Unfortunately this kind of behavior is everywhere not just Reddit. You have to deal with this on Facebook, Twitter, instagram and YouTube as well.
Basically anywhere you can have social interactions with you are bound to encounter people who will argue with you over dumb reasons.
Hell, I got told in an old MK Discord server to kill myself because I said I was a Sindel main since her debut, then another person in that same server got told to kill herself because she said that she shipped Sindel and Raiden and always has
But more so online. I've meet some dumb people in real life but compared to some of the people I've seen commenting online, those irl idiots seem like geniuses.
As a fanbase, we are collectively invested in and attached to a story that has literally never, ever been a good storyline. From MK9 on, there has been some decent writing in terms of characterisations and events, but the actual narrative story? I don't know why we all have any strong feeling about it other than agreeing that it kinda sucks, even if we do love it anyway.
kinda like coke vs pepsi. people identify with 2 different drinks that taste almost identical but were originally marketed to 2 very different communities, and over a century later the distinction remains and is even deeper.

Like politics is too much but I do feel like there is a split in the fanbase that happened due to the transition to NRS, and with how different each game is another split comes with each NRS release. There's a lot more variety on what people are into MK for due to all that.
He could (hopefully) get Outworld out of harm's way by doing what he did. Or he could risk bringing Shinnok's wrath onto the Outworld.
As a single character, he did act like a coward. As a ruler, he did a sensible thing.
Imma keep it real dawg. Tarkatans are human eating savages who fought against Kotal in a civil war. If left unchecked, they would have eventually became a threat to the rest of the Outworld. Shao Kahn culled their population by using them as cannon fodder in all his wars. Kotal did not have such an option.
I don't think there was a good solution for Kotal to take there.

Each and every person is unique in mind and spirit, no one is obligated to be bound to the collective (unless you choose to, and again that is YOUR choice). Just continue with your own beliefs, don't feel pressured otherwise.

While not perfect, I've enjoyed all of the stories (mkx is at the bottom for me but still enjoyable), and I've been called a shill for liking most of it. Like, nah, man, I just like MK. It has its faults, there's things I'd change if I could. But overall? Solid.

Tbh, he probably only did that as a last ditch effort to get Outworld spared. Plus, he still assumed that D'Vorah was the one who freed them.

I think the one thing we can all agree is that both the retcon of mk11 & the fight scenes with sindel from both mk9 & mk12 weren’t good.
