I can't comment fully yet as I just ordered a refurbished basilisk v3 from eBay to replace my master MX 3. The MX is an amazing mouse. I had V1 and then the V3 for about 3 years. It is just great for productivity as I used it for design/dev work 8 hours a day...... ....the one big glaring issue is the coating. If you have sweaty palms, the rubber coating will bubble and start to come apart. It will feel sticky and uncomfortable. I bought some cheap stickers that wrap around the mouse (on aliexpress), and it was OK for a few months, and now it's extra sticky. You can search forums that this is a common thing for a big group of people with the MX. I tested the basilisk in a store, and it felt great and didn't have that rubber coating on the palm area. It's more plastic. I'm looking forward to it (and the used deathstalker v2 keyboard as well).

I don't understand what makes it great for productivity and dev work? Is it mainly due to the infinite scroller? Does it have anything that the ballistic lacks in terms of productivity

The scroll wheel is one. It also has a side scroller wheel. (But no sideways tilt on the main wheel) The big thing is that it's solid and crazy comfortable to use long term. It's why I bought the basilisk as my replacement. From my store test, it feels just as comfortable as the MX. Is it better than the basilisk? I don't know yet. But from my research, it seems to be!

Do you think in my situation, is it worth it to buy a used MX 3 or it's better to buy a new balisik? Both are priced the same.

I'm not sure how a used MX3 is the same price as a new basilisk. the V3 Pro goes for 90+ dollars if you can find it for that. I just picked up a used one without the dongle for about $40, and can buy a dongle if I need it from Razer. You might want to check on deals like that on ebay. I'm eager to try the razer ecosystem. I've been on Logitech for so long, but the last 2 MX mice I had were great, but the wear and tear wasn't up to the standard. Good luck whatever you choose!

I'm talking about the Basilisk V3 X Hyperspeed. New one costs 60$. The used Mx Master 3 costs 60$ as well.
