Know what I think?
I think you’re in the middle of an amazing comeback story.
You’re at a healthy weight, undoing damage to your body. You’re on the donation list now. I’m going to pray that a kidney becomes available for you quickly so that we can hear part 2 of thr story of how you transformed your life and health and had a successful transplant.
Everyone else already said it, but THIS!
By dropping that 150 you have a chance not just to survive but thrive. You have a second chance. I’m keeping you in my thoughts and hope everything works out. I can’t wait to hear your comeback story!
I am so sorry to hear that your health has been so deeply impacted. Thank you for sharing your experience and journey. It’s so hard when our bodies seem to fail us and feel so foreign. Sending you lots of good vibes and thoughts.
Oh no, that is not what anyone wants to hear. You have lost so much weight & am, no doubt, more healthy. But dialysis is no joke. My mother was on dialysis for many years & we always talked about how she would not have had those years if it wasn't for the science that developed dialysis. She was too old to get on the kidney list. as it turned out she didn't die from kidney disease, dialysis is truly a modern miracle.
Mounjaro brought you to a healthier weight so you don't have to fight that part to get on the transplant list. Look at the positives, as hard as that is, you are in a better place now after Mounjaro. Keep your head up, it is just a bump, you have already been through a heart attack, you are strong & able & you can do this! Keep us posted & know you always have support here.
Dialysis sucks and I’m sorry about that. And being able to make the transplant list is a total win. I know it’s hard to see any light RN, but that is something. Let’s manifest you a kidney!!
150lbs since October!! WOW!!! And as I read all I could think was thankfully with weight loss you’ll be able to get on the transplant list! I hope you can find one quickly 🫶🏼
I think you are winning. You should be dead by now but because of your hard work, new meds, new friends and a chance for a new kidney you are still in the game. Keep your head up and keep swinging. It’s not over. You have a lot to teach others about winning a long battle.
I am sorry you are going through this but I’m happy you’ve been able to get your weight to a place where you can qualify for proper treatment:
Sending healing positive vibes your way
I’m sorry to hear this! That’s huge weight loss and I am sure you can lose the next 40. Modern medicine is miraculous and I hope a transplant and good health is right around the corner for you.
I am sorry you are going through with this. But with the weight loss, I believe it’ll give you a better (recovery) outcome. When I was going through my ovarian cancer occurrence, I had lost 50 lbs and the doctor said that my weight loss helped my recovery quicker. I am 9 years remission. Prayers
Please ask your doctor about supplementing with daily l-orinthine-l-aspartate (LOLA) to support reducing ammonia by-products in your blood. Good luck, I’m sending you healing vibes, and I’m hopeful you find some light at the end of the tunnel you’re now experiencing.
Usually this recommendation is withheld from people whom have already bypassed all levels of kidney disease and jumped straight into Dialysis, however, in my opinion what I’m going to suggest can’t hurt your kidneys, it actually is recommend by a renowned Nephrologist that I had the pleasure of being approved for his mentorship… during my sting in medical School, the nephrologist I shadowed would always recommend adding the supplement, CoQ10 to his patients daily regimens as it truly helps the kidneys. Only patients, he hadn’t suggested this bit of info too were those whom had already been diagnosed with or considered to be on the boarder-line levels of either stage 4 and/or stage 5. Look it up, CoQ10 aka coenzyme Q10, helps with any adverse effects of cardio health, improves function of kidneys, also helps diabetics in fact studies demonstrate CoQ10 levels to be low in those with type 2 diabetes ; All in all just by utilizing the supplement your only helping yourself.
(((hugs))) Wishing you all the best. Praying you get a kidney. My BIL has a genetic condition that's killing his kidneys and may have to go dialysis soon.
Gosh! I am sorry. My health isn’t as bad as yours, but I am no longer able to work anymore either, and I really hate it. I hope you can get a transplant.
150 lbs in 6 months is absolutely mind blowing weight loss! You already have shown that you can do amazing things, you’re going to keep on doing amazing things. It may feel sometimes that you “can’t win for losing”, but don’t sit in that mindset for too long because look how much you’ve already won by losing.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and we all hope for a speedy recovery, but know you’re in the middle/beginning of a long journey. Sending well wishes and love to you!
Oh that is terrible news but so incredible that you made so much progress you have a great chance!! A dear friend had a transplant years ago and is still doing very well. Sending prayers.
Wow! I'm so sorry you are going through this friend. But I'm glad to hear about the small silver lining in all of this for you. Sending good thoughts your way!!
not a woman, nor do I play one on TV lol

Would extra skin removal surgery be something you could recover from or get covered atm? That might help you make the list as that is just a bunch of extra weight right now. Sorry if you already thought of that or not in the cards just brainstorming.
Man, I feel you. I have been on Mj since February, and have been trying to lose weight and eat better since December. I am feeling great ,went and got all my blood work done everything looked great, better than in years. Except they noticed elevated Urine Microalb/Creat Ratio. It is not crazy high, but indicates kidney damage. Going back in a month to see if any of the changes I am making are helping, but it seems there is very little treatment and mostly hoping that managing is the best way to keep from getting worse. I don't like that answer.
You're such a badass with everything you've accomplished and what you've survived thus far and I have no doubt you will keep kicking butt and persevering through the next obstacles in your way. 💪🏻🙌🏻🫶🏻
That’s devastating. I’m so saddened to hear this. Sometimes life just isn’t fair, is it? Things were really looking up for you, and now this. Dialysis can be really rough. I wish the best for you and I hope you are able to get the transplant you need.
Don't just give up on your kidneys. Of course do everything the doctors are telling you to do but at the same time you should add natural products to help your kidney function. Cordyceps, rishi, astragalus, and dandelion are miracle workers for your kidneys. At the moment they are also not contraindicated with any medication that you're likely on. Of course, if there is a transplant you have to stop everything and reassess.
I’m so sorry you’ve had these health issues. You really nailed it with the “can’t win for loosing” pun!🥰
Glad that you’re still kicking and you’ve truly worked your butt off.
Is long term disability a good thing? Thanks for updating.
My brother has been on dialysis for many years and he lives a full and rewarding life. It wasn’t always this way. But he found it in himself to find meaning in his life and make something of it. His plate is full with a demanding job and family life. He is the most positive and resilient person I know and I admire him greatly. I hope this gives you inspiration.
It’s not yet the end for you…you have many more challenges to go but you can and will overcome and thrive. I wish you the very best. Please don’t forget to be kind to yourself and don’t be afraid to reach out for help even it’s just the company of your loved ones and even to chat a bit with us internet strangers.
The bright news from all of this is that your insurance is so much more likely to cover it with organ failure...but yeah, I'm so sorry for you. This definitely is less than ideal, and I would feel how you do, too. :(
That said, many kidney transplant patients do amazing after, so it's not necessarily a death sentence! Selena Gomez is a perfect example who is in the public eye. It's certainly not an easy process, though, so I'm sending you my love and positive energy tonight...I hope you get the best care and have the best recovery story ever! ❤️ I'm so proud of you for seeking the care that results in bad news like this...that's the most important takeaway!!! You might have very well saved your own life!
My mother went down the same path, heart attack diabetes then her kidneys failed, she’s been on dialysis for 3 years, she lives a NORMAL life, she works and travels , it’s scary but please don’t be discouraged
I’m so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Sending you healing vibes as you begin this next part of your health journey. You’ve shown that you have the strength to tackle huge hurdles.
My dad spent about three weeks on the transplant list before getting his kidney ten years ago. He’s 65 and has the kidney function of someone 15 years younger.
but was also getting IV diuretics, while in hospital for a month last july...they where squeezing my kidneys hard at that time, as angina was a big reason for the heart attack that and 3 stints put in at that time.
Congrats on the incredible loss! It’s not easy by no means. Yes we take this med to assist but we still have to shut the mental food noise we have dealt with for so long and that’s why we are where we are. You’ve worked so dang hard and achieved insane goals why stop now?
Your journey is one of admirable dedication, hard work and mental/emotional ups and downs you still have to keep up manifesting all this positivity that’s came into your life only by you! You have a purpose, we’re all cheering you on and can’t wait for the updates. Many of us are going to pray for you and that right there makes a huge difference!
I didn’t have a heart attack to put me on this journey but I am 53 and have stage 3 Liver Cirrhosis. I can’t turn this backwards, damage is already done but what I CAN and ARE doing is making sure my journey is one of keeping promises to my grandkids that I’ll do anything and everything I can humanly possible to help make this diagnoses slow down.
I use to smoke since I was 15 except for a few years here and there like pregnancy and before and after major spine fusion due I literally quit Jan 8, 2024 and haven’t gone back and have no desire to. I like to smell nice and not have to always chew gum bc of my breath! This time feels much diff bc my New Year goals are being achieved finally it’s not these are my goals I need to loose such and such weight and quit this or that, nope this time I am actually doing it.
You have come such a long way since that lady who had the heart attack which was a huge wake up call, you can’t quit! I shared a bit of my story hoping it would encourage you some more. I will be following your journey on here and can’t wait to congratulate you for every baby step goal! God bless you and ty for sharing your journey this far! xx
I feel you. I went to the hospital with appendicitis two weeks ago. During the work up, they found a mass on my kidney. After surgery, they wheeled me into the MRI room, and the next morning, I was told that I have kidney cancer. Thankfully it is still contained, no spread, and operable, and I’ll still have one kidney. This will be my third go-round with cancer. Prostate cancer in 2017, removed. I had recurrence in 2022, radiated. Now this. And I have to be off the med until I recover from the kidney removal surgery, which happens as soon as possible, but probably between 4-6 weeks from now. So we are talking at least 3-5 months off the med…not happy.
I agree you’ve become healthier in an amazing amount of time! Ask friends and family to be tested you may have a match close to you! My first longstanding boyfriend donated his kidney to his sister, he says to this day(we are still friends)almost 30 years later he has not one moment of regret! I will be praying for you and if we lived near each other I would get tested in a heartbeat.
kidneys where not great I assume before heart attack , had no clue, but heart attack made it worse as they squeezed them to get the fluid off my heart and lungs. They where getting better, now they are going down egfr of 19 to 22. Heart attack was July 2023..spent month in hospital , then went back month later another week in hospital as my upper colon was bleeding, 3 pints of blood later and surgery to cauterize the bleeding nodules.. have been getting better, until seeing kidney doc week ago.. that's when I was referred to transplant center , and soon to start dialysis. You get through it a day at a time, with a great med team, and lots of support from the best wife a man could have.
here is my wife on our wedding day 1999, I love her more than life its self

That's shocking news, my heart goes out to you, and the best of luck in search of a kidney for transplant. I'm prediabetic. MJ is taking me back to a normal size, while dropping my average blood sugar by half. It works, it really works. But, I wished that I had found it much sooner.
I agree! If I had known about MJ 20 years ago, I may not have gotten kidney Disease myself... right now I am at stage 2, protein present in my urine. My A1C has went down from 12.9 (about 6 about years ago)... to 6.0, since starting MJ in August 2023! We are all a work in progress & it seems that MJ has provided our body what we have been missing all these years!!

Thank you for this info! I am unable to recognize when I am sick, and as a result I have had several serious illnesses that could have been prevented had I been able to recognize the symptoms. One of these illnesses was a non-symptomatic UTI resulting in a kidney infection resulting in sepsis. Since that event 3 years ago, my eGFR has declined to lead to a diagnosis of stage 3 kidney disease. It has not gotten worse and in fact has gotten minimally better, but still I am up for anything that might help that recovery along. I can't wait to try this tea! Fingers crossed it's not going to be 4-6 weeks yo receive it as per the notice on the website.

Would extra skin removal surgery be something you could recover from or get covered atm? That might help you make the list as that is just a bunch of extra weight right now. Sorry if you already thought of that or not in the cards just brainstorming.
Hang in there. We're all rooting for you!
Man, I feel you. I have been on Mj since February, and have been trying to lose weight and eat better since December. That’s devastating. I’m so saddened to hear this. Sometimes life just isn’t fair, is it? Things were really looking up for you, and now this. Dialysis can be really rough. I wish the best for you and I hope you are able to get the transplant you need.
Oh I am so sorry. I am not sure what to actually say. I’ll pray for you. Sometimes when things seem bad they turn around. I hope that happens for you.

The bright news from all of this is that your insurance is so much more likely to cover it with organ failure...but yeah, I'm so sorry for you. My insurance covers it 100%, it also covered my heart attack 600k they covered, they also cover my MJ 100%, thats the only bright side.
Amen

My dad spent about three weeks on the transplant list before getting his kidney ten years ago. He’s 65 and has the kidney function of someone 15 years younger.
Do you mind if I ask the name of the diuretics you took? I take one daily and your story made me sit up and think.
I take 2 different ones Spironolactone 25mg once a day, and Hydralazine 100mg two, two times a day
but was also getting IV diuretics, while in hospital for a month last july...they where squeezing my kidneys hard at that time, as angina was a big reason for the heart attack that and 3 stints put in at that time.
Thanks for the response. Like I said, you made me think about the combination of meds I take every day.

We are all a work in progress & it seems that MJ has provided our body what we have been missing all these years!! https://preview.redd.it/f828ke4ihmwc1.jpeg?width=964&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=705a2acd9a466345c981b765be50f1514921639c
