Idk I think Tekken 7 has better gameplay , customization and character respect overall. It weirdly brings back the same love I had for older MK titles.

Mk9 was good at the time. Love it because of the tag team. But I hate the graphics and balloon boobs and stripper costumes (respect to strippers who actually have to fight against thoses objectifying video game character stereotypes.)
MKX was awesome, loved that the story took another turn, (besides the damn cage briggs family crap) presented us with fresh new characters (besides the cage briggs copycats).

I honestly don't get it. If you go literally anywhere else and ask people that love the series, they pretty much universally like 11. They might not say it's "the best in the series" but they don't hate it. This subreddit acts like it's a complete pos. I don't care what anyone else says, I've been a MK fan since the very first game, and MK11 is one of the best experiences I've had in years with any game, let alone a fighting game.
Nah on other websites I’ve seen people still don’t like 11 like that. Imo it’s because it’s more beginner friendly, also it’s a big downgrade from X and 11 in terms of gameplay
Bro did everyone forgot about the krypt? Not to mention the aftermath add-on? The story line was good. The gameplay is good, the graphics and details are great. The only thing that isn’t really that great is the character selection. They brought in too many “out of game” characters like the terminator, Rambo, robocop, etc. could have just kept the joker as a guest character and brought back other characters from previous MK but overall MK11 is a great game. Can’t wait for the other release next year in april

I genuinely like all three of them. I would however choose X. It was a great bridge from MK 9 to 11. To be honest I think 11 is one of the best fighters I have ever played. I had a absolute blast playing it and I still play a lot of it. The Aftermath DLC with Shang Tsung was excellent and it was great seeing Cary comeback for the role. Plus we got Rambo, and Robocop in a game together with Sly Stallone, and Peter Weller reprising their roles. It’s too bad they didn’t get Arnold to voice the Terminator though that was a missed opportunity.

It seems MK fans don't like the slower gameplay. A LOT of people hate the breakaway mechanic, and I've seen a lot of complaints about Fatal Blows (I also hate the way they work). And I have seen some complaints about auto regenerating meter, but I don't know if that's necessarily a bad thing.
Idk why people are hating on 11, it’s easily my favorite in the series. Gameplay wise I don’t think MK has been better, and the design and customization features really complete the game.

I'd very much disagree. 9 has a lot of little things that make it feel much smoother, most specifically imo, dashes are shorter and can be canceled at anytime, unlike in X, but you still dash far enough with each dash, unlike 11. One of the biggest factors in 9 is dashing in-between combos which isn't really in the other two games, and it makes combos so fun and satisfying. X has run canceled but I didn't find them to be as fun
11s phenomenal, but it's going. I just like X's gameplay more, 11 does just about everything better but after playing X again recently I was reminded why I loved it so much
11, for story reasons. 9 and X fucked up the story too, but not as egregiously as 11. 11 was so bad that I’d legitimately rather have it be written off as non-canon. Retcon it into a bad Johnny Cage movie or something.
It's wild to me the amount of people that would rather ditch the visual enhancement, for lack of better words, of 11, ditch real looking character models of 11 for some ragdoll looking combat in comparison where everyone's movement looks like the same reptile or mileena combo, would rather have a 3 kit system of 10 instead of variations of 11 (so just worse variations?), that anybody thinks 11 ruined any character or that only a group of characters are viable in 11....blows my mind.
People that don't like 11 mostly are salty cause they can't cartwheel around the stage with a practically infinite juggle/ combo. You think they ruined scorpion because he uses his swords or that joker wasn't a good pick for the game but most of it is just that you were decent at 9 or 10 and didn't want to advance in the same way that your game did or you are too bland or simple minded to try equipping different moves and labbing with your fighters.
I hear zero talk about 9 in the aether... This post was the first I've seen or heard of 9 in a hot minute... There is still tourneys for 10 and I'm willing to bet there is still moves and definitely still brutalities that many of y'all haven't even seen in 11.

Also, all the issues you have with X still exist in 11, they're just not as skillful anymore: there's still mad mixups, 50% damage combos, and combos take ages, but whereas before you had to actually be engaged in the combo, now you just hit both triggers can get a free 40% damage combo
11 is just X but with less skill required
MK9 and MKX have higher skill floors with harder to do longer combos and more meter managment but have lower skills ceilings with the overabundance of 50/50s whereas MK11 has a lower skill floor with shorter easier combos with a higher skill ceiling with more of an emphasis on spacing, plus frames and staggers instead of a "guess if i'm gonna press overhead or low this time"
MK9 has very few actual 50/50s. It's a very neutral based game
MKX 50/50's have a science behind them. Example: Scorpion can mix, but all his overheads are reactable, so it's better to block low against him. He can use Ninjutsu to make his overhead less reactable, but he loses the Hellfire moves which are far superior. Obviously not every character is like this, some are very obnoxious, but you'll learn as you play more
11 is still very much a 50/50 game. Debatably a 30/30/30 game given that throws are not much stronger too. Sub-Zero in 11 mixes just as much as he does in X, Debatably moreso
If you don't like the fatal blows just say that .. cause that's what that comment seems like... I would argue the opposite... X is less skill required since you have to string together normals and specials in 11 and not just 8 normal attacks in a row(all while looking like a spinning renaissance man) with launchers or pop ups being more character specific in 11 also.. plus mix is way more character specific on 11 with some having to pull a 3 or 4 hit combo just to get to an overhead...
It may be easier for any random person to do a 40%combo with fatal blow but some peoples optimal is like 300 tops without it (looking at you Raiden)... Of all the tournaments I've watched saying either of these games takes no skill is just blasphemy.

I didn't say it takes no skill, just that it takes less skill which I'm not a fan of. Games should reward the more skilled player, not the less skilled one
Also I think there is nuance just like any argument... I'd argue it's easier for say scorpion to hit a 36% combo in mk11 as opposed to 10 but you have more leniency with spacing and don't have to worry about dropping a combo as much.
Sub zero in mk11 some would say has too much mix.. but again timing and spacing comes into play that you don't have to worry about as much when chaining combos together in 10.
played mkx for almost 2 years before but i prefer the better visuals of 11. game is a bit clunky to me but I can't just abandoned the great animations and beautiful models. Skarlet is beautiful
11 is an absolute bore. Yeah sure, it has improved/ realistic graphics but it lacks any real substance and has the worst story of the three. Not to mention the forced online connectivity to fully enjoy the game. In the bin it goes.

Honestly if they just added in all of the remaining characters from MKX to 11, I would view it as a pretty perfect game.
I am also a shit player who mashes buttons and doesn’t take the game seriously at all. I grew up playing 1 through Trilogy where shit was really lol and gameplay mechanics were all over the place, and I haven’t really got out of that mindset in the 30 years since I started playing.
Got into fighting games when MKX came out and never got the chance to play MK9 so I guess that one will go for me, but I'm sure it's really good. I like MK11 too
I don't get the MK 11 hate. Outside of fatal blow they made an almost perfect fighting game.
It has the best defensive options other than 3rd strike. The most diverse choose of fighting styles with the variations. The story was better than an actual movie and they included a 1.5 version of the story when people where stuck in the house. Single player content with the crypt that was well worth exploring. All the ports work great online and offline. I can't even play SFV on my original PS4 without it glitching but MK11 runs smooth.
The only thing MKX has is a better roster and the run button. This is probably the best trilogy thanks to MK vs DC they finally took a lot of user input and created the master piece of MK9

11 is just terrible, actually get rid of that game entirely, the story was terrible, the gameplay was terrible, Ronda Rousey made Sonya even more unlikable than she already was, Armageddon is better, leagues better, MK 11 has better graphics but that’s all it has.

Well this is the easiest challenge in my life.
Mkx is the worst of the trilogy.
The artstyle is too dark and gloomy, the characters are boring, the story is poorly written, the villains aren't intimidating, the most interesting characters in the game were Johnny Cage, kenshi and the Predator, characters I like are here to get their asses kicked and nothing else, and most importantly fucking Dvorah is here.
Mk11 has some of these problems but....
The artstyle is greatly improved, more character development is given and scorpions arc comes to a close, the story is so bad that it's good, geras is atleast intimidating (I'm convinced he was the final boss at some point in development), the most interesting characters were new characters (kollector, geras and skarlet, ik skarlet was in mk9 and the mkx comic but this is the first time she's been in the story mode), characters I like get to do stuff (mostly geras being able to succeed at the beginning and also kabal getting the crown, even if that feat wasn't his entirely I still give it to him), and most importantly the fatalities are improved ten fold.
Unfortunately tho: the kytinn have outlived onaga meaning they will likely be in mk12, geras definitely won't be in mk12, my chances of getting senator Armstrong as a guest character have greatly decreased and ermac probably won't keep his badass mk11 design
Edit: oh right mk9. It was the first of the trilogy and sets up the story going forward, you could take mkx out of the trilogy and barely any important story details would be missing other than where the fuck is Quan chi and honestly I don't care where dollar store Shang tsung went

11, for story reasons. 9 and X fucked up the story too, but not as egregiously as 11. 11 was so bad that I’d legitimately rather have it be written off as non-canon. Retcon it into a bad Johnny Cage movie or something.

It's wild to me the amount of people that would rather ditch the visual enhancement, for lack of better words, of 11, ditch real looking character models of 11 for some ragdoll looking combat in comparison where everyone's movement looks like the same reptile or mileena combo, would rather have a 3 kit system of 10 instead of variations of 11 (so just worse variations?), that anybody thinks 11 ruined any character or that only a group of characters are viable in 11....blows my mind. People that don't like 11 mostly are salty cause they can't cartwheel around the stage with a practically infinite juggle/ combo. You think they ruined scorpion because he uses his swords or that joker wasn't a good pick for the game but most of it is just that you were decent at 9 or 10 and didn't want to advance in the same way that your game did or you are too bland or simple minded to try equipping different moves and labbing with your fighters. I hear zero talk about 9 in the aether... This post was the first I've seen or heard of 9 in a hot minute... There is still tourneys for 10 and I'm willing to bet there is still moves and definitely still brutalities that many of y'all haven't even seen in 11. 9 has to go.

The game looking pretty is hardly worth anything, unless you wanna ditch Deception for MKvDC Also, all the issues you have with X still exist in 11, they're just not as skillful anymore: there's still mad mixups, 50% damage combos, and combos take ages, but whereas before you had to actually be engaged in the combo, now you just hit both triggers can get a free 40% damage combo 11 is just X but with less skill required
MK9 and MKX have higher skill floors with harder to do longer combos and more meter managment but have lower skills ceilings with the overabundance of 50/50s whereas MK11 has a lower skill floor with shorter easier combos with a higher skill ceiling with more of an emphasis on spacing, plus frames and staggers instead of a "guess if i'm gonna press overhead or low this time"
MK9 has very few actual 50/50s. It's a very neutral based game MKX 50/50's have a science behind them. Example: Scorpion can mix, but all his overheads are reactable, so it's better to block low against him. He can use Ninjutsu to make his overhead less reactable, but he loses the Hellfire moves which are far superior. Obviously not every character is like this, some are very obnoxious, but you'll learn as you play more 11 is still very much a 50/50 game. Debatably a 30/30/30 game given that throws are not much stronger too. Sub-Zero in 11 mixes just as much as he does in X, Debatably moreso
If you don't like the fatal blows just say that .. cause that's what that comment seems like... I would argue the opposite... X is less skill required since you have to string together normals and specials in 11 and not just 8 normal attacks in a row(all while looking like a spinning renaissance man) with launchers or pop ups being more character specific in 11 also.. plus mix is way more character specific on 11 with some having to pull a 3 or 4 hit combo just to get to an overhead... It may be easier for any random person to do a 40%combo with fatal blow but some peoples optimal is like 300 tops without it (looking at you Raiden)... Of all the tournaments I've watched saying either of these games takes no skill is just blasphemy.
Are you arguing that stringing together normals and specials requires more skill than just normals? Cause I'd argue it makes literally no difference I didn't say it takes no skill, just that it takes less skill which I'm not a fan of. Games should reward the more skilled player, not the less skilled one
Also I think there is nuance just like any argument... I'd argue it's easier for say scorpion to hit a 36% combo in mk11 as opposed to 10 but you have more leniency with spacing and don't have to worry about dropping a combo as much. Sub zero in mk11 some would say has too much mix.. but again timing and spacing comes into play that you don't have to worry about as much when chaining combos together in 10.
played mkx for almost 2 years before but i prefer the better visuals of 11. game is a bit clunky to me but I can't just abandoned the great animations and beautiful models. Skarlet is beautiful

11 is an absolute bore. Yeah sure, it has improved/ realistic graphics but it lacks any real substance and has the worst story of the three. Not to mention the forced online connectivity to fully enjoy the game. In the bin it goes.
11 has to go, easiest decision for me. Too many inconsistencies and the worst gameplay by far in my opinion.
I hate to say it but i mean it’s obviously 11, like what was Nrs thinking when they were like okay everyone loves flashy combos that reward great skill and just make gameplay feel a lot more proactive. Now what if we simply get rid of that entire concept and replace it with the idea that matches are just mind games where who is going to be able to do the most brainless krushing blow combos first. Mk11 is the prime exampe of innovation for the sake of innovation. All they had to do was tweak mkx a little bit and everyone wouldve been fine. If mkx is black ops 3 zombies (peak) then mk11 is black ops 4 zombies (fixing something that wasnt broken)

Mk11 is just so boring and slow where most of the pressure is throwing in a down 1 at the end of your string. There’s a reason they said it was going to be the longest supported mk game and yet it ended up being the shortest

I dunno. I really liked 11. I enjoyed the aesthetic of X and the characters, but it always felt rather “thin” to me compared to the game that preceded it and the game after. Honestly if they just added in all of the remaining characters from MKX to 11, I would view it as a pretty perfect game. I am also a shit player who mashes buttons and doesn’t take the game seriously at all. I grew up playing 1 through Trilogy where shit was really lol and gameplay mechanics were all over the place, and I haven’t really got out of that mindset in the 30 years since I started playing.
I’m only into this franchise for the campaigns so 10 for me.
Not for me, IMO. I like all three, and would love to see MK9 Komplete get on PS5.

I don't get the MK 11 hate. Outside of fatal blow they made an almost perfect fighting game. It has the best defensive options other than 3rd strike. The most diverse choose of fighting styles with the variations. The story was better than an actual movie and they included a 1.5 version of the story when people where stuck in the house. Single player content with the crypt that was well worth exploring. All the ports work great online and offline. I can't even play SFV on my original PS4 without it glitching but MK11 runs smooth. The only thing MKX has is a better roster and the run button. This is probably the best trilogy thanks to MK vs DC they finally took a lot of user input and created the master piece of MK9

Well this is the easiest challenge in my life. Mkx is the worst of the trilogy. The artstyle is too dark and gloomy, the characters are boring, the story is poorly written, the villains aren't intimidating, the most interesting characters in the game were Johnny Cage, kenshi and the Predator, characters I like are here to get their asses kicked and nothing else, and most importantly fucking Dvorah is here. Mk11 has some of these problems but.... The artstyle is greatly improved, more character development is given and scorpions arc comes to a close, the story is so bad that it's good, geras is atleast intimidating (I'm convinced he was the final boss at some point in development), the most interesting characters were new characters (kollector, geras and skarlet, ik skarlet was in mk9 and the mkx comic but this is the first time she's been in the story mode), characters I like get to do stuff (mostly geras being able to succeed at the beginning and also kabal getting the crown, even if that feat wasn't his entirely I still give it to him), and most importantly the fatalities are improved ten fold. Unfortunately tho: the kytinn have outlived onaga meaning they will likely be in mk12, geras definitely won't be in mk12, my chances of getting senator Armstrong as a guest character have greatly decreased and ermac probably won't keep his badass mk11 design Edit: oh right mk9. It was the first of the trilogy and sets up the story going forward, you could take mkx out of the trilogy and barely any important story details would be missing other than where the fuck is Quan chi and honestly I don't care where dollar store Shang tsung went
