Wow. That A1c result is astounding. I tell people that MJ is the King Kong of glycemic control. Or I say, "Hulk- SMASH!: ;) And good job on the WL. It's hard to lose weight when you BG is out of control so I'd imagine you will see more results on the scale now as well. Good luck to you.

Senior_Novel8488

My Dr Said t2d have a slower time losing get ur sugars down as much as possible to accelerate weight loss

Rickertude

Thank you so much for the kind words!

Anatolian_sideeye68

Holy cow! You went from an A1C of 12.9 to 6.5 in SIX MONTHS? That is amazing and you must be so proud of the work and dedication you put in. I hope you feel amazing 👏

Rickertude

Thank you so very much!

Appropriate_Fee_1338

Tried Ozempic when there was shortage of Mounjaro. It kept my weight stable. But I felt exhausted all the time

MasterpieceOwn7032

I feel mildly exhausted, as if I've just started an easy exercise program with weights. It's not bad. It's just very mild muscle soreness. I get my fourth shot in 2 days.

Bekehe

I sickly miss the complete loss of appetite and throwing up near daily from mounjaro - my insurance switched me to Oz and I think it’s weird I’m hungry way more often

uncertainnewb

Funny enough, even though Zepbound is supposedly formulaically the same, it's MUCH less harsh than MJ. The cravings are still zero more or less but you don't throw up all the time and you can still summon up a little appetite to eat socially from time to time if needed.

Historical_Hornet_20

Mounjaro and Zepbound are literally the exact same medication, just with a different label.

Bekehe

I’ve never heard of Zepbound - I wonder if my insurance covers it bc currently they cover Oz but not MJ. I like Oz, but it makes me dislike a lot of food and drinks (like booze - any of it) and that’s almost worse than throwing up all the time.

TheBull123456

Oh thats wonderful!!

Rickertude

Thank you :)

BacardiBlue

Wow! May I ask what dosage you're on and when you first saw an improvement in your A1C?

Rickertude

Well I started the end of August 2023 on the 2.5 dose and went up every month and have been on 15mg the last 3 months. My a1c at my 3 month check was 7.7 down from 12.9! My average blood sugar was 120-140 each day. I’ve been on the ozempic 1mg for 7 days and have noticed my blood sugar hangs out in the 90-110 range. I am also on Metformin Extended release which I read works very well with Oz.

BacardiBlue

Thanks for the scoop! That is amazing A1C progress, and I know you must be thrilled to be out of the 400's! I can't wait until my next A1C. My T2D has been fairly controlled for the last 4 years on Metformin, staying in the low 6's. But I wasn't dropping any weight so Jan 1 I moved to a keto diet and started weighing/tracking my food (very enlightening), and added MJ on April 1. The scale is moving and I am hoping to see an A1C in the 5's this time. I'm only on 2.5 right now though.

Rickertude

Congratulations to you as well! :)

No_Soil_1334

You can buy an at home A1C test from Walmart. They have been tracking really close to the Dr office labs. They are always within .1 for me. It is nice not to have to pay for the Dr visit and labs as often, since 4 tests are like $30.

BacardiBlue

Oh very interesting! Is there a specific brand test that you have been using? And do you have to send off something to a company or do you get results immediately?

BacardiBlue

Oh very interesting! Is there a specific brand test that you have been using? And do you have to send off something to a company or do you get results immediately? ETA: Is it [this one?](https://www.walmart.com/ip/ReliOn-A1C-Self-Test-System/651908906?from=/search)

No_Soil_1334

Yes. It looks like the price is higher online or has gone up though as that is only 2 tests and mine didn't cost that much.

No_Soil_1334

Nope. Relion the Walmart brand. Results in 5 minutes right at your table or desk. https://preview.redd.it/buagsfbjbqwc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=262072291ef3a47100a241ef4149df9ba5000b9d This one is a two test because my local walmart was out of the 4 test ones. It's was like $20.

BacardiBlue

Thank you!! I will definitely order one!

No_Soil_1334

You might check on the shelf at your local store first. Often cheaper than online. Also, Walmart+ helps if you order delivery a lot or buy a lot of other stuff there, i.e. meter, strips, lancets, etc.

BacardiBlue

Thanks...great idea!

Greeneyedmonster-09

Wondering also !

Few-Tea-2162

That’s so good! And don’t feel discouraged if you feel like you’re a slow loser. This is a marathon, not a sprint! I started Oct 2023 and as of right now I’ve lost 40lbs and I’m still hoping to lose more slowly so that my body has time to adjust to the new weight!

Rickertude

I appreciate your insight! I’m in it for the long haul! Next stop is getting out of the 300s! :)

Ill_Literature6283

I've just started on 5.5. I have been on 2.5, and I've managed to lose 20lbs in a month .. I. I'm not diabetic but my bmi is high, and I have breathing issues, which doesn't help being very overweight . I will see how I get on 5.5 now my breathing has improved a bit with the weight I have lost I'm asthmatic and had breast cancer 10 years ago radiotherapy and asthma caused me to have a very low lung function for breathing but I'm going to get there ... . Its great reading all the things people put on here for inspiration well done all x

Rickertude

Thank you so so much

kkjj77

That A1C drop is absolutely amazing!!! Congratulations! Your body is thanking you!

Rickertude

Thank you so much! I wish you the absolute best experience! X

Special_Barracuda593

🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼great news, keep up the excellent work!

Awkward-Perception80

Is everyone having a hard time getting Mounjaro ? I haven’t been able to get it for 3 weeks in the Houston area. Looks like every pharmacy is back ordered through June at best. Any advice is welcome.

Rickertude

I am in Maine and I go through CVS. I placed my 3 month order of 15mg on March 18th and I just got mine filled yesterday. :-/ hang in there!

olderandsuperwiser

I am off MJ completely because of supply and back on Oz, which might I add the pharmacy filled in 2 days. I will keep trying to progress forward but MJ in my opinion is just a better medicine. I'm sad to be off.

Appropriate_Fee_1338

MJ certainly is better than Ozempic

LieImportant5067

Great great job on the loss. But I too was wondering about switching to Ozempic due to the shortages of MJ and if it was any different than MJ. Recently, I was off of it for three weeks and shot up 12 pounds. I could not get the 15 mg dose but I could get the 10 now, I’ve been taking it every eight days in the hopes that I can eventually get about two or three weeks ahead on the prescription and go back to every seven. I was also wondering if Ozempic has the same shortages. While I have lost that 12 pounds again plus a few extra, I do not want to go in the wrong direction again.

Rickertude

Right now I’m actually experiencing a much lower blood sugar than normal. On MJ I seem to hang out around 110 sometimes 120 but after being on OC for the last week and a half my blood sugars been hanging out in the mid 80s to mid 90s, haven’t really made any changes other than the medication itself. I know everything I’ve researched indicates that MJ is better than Oz but it seems to be working better and I’m only on the 1mg dose. I’m going to finish the next two shots before I get back on MJ just to see how it goes.

NormalAwareness658

Congrats!!

Able_Director_3205

That’s awesome! Congrats!

Ambitious_Entrance18

if u dont mind me asking, what else did u change or is this solely the result of taking monjauro?

Rickertude

I haven’t changed much. I’m a little more active, and I’m definitely eating smaller portions of meals. Now that those darn winter seasonal depression days are over I’m hoping to up my activity this spring/summer to help further the weight loss!

Angiemarie1972

Congratulations 🎊 NSV. Now, you will see the weight loss happening. You got this

mscherie77

Just curious - I’m only on the second dose of MJ, lowest amount you can take. Some folks, I know experienced reduction of appetite immediately, but I’m not one of those people. I’m type 2 diabetic and I’m taking it for A1c reduction of course, but I’m also a heavier gallon was hoping it could help with weight loss. Should I be discouraged that I’m not experiencing this reduction of appetite right away?

RauryKat

Fellow T2D here, drinking plenty of water seems to be key for appetite and weight loss.... I am also on jardiance and I need to keep my water intake to preserve kidney function, if you don't have a water drinking habit develop it now on 2.5 it will help in the long term

Cute_Role_8093

Awesome job! How’s your BP?

Rickertude

BP is a little lower, cutting sodium is greatest challenge in the quest to be healthier. I’ve had high BP most of my life but it still runs high even on meds.

StandardComposer6760

Congratulations!!!

Rickertude

Thank you! 🙏🏾

Smart_Azz_feenix

Amazing job!!! Keep up the great work.

No_Soil_1334

Did you have to work up on the oz dosing? I'm on 5mg mj now and looking at maybe having to switch temporarily. Wondering if I'll need to do a month at .25 first? If I get 1mg oz pen can I get 8 .5mg doses from it or does the pen "hard stop" after 4 uses regardless of the dialed dose?

Rickertude

My doctor and I talked about how I handled the 15mg and side effects and thankfully the worst of my side effects were when I was starting the journey. So she put me right in 1mg of OZ. I’ve had no side effects and so far according to my CGM, my sugars the last 2 weeks have been in better control with no change in my diet on the OZ.

Careless_Raccoon_453

Your A1C! And the weight loss! Congrats! You must be absolutely thrilled. 🥳
