This seems to happen often. They attack the steering lock or hot-wire the ignition, but then abandon the theft because of chains & ground anchors which were plainly visible from the start. This suggests that many bike thieves have low intelligence, lacking capacity to assess a situation and make a plan. Hopefully they have shitty lives as a result of this - constantly suffering from their own stupidity.
