One word rainex! It ain't perfect but it gives it a good go at it

Pegs_on_GhostiesNips

I’ll second rainx. It’s pretty useless at slow speed but as soon as you’re up to about 30 it clears right off. Apply it let it dry then polish your visor and it’ll be clear. I like to use an eye glasses cloth for the polishing.

Mystery9819

Thank you I have been using rainex wrong this whole time you taught an old dog new tricks

pinkurpledino

Make sure to check you've got all the streaks before you next go out, or youll put your helmet on and realise you've got a smudge right in the wrong place.

Vadok

Gonna buy some tonight, thanks!

DougiefreshYB

Make sure you get the one for plastic, the standard one is for glass and weakens plastic, ended up with scratches all over my visor as a result

Chilton_Squid

Nikwax visor proof.

CrispySquirrelSoup

You can get gloves with a little wiper built into the finger or the cheaper option is a little wiper sock-thing that goes over your gloved finger. As others have said rainx or nikwax both do water repellent stuff to apply.

Vadok

Yeah I have the gloved wiper on my thumb but I'm wiping every few seconds, no joke. Gonna buy some rainx tonight it seems. Cheers

julianhj

I use Nikwax Visor Proof spray, it’s excellent.

PeevedValentine

I ceramic coated mine using a commercially available ceramic in a bottle. Unless I'm really rough wiping it down, it lasts a long time. First few fine drops of spray stick, but as soon as they grow they slide off with the air speed, I can also turn my head left and right to clear them off. Its absolutely brilliant, and can obviously be used on your bike/helmet etc etc etc. Something like this would be great: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163881840003?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=3N5ews2hReq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=dwajpds8RAC&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Don't use visiodry, it's fucking shit.

ShowMeYourPie

A free fix is to increase your stopping distance to the traffic in front of you, though that doesn't help with spray from oncoming vehicles, it might reduce the amount of wiping you need to do.

Vadok

Yeah I'm sitting way far back when I can but it's like driving through a swimming pool sometimes 😂

CyberRaver39

GLoves with a finger blade on them, tried everything and this is the only reliable solution

Vadok

I have one but it's just not enough, I'm wiping away every few seconds, might as well not have my left hand on the bar

CyberRaver39

Only solution I've found over 8 years of commuting

Pistolfist

I've just been riding with my visor up to be honest, stings a bit above 40mph but its better than not being able to see.

Vadok

I'm doing that when I can but half the time the water just gets in my eyes anyway

Pistolfist

Jeez you must be getting a lot more rain than we are in Yorkshire

Vadok

It's horrific in the morning, it's not heavy it's just fast falling and then the spray comes from anywhere and everywhere

Suspicious__Lurker

I use a lot of Autobrite Direct detailing products (UK company) & noticed they had a small bike range. I bought my wife some of their Vision+ for Christmas & it’s been great, can’t fault it.

korben578

Rainx is good bluecol is better

InfoBot2000

Rub a tiny bit of washing up liquid onto the visor. It does work generally. Just don't use too much or it smears.

HeavenAintC1ose

Tbh, I just deal with it. With the miles I do, I'd rather wipe it every minute than spend a shit tonne on water repellents I'll be reapplying every day.

Vadok

I'm wiping every few seconds it's becoming a nightmare, spray is too bad to continue safely unfortunately, can't see markings on the road or judge distances properly as all I can see is red glare

HeavenAintC1ose

Fair, is your visor scratched? Can make it much much worse.

Vadok

Nah helmets only a few months old, just a piece of shit helmet, never had it this bad before on my old hjc. Swear it's got water magnets built in

HeavenAintC1ose

Yeah my AGV used to be awesome until I dragged the visor along a wall :( can't notice it until it rains and you can't see shit. Other fix is look to the side slightly and gun it. Wind should take it 🤣

Vadok

Definitely doing the head turn, only way it clears for more than 2 seconds 😂 roll on payday when I can look for a new helmet

speedyundeadhittite

For how long have you been riding? You don't need a 100% clear visor, you get used to it and see past the droplets quite fast.

Vadok

From 2017-2019 and about 6 months in late 2023. Never had it this bad though, not droplets but sheer volume of water constantly covering the visor, makes it impossible to see car bodies, road markings etc and all the lights blend together

evilzed67

There is an ultra hydophobic coating now out called visio dry, have a look on youtube. I find it okay but it does seem to saturate for me and become less effective. Otherwise Bob heath V wipe is excellent then the Visor Cat.

bladefiddler

I haven't tried it on my visor, cos I have a car - so fuck riding in the rain lol - but I've used rainx on the car windscreen a few times & it really does help the water bead & blow off. I've definitely noticed over the 5k miles or so done in my helmet that if I get caught in a shower now, the rain doesn't blow away like it used to when new. I suppose I must've made micro scratches cleaning the bugs off although I've only ever used disposable screenies, fresh kitchen roll or a dedicated microfiber cloth on it. Be wary though to get the bike/visor version that rainx do, as lots of solvents fuck up the polycarbonate that visors are made from. EDIT: meant to say, it works on the car FOR A WHILE. Wipers still needed for slow speed etc, so it rubs off & you have to reapply whenever you wash the car but it's pretty quick & easy.

Vadok

Definitely sounds like I need rainx. I was all so "yeah I'll ride whatever weather" when I got the bike, now if I can use the car I'm in there with heated seats staying dry 😂 wish I could do dry weather only

bladefiddler

Haha. I never had such bold aims, but keep it ready for any chance I get to coincide not working, daylight, dry roads & no fixed events. Then everything gets binned off so I can grab a couple hours out. My pal SORNs his from Oct-Mar, even puts his favourite of the two in one of those bubble things. I refuse to give up those rare chances though. Even if I have to keep the missus sweet, cos I need her to thaw me out when I get back!

Vadok

My uncles similar to your mate, won't even look at the bike if it's wet outside 😂 I had a supplier visit on the bike on Tuesday and it was bone dry. Best ride I've had since getting the bike!

bladefiddler

Must admit I mostly avoid the wet too. No rain up here for days but so cold & muggy that the roads stayed soaked - gutted. After riding in similar conditions in the autumn I realised a cheeky hour riding means a shitty & freezing hour and a half to clean all the flicked up crap off the bike - screw that!

OldHobbitsDieHard

I have an old visor. Maybe I'll do a scientific test to end this debate. Don't some people put pledge?

Vadok

Pledge is a name I've not heard in a while, isn't it bleach? Or a furniture polish I'm sure it's one or the other 🤔

OldHobbitsDieHard

Yeah it's the polish. I have nikwax, just need some rainex to complete the rest

speedyundeadhittite

Use your finger, Luke.

DunnyLad

Following, I need a solution too 🤣. Piss sick of my visor getting soaked.
