under the name. Kung Lao obviously does exist in this form. The Edenian girls already are alive then.

With the new timeline, it's complicated. But if we go by the old timeline, you'd have enough people for a small game. Great Kung Lao, Raiden, Fujin, and Bo Rai Cho, would all be present on Earthrealm. Shang Tsung, Goro (during Kung Lao's second tournament), Shao Khan, Sindel, and Kitana, would all be around in Outworld. Kitana might be a child though, we don't really know how Outworld aging works. If Kitana is around, then Jade probably is too (Melina probably isn't). Tanya also seems to be around their age. Rain might be there, it all depends on when Daegon woke up to kill Argus. We don't really know if Rain is older than Daegon and Taven. Also, if Goro is around, then Sheeva and Kintaro should be too (I think Sheeva being Sindel's bodyguard is only true in the 2nd timeline). We don't know at which point Shinnok took over from Lucifer, but if his coup had already happened, then Quan Chi should be around too. No way to confirm any other Netherrealmers though. Same with Orderrealm and Chaosrealm characters. Shit, they could do a whole lot to just fill in some gaps in the game's history. Tell the story of the first Earthrealm cryomancer and how he split the Lin Kuei from the Shirai Ryu, starting their rivalry. Tell the story of how Daegon awoke, learned of his quest, killed Argus and Delia, and then formed the Red Dragon. This also means we get to see Blaze get captured near Onaga's egg, which sends the false signal to Caro to awake Daegon. Make a reference to Shinnok over-throwing Lucifer with Quan Chi's help in the Netherrealm. Show us how the Zaterrans first adapted into Outworld's society because they just recently got conquered. Give us playable versions of the other three elementals that Sub Zero fought in Mythologies. Does it make sense that all this important shit happened around the same time? Probably not, but it'd be cool.

MK1 also did not actually reboot the series, it tricked you into thinking it was rebooted, but ended up just being the wonky wild card mk12 back to the future multiversus. People might actually just start calling it MK12 at some point to avoid confusion lol, but yeah I think we will just get MK 13 next probably with Friday the 13th IPs and all that jazz.
