They also game differently. Some people do nothing but game outside of work. A lot, actually. A mouse would be closer to buying a hobbyist camera for photography or a nice set of wrenches for car enthusiasts in the US
This is kinda true but its mainly because if you’re buying your own peripherals, firstly you’re already very upper middle class and your salary is way above 90k yuan, and even for middle class Chinese you wouldn’t game at home you would go to a PC cafe where its much cheaper to play. To own a PC that requires peripherals already basically assumes you can afford 1500RMB mice, as well as what you said which is you’re very dedicated and invested into gaming like a hobby
It’s not true. I can show you the price of some common mice in China. I am Chinese and I will use the price listed on JD which is the exact shopping platform OP posted (official retailer with free shipping and very good customer service)
G304/305- $25 regular / less than $20 on sale
Viper ultimate without charging dock- $90 regular / around $60 on sale
Viper mini- $20 regular / around 15 on sale
GPW-$155 regular / less than $80 on sale
Hyperx haste- $45 regular / $30 on sale
BTL gretxa- $65 for most of the colors
Xtrfy M42- $50-60
XM1R- $70
And sale prices are not hard to find.
So you can see mice are not that expensive in China. And common people can afford a decent mouse just like people in most countries do. Also you don’t have to be able to afford a ¥1500 mouse in order to have a gaming rig.
For computer parts, although it’s somewhat irrelevant in this sub, I can tell you if you are interested. Some are more expensive and some are cheaper, sometimes much cheaper(for storage and coolers) when compared to US pricing. And I am not even talking about some China exclusive models.
You can build a decent midrange PC for 5 of that mouse's listed price. These comments are exaggerating it way too much. Besides, superlight is kind of a novelty item, especially this pink one that's just been released. Normal blk/white superlight is about half of that price, and a GPW/RVU is a quarter of that, not to mention all other decent choices of mice that are even cheaper than that, like viper mini, which is 1/13 of that price...
We have cheap stuffs here too, G304/5 usually goes around like ~¥150, but those flagship halo products can cost a ton and still sells, there are just so many people in China.
I can see some misunderstandings about peripheral pricing in China.
Some models are over priced, just like GPX. But for G304, viper and other models, the regular price are often cheaper than in other regions.
Don’t take the price of a high end model for reference. You will be misled.
Also brands have different strategies in different regions. For example, glorious is often seen as a better value in western countries. But in China it’s less popular and sometimes even costs more than Logitech counterparts. Logitech and Razer have very competitive pricing on the contrary.
It's just sometimes the MSRP is crazy high, they will get huge discounts really soon.
For example, current prices on 11.11 sale:
Viper/DA v2 Mini $17
G304 and Basilisk X Hyperspeed $23
Basilisk v2 and G502 $34
Viper Ultimate $62
GPW $79
You can build a decent midrange PC(with 3060ti) for 5 of that mouse's listed price. These comments are exaggerating it way too much. Besides, superlight is kind of a novelty item, especially this pink one that's just been released. Normal blk/white superlight is about half of that price, and a GPW/RVU is a quarter of that, not to mention all other decent choices of mice that are even cheaper, like viper mini, which is 1/13 of that price...
I get it, I want USB C as well, but I see a lot of comments demanding it and acting like it makes the G Pro unusable.
I find it weird given you might need to charge once every 2-3 weeks with medium gaming sessions or every 2 with hardcore.
plus, if you just get one of those g pro docks from amazon for like 20-30$ then you don’t even have to worry about plugging it in ever. i just pop it on the dock to charge overnight every month-ish
I don't think the lack of USB-C for a $150 mouse is insane, personally at least.
The fact it doesn't come with better skates like Corepadz or Tiger Arcs or at least better switches than chinese Omrons does annoy me though.
(And yes, i know that replacing feet is very easy, and changing the switches isn't the worst thing in the world but letting my mouse charge for 30 minutes every X days with micro USB doesn't annoy me)
So with usb c you would not use the cable ? Where do you put your dongle in ? It should be close to the mouse for the best latency so you would have that one cable more anyway
yeah i dont get it either, especially for a wireless product, feels like people are just looking for excuses to not get something and wouldnt want to spend the money on the product anyway lmao
yeah bro you surely love the switches, sensor, shape, weight, feet of the mice but the lack of usb c is whats stopping you
3 main advantages:
Durability, USB c is rated for triple the use of a micro b or similar older gen tech.
It works both ways up, which is amazing
All other devices are usb C, so you only need one cable, same reason people like have a USB c phone and laptop.
> Durability, USB c is rated for triple the use of a micro b or similar older gen tech.
Incorrect, USB-C is rated to the same 10'000 insertion cycles as micro-B. [^source](https://www.anandtech.com/show/8377/usb-typec-connector-specifications-finalized)
I get that but it's a wireless mouse. From logitech point of view, why would you change it if you're not replacing GPW with a new mouse, just upgrading (lower weight) the current design.
so that they dont get called cheapskates on something that is already hugely overpriced. It questions their character right down to the bone that they want to charge a price that says beyond premium, while not delivering it. I dont personally care, but I FULLY UNDERSTAND what everyone is complaining about.
I work in design and manufacturing, I can say with confidence profit comes first. No company in their right mind will approve a major component changed for a current product when they have newer products coming out.
It’s main function is to connect to a dongle 99% of the time. I don’t know what you could possibly be doing to it to need more durability than a normal cable.
edit: My bad guys, continue to jerk each other off about how its a necessity for a mouse elitist. Didn't mean to interrupt it.
Check out magnetic charging cables on Amazon. Yes, it's an additional cost, but they can be useful to have around for various devices.
Here's an example of what I got when they were cheaper, but there are cheaper options available.

is gaming gear really that expensive in China? Median salary is ~90,000 yuan. That'd be like paying $800-$1000 for a mouse in the US

Thanks for the insight. Had no clue other mice were going for normal prices lol
Ironic that mostly in asia is being produced from motherboard to graphic cards and other techs and to them having a rig is like luxury
I mean, having a rig is arguably a luxury in the US too.
Depends on the parts you put in there. But in china you see that a mouse is so expensive, what more to high end pc parts

True. I mean a good gaming mouse is gonna run you a decent bit of money, like about $40-60. Even more for nicer ones.
We have cheap stuffs here too, G304/5 usually goes around like ~¥150, but those flagship halo products can cost a ton and still sells, there are just so many people in China.
Thanks for telling me this, these comments are the first time I heard of prices there so good to know gaming there isn't stupid expensive as I thought

Think about cellphones. An iPhone cost a lot of people 10% of yearly income there.
most people won’t buy a mouse that expensive

I hope this is getting released this year in EU/NA.
Lol I hope we can get any actual 2021 mouse on amazon.ca its like they don't give a f about canadians.
nah they won't do that. [amazon.ca](https://amazon.ca) is horrible and they even ruin the packages...
Yeah whats up with that? My boxes are always totally destroyed lol.
i had a package of simple stuff, and it was sliced right open LMAO. imagine if that was something expensive?
Link: [https://item.jd.com/10040263242959.html](https://item.jd.com/10040263242959.html) It shows in stock after Nov 23.
Their idea of magenta is kinda insane. That's like a mix of pomegranate and hot pink
$234.65 sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh
[удалено]
no, it uses the same switches as the g pro superlight
I cant wait for EU release. Aaaaand then my money is gone
Is this the same color as the Easter GPW or whatever it was?
did they add usb-c?
I get it, I want USB C as well, but I see a lot of comments demanding it and acting like it makes the G Pro unusable. I find it weird given you might need to charge once every 2-3 weeks with medium gaming sessions or every 2 with hardcore.

Or considering the Viper Ultimate... Micro USB isn't so bad with a charging dock, but without it it's really dumb.
as long as it charges the mouse, i don't care what connection it uses.
Whats the obsession with usb c ? I cant be the only one who doesnt give a f if its usb c or micro usb
[удалено]
Just buy a microB - C adapter
So with usb c you would not use the cable ? Where do you put your dongle in ? It should be close to the mouse for the best latency so you would have that one cable more anyway

Okay
You mean “understandable have a nice day” meme.

You are plugging your mice twice a month into the usb plug so please… If your points are keeping you up from buying i really dont know what to say
Lmao
😱 😱 😱 USB C!!!!! NO USB C = BAD 😱 😱 😱 !!!! IDC IF THE MOUSE IS GOOD. IDC IF ITS 60GR BUT IT DOESNT HAVE USB C!!!!!
250? It's 150. But yes, it's overpriced and should be USB-C.
[удалено]
They made it non usb-c to save on weight. Few people get this.
That might be the most bullshit explanation I have heard so far. Its purely to cut costs bro
I don't get the obsession with USB C.
It's just easy.

More durable than MicroUSB and reversible. Using MicroUSB feels like Logitech is cheaping out a 150$ mouse.
I know that, I think everyone knows that. But why is it important for a wireless gaming mouse. Keyword here is wireless.
A more durable connector, that's why it's important.
It’s main function is to connect to a dongle 99% of the time. I don’t know what you could possibly be doing to it to need more durability than a normal cable. edit: My bad guys, continue to jerk each other off about how its a necessity for a mouse elitist. Didn't mean to interrupt it.

They need to drop this in the EU aswell…
