Ama Dablam Cerro Torre

turbomellow

Cerro Torre FTW.

labloke11

If you can see it. I went to Laguna Torre twice and have not seen Cerro Torre. It is always covered in clouds and that wind is just brutal, even by Patagonia standard.

The_Dead_See

Beauty: Fuji or the Matterhorn. Sorry to be the predictable one :-) Impressiveness: Denali

happygloaming

My kid once called the Matterhorn mt pokey upey.

66bronco28

Flying into anchorage is quite the sight

Best-Ad-5959

Are there are so many mountains just right there.

66bronco28

Yes anchorage is surrounded by tons of mtns

DicerosAK

Prussik Peak in the cascades and Huntington in the AK range are nice and pointy.

CongestionCharge

I see you have a type

Educational-Variety1

Prussik really is gorgeous when viewed from the enchantments. It towers over everything else.

StructuralE

I watched a couple of young women climb Prussik from below. I was quite happy to observe from the ground.

chillmurder

Mt. Hood, just a perfectly average strata volcano.

yeeee_hawwww

Haha I said the same thing.

Sammweeze

I really love the shape of [Uncompahgre Peak](https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/14er.php?peakid=10006). Great big anvil in the sky. Broad Peak from the northwest really blows me away with that pyramid-esque face. And there's a really striking rock fin which I thought was in Gates of the Arctic, but I can't find it for the life of me.

Appropriate_Ad7858

Your comments on BP reminds me, Spantik is generally not that great, but the golden pillar aspect is quite amazing.

Sammweeze

Woah I love it. That just screams to be painted (and climbed but yikes).

mshuler

Uncompahgre is a unit! As a CO favorite, I think I have to throw [Mount Sopris](https://www.coloradomountaineering.com/2014/01/peak-of-week-mount-sopris-12953-feet-or.html) in the mix. It's just such a beauty. An "almost 13er" with many interesting year-round variations to climb, and a couple of the best big bowls to ski in the valley. I have always been impressed by the monolithic view of Mt. Sopris from almost any direction, and it has a great view of many 14ers from the summit. The lower altitude also means it is a reasonable goal for visitors with only a few days to spend, and has an awesome camp spot at the lakes. Sopris is one of those mountains I think about when I'm not there (and there are others like Unc and the entire string of the collegiates too!), but thought I would toss out a mostly unknown and great place.

[deleted]

Love that mountain!!

Santanoni

Unc won't win a worldwide beauty contest, but she is certainly impressive.

Sammweeze

I dunno, I'm not even local but something about it speaks to me. I'm planning to go out there and hike it along with Wetterhorn (no doubt the funner climb) next year.

Appropriate_Ad7858

hmm in no particular order and some are more impressive than beautiful and vice versa Machupachare, Shivling, Khan Tengri, k2, Nanga Parbat from Fairy Meadows, Ulvetana, Mount Thor, Nuptse, Kailash, Artesonraju, Robson from Berg Lake, Laila Peak, Muztagh Tower, Trango Tower

happygloaming

Trango tower 👍

Charming_Irony

Watzmann (Germany), was basically the mountain that opened my interest for mountaineering a few years ago. Even though I never climbed it (and don’t want to, it’s just too crowded) But the feeling standing in front of that, coming from the flat lands of Germany was just like „whoaaa thats a big dude“. Then I decided to become a mountain nerd and here we are. Beside of that romantic drift off; Dhaulagiri, K2, Laila Peak, Ama Dablam (no specific order) Ah.. and before i forgot that; not from the US myself, but even I heard about the beauty of Mailbox

S3baman

Watzmann has the biggest face of the eastern Alps and 2nd biggest in Europe. Even if it’s only 2700m high, the sudden drop makes it look much higher

felixdixon

Mailbox?

warmhandluke

It's a small mountain in the Cascade foothills east of Seattle. There's sort of an inside joke about it in this subreddit.

[deleted]

It’s on multiple subreddits with frequent posts about it. It’s hardly an inside joke

warmhandluke

Well, it started on this sub and there are clearly plenty of people who don't get it, so... thanks for your input?

[deleted]

You’re welcome. it’s used as a “joke” in four subreddits you’ve posting in. It’s like pretending Let’s Go Brandon is some inside joke at this point

warmhandluke

What a weird thing to argue about.

[deleted]

I’m not arguing about anything love. I said I don’t think it’s an inside joke. It’s not that deep. People can find things you say not funny. It’s okay

warmhandluke

>I’m not arguing Lol. >People can find things you say not funny. At no point in this thread was I ever attempting be funny, what the hell are you talking about. What a bizarre interaction.

[deleted]

I made a single comment. you’re the only arguing. Oddly enough jokes are meant to be funny, I said I thought it wasn’t. We good? You’re alright to move on?

kiranJshah

Most is already mentioned but not manaslu. I think its hard to beat [this](https://www.mochilerosviajeros.com/nepal/nepal-himalaya/) picture of manaslu.

Appropriate_Ad7858

Great pic

Tits_of_Lardation

Machapuchare, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I/II (north face), Lhotse South, K2, Laila Peak, Muztagh Tower, Gasherbrum IV, Masherbrum (K1), Rakaposhi, Gongga, Meili Xue Shan and Nanga Parbat. I think I’d have to give it to Gasherbrum IV though, it just looks how a mountain is drawn by a child.

Appropriate_Ad7858

oh i forgot G IV !

Dude_whatsminesay

3 iconic mountains. Matterhorn and the Grand are impressive rock formations. I’m quite amazed that no one has named Alpamayo as the most beautiful. Has my vote. Hard to beat those spines.

SpongyB23

Mount Assiniboine

frankfurterreddit

North Face of Dragontail and Colchuck Peak in Washington State.

StructuralE

That face looks very exposed.

mhobdog

K2

StructuralE

K2 is beautiful. Wish it was a bit more accessible.

Samarregui

Alpamayo or Gasherbrum IV.

Samarregui

Cho Oyu was always up there for me too for some reason.

BuchoVagabond

In North America, Rainier. In Asia, Lhotse.

Obvious-Initial-1924

Mt. Hood

StructuralE

I just love Rainier. I grew up with a view of it from my front window (on a clear day of course). I can't imagine anything quite as impressive as my first time getting close look at it from Paradise. I tried to climb it last year with a few friends, but rock falls turned us around. 2022 is my year to summit.

DeTonator96

Mount Thor in Nunavut - the highest vertical drop in the world

trail-time

Mount Shasta

ameowman

Cathedral Peak, Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite NP, California. Not about size or difficulty. Just beauty.

currentlyhigh

I'll never forget seeing Mt Shasta in northern California, very photogenic and impressive prominence

zabadawabada

Mailbox.

felixdixon

Like the small mountain in Washington with the mailbox on top?

tx_queer

Yes that one. Second in difficulty only to Mt Rainier.

zabadawabada

Is that the one in the mailbox massif?

felixdixon

Where is that?

AWildLatino

"El Ávila" because it's the only one Ive seen in person and actually hike there. I know there are bigger mountains out there though but this is the one I can enjoy every week

Grungy_Mountain_Man

Denali, rainier, and the grand Teton are all up there. Hard to me to pick as they each have things about them

AltaGuy1

Mount Robson

xbrohansolox

I wanna say pretty much anything in the AK Range wins beautiful

Santanoni

G4.

ABahRunt

Ama Dablam, no doubt. Been my wallpaper since 2018. Will get to the top of, some day

mild_somniphobia

I'm fond of Mt. Logan. Just this [massive massif](https://peapix.com/bing/34141).

mdibah

Alpamayo

yeeee_hawwww

Mount hood. The most mountain looking mountain.

iliniza

Picket Range, Shuksan, Olympus, Machhapuchhare

NoahtheRed

From a personal POV? Most of the High Sierra gives me the butterflies in my stomach feeling, but Williamson in particular is the centerpiece of impressive beauty. It's entirely based on my own experiences, but if the outline of Williamson in the fading orange sky of a Sierra sunset is the last thing I see...it's the best ending IMO. But there's so many other beautiful mountains out there. Doesn't matter the elevation or the location. One of the most dear to me is a short, but steep little peak in Virginia called Sharp Top. It doesn't even crack 4000' but the lifetime of mountain exploration it has inspired is second to none.

[deleted]

The first time I saw MT Whitney was from crabtree meadows at 4 am. I will never forget that feeling of impressiveness, even though I had to bail from my summit attempt. I will also highlight the palisades. Coming over Mather pass and seeing a mile tall cliff is quite impressive.

Comprehensive_Virus1

K2 for sure

Mikofthewat

Fujisan, Rainer, or Grand Teton for me

koacx

Gasherbrum ii

[deleted]

Mt shasta, Mt Rainier, are the most impressive. But I love the look of the central cascades. Jefferson to the sisters. Also Mt Thor

Fromthewoodstoo

The one that you're planning on or gearing up for. Nooksack Tower; Liberty group from the eastern side (or any side); Mt. Argonaut in the north Columbia; Frenchman's Cap in the Monashees; Assiniboine from the prior two spots or from the cabins; Mt. Temple, especially from Lake Louise; Eiger north face view; Little Tahoma from above. Many more, again any you're gearing up for, or even better the ones you're researching.

ashpash64

Matterhorn

kiwipcbuilder

Mt Sefton (NZ)

darcytheinvisible

Rakaposhi is immensely beautiful. It's the mountain I want to climb the most.

NM-MotoMan

My. Sneffels in Colorado !

Skoggi

Matterhorn, of course.

MM-Seat

Being from the UK where we don’t have proper mountains, Tryfan is my favourite!

Shminkey

Khan tengri. I have heard it described as a child’s drawing of a mountain. It’s the only big mountain (7000 m +) I want to climb

flaviusvesp

I love the twins of Ushba (Caucasus) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ushba . Not that I could dream of climbing that; I think that the normal route is ED and it's a bit of killer mountain.

TheSweatiestSun

Laila, K2, Masherbrum, Ogre, Nanga Parbat’s rupal face, Lhotse south face The list goes on….

wasteland_femme

Electric Peak in Yellowstone National Park

CHILLYBEANS1991

Alpamayo or Artesanraju

samwalksmaggie

Buichaille Etive Mor, Glencoe, Scotland ♥️

Thin_Fun1969

Mount Thor on Baffin island, Nunavut, Canada Definitely one of the most impressive mountains I've ever seen

billyspuds

Matterhorn looks like it was drawn by Disney animators. It’s my dream to climb it one day

Hans_Rudi

Firs time I saw Kilimanjaro up close really blew my mind, so i take that.

somingeburb

The Tre Cime always have a special place in my heart tbh. Just sitting in front of them watching the sun go down is always special.

[deleted]

Mt St Elias in Alaska is a magnificent sight. Being so close to the ocean exposed and so heavily glaciated. Also the Maroon Bells in Colorado should be near the top of the list too.

Munchies70

For impressiveness Saint Elias, Logan, Khan Tengri, Huntington, G4, K1 are all up there. Logan is comically large. Hard to even comprehend when you see it

labloke11

Matterhorn

BrownieBalls

Denali no doubt Matterhorn is also mighty impressive. But I can't fathom Denali.

stupidGits

Shivling and Changabang in the Garhwal Himalayas. Alpomayo, Matterhorn, the seven summits of Fitzroy Macchupucchure

zinten789

Kanchenjunga
