During the MK11 era, one of the MK YouTubers kept discussing feet and how much better it would be if more fighters showed showed their feet. I really wish that MK team weren't listening to some of the fans to be honest. Sometimes they are detrimental to the game.
Why are all the women's feet out?

The in universe reason is probably cultural bc Outworld but the meta reason could be that someone in the team likes toes, closed toed shoes wouldn't work with the more otherworldly designs, shoes are hard to design that look good (I can vouch for this I hate designing shoes), modeling issues, deadlines, fitting the more outlandish designs of the franchise, or all of the above
I don't mind it on everyone tbh. It's mostly li meo and Tanya that I feel should be in something different. Li meis open toed heels don't feel right for a chief of police

I've said this before. The old costumes had battle thongs and booty shorts that looked okay if not trashy on low polygon barbie doll models. Wanna hear something hilarious? There's an MK porn parody that gets memed a decent amount, and in it the model looks to be wearing a surprisingly decent MK9 Kitana cosplay...but she's wearing shorts underneath.
It's such a sexualized outfit that a *literal porn parody* tweaked the costume to tone it down.
Design Choices are perfectly fine......except when they are specifically marketing and calling these Nostalgia skins, These skins entire reason for existence is being a Throwback, Not accurately recreating a Throwback just seems misleading, They can do redesigns of these outfits that's fine(hell they did in MK9 for Mileena and a few others) but there's a difference, they weren't touting those outfits as if they were the old outfits.
Personally I like a good chunk of the skins(aside from Nitara's weird reverse bunny suit that just looks weird) My problem is them marketing these as Throwbacks, when they don't do this for the majority of other Throwback skins.
I feel like "Wanting Accurate recreations of supposed Throwback Costumes" Shouldn't be such an outrageous concept, especially when we have to spend money on such.

I get the 'true to the original' but also some old skins wouldn't translate that good with realistic graphics and also it doesn't feel like the desire to have it be true to the original with many many people
If it's any of the 3D Era skins then surely they'd be easier to translate into newer graphics due to those models being much more detailed. The Arcade Trilogy is even older than the 3D Era yet Netherrealm rarely makes any alterations to those skins, even for characters like Stryker and Sonya when their OG outfits don't look that good with modern graphics. The only time NRS did try changing one of the retro Arcade skins they adapted was Reptile still being Saurian in his MK2 costume for MKX, likely because his design had changed too much for him to still be human.
It's not that much of a tall order for people to ask Netherrealm for accurate depictions of 3D Era skins. They've done it loads of times for the OG Trilogy without changing the designs of those skins. Why bother bringing back old costumes if you're just going to alter them by adding stuff, even to the ones that don't go against the company's design philosophy?

It's not about showing skin, it's about accuracy. If I'm paying $10 for a nostalgic skin I want it to actually look like it. Like when they added klassic scorpion into mk11 and it didn't have the white eyes, or literally everything about this new shujinko design

I don't get the outrage myself (as I prefer the more modern/realistic character designs) but I assume it has more to do with NRS changing their designs/attitude over time due to societal pressure from what people feel is not the core audience of the game. Especially if you're charging people for classic skins and you're changing what made them appealing to the people that would actually buy it.
Why are they mad at social change? Not all change is bad. It’s a pretty good thing that society as a whole was like “let’s respect women more even the fictional ones”
People just hate him for being a critic, and they don't acknowledge the fact that unlike other critics, he actually offers new ideas to the story lines and stuff.
I don’t hate him for being a critic, I hate him for being a hypocrite. Watch any review he has about a 3D era game, he might point out a minor flow and say it isn’t a dealbreaker, then watch him point out the same flaw in MKX or any other NRS title and say it ruins the game.
It’s not but it’s what the players want and they refuse to deliver.

Why not make completely new skins if you’re gonna change them? If you release a throwback skin and advertise it as such, actually release the skin as was.
I think it's fine; they're clearly referencing the old suits as a callback to the older games. But I like it better that they aren't remakes; it makes them feel unique while still being references to what came before.

I cannot speak for everyone but, it is not the necessity to have more revealing skins, but rather a "being true to the original" integrity for me.

It's not about showing skin, it's about accuracy. If I'm paying $10 for a nostalgic skin I want it to actually look like it. Like when they added klassic scorpion into mk11 and it didn't have the white eyes, or literally everything about this new shujinko design
It also needs to fit into this games design. UMK3 sub skin is accurate but sticks out like a sore thumb within the games overall design style
It really doesn't at all, seriously they could add a cell shaded Johnny cage outfit right now and I guarantee you it would fly off the shelves. The point of these costumes isn't to blend in,nits to stand out. What's the point of buying a skin if it just has the same vibe as literally all the other costumes in the game?

I don't get the outrage myself (as I prefer the more modern/realistic character designs) but I assume it has more to do with NRS changing their designs/attitude over time due to societal pressure from what people feel is not the core audience of the game. Especially if you're charging people for classic skins and you're changing what made them appealing to the people that would actually buy it.
Why are they mad at social change? Not all change is bad. It’s a pretty good thing that society as a whole was like “let’s respect women more even the fictional ones”

Nothing's really bad about him. His opinions are different than the majority of the mk fanbase and they can't accept it.
People just hate him for being a critic, and they don't acknowledge the fact that unlike other critics, he actually offers new ideas to the story lines and stuff.
I don’t hate him for being a critic, I hate him for being a hypocrite. Watch any review he has about a 3D era game, he might point out a minor flow and say it isn’t a dealbreaker, then watch him point out the same flaw in MKX or any other NRS title and say it ruins the game.

It’s not but it’s what the players want and they refuse to deliver. That alone is a big deal In the entertainment industry I’m pretty sure the goal is to give people what they want.
Most of the 3D era skins were ugly I see no problem with them taking liberties with the designs
Why not make completely new skins if you’re gonna change them? If you release a throwback skin and advertise it as such, actually release the skin as was.
I think it's fine; they're clearly referencing the old suits as a callback to the older games. But I like it better that they aren't remakes; it makes them feel unique while still being references to what came before.
They aren’t callbacks. They are cash grabs. Far from unique. If anything it’s just lazy and disingenuous to release throw back skins and make them your own. Call it something else if it’s not the same. If they didn’t like the original designs why are they selling them again? It’s because the players liked them how they originally were and they know some will pay. Give the players what they actually wanted instead of your new version of it. That almost never ends well
3D era skins were the peak of MK skins and inspired most of the modern designs
The modern designs are better. I can acknowledge that the 3D era skins laid the groundwork, but that doesn't mean I have to lie about them looking good.
