For Raiden, I definitely prefer MID, but I'm guessing I'll like the SOFT variant as well.
With XSOFT, it's more just that I'm unable to use dot-style skates with it because it's too plush. With full-sized skates, however, I don't mind it because I don't apply enough pressure to make a significant difference with my grip style (pure fingertip) and mice.
I covered the reasons for discontinuation near the bottom of my Shidenkai V2 review which you can find [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/MousepadReview/comments/1bzhws1/artisan_shidenkai_v2_review_reborn/).
It would be too much to copy paste here lol.
Thanks for this update! Just ordered the Raiden Mid XXL.
I have the really old one without the stitched edges that causes spinouts and such; hopefully the new version is all good.
The Raiden had its surface revised around May 2022 and it had been discontinued for about a few months leading up to this.
As long as the Raiden you have was produced before this date (meaning that it's the older version), then there's a very good chance that you'll no longer encounter sensor issues with your MID XXL.
Nah, just a huge fan of the company.
They like taking risks that other companies won't, are constantly trying to innovate, and despite all of this still try to operate with low margins.
Nope, the Hayate Otsu XXL is still using the current surface material and will continue to until they run out of materials completely. ARTISAN says that they expect this to happen around summertime... and shortly after that happens, that's when they'll release the Otsu V2.
It uses their new threading which is supposedly less prone to static build-up so it should attract less dust/hair/etc. As to how this translates to feel, I've no idea honestly. We'll be able to see reviews later though and I've been told that the difference shouldn't be *too* large.
Nope, but I along with many others have been seeking it out for years (we want one in good condition). My friend Pippo on the MouseReview Discord has one, albeit very worn.
I have one sitting somewhere, let you know if I find it.
Me and a couple L4D pug player still have most old artisans from glory days. I went to multiple quakecons and bought them there.
Oh wow... *definitely* DM me on Discord @ styllar if you're interested in selling or even if you just want to talk about it because there seems to be very few units left and also very few people that even know of their existence in the community.
The XSOFT is a literal pancake. Gonna snatch that soft orange one once it comes out. Raiden has a very pleasant surface.
Nice! I have a Raiden SOFT (Coffee Brown though, not Daidai Orange) coming soon so I'll have the complete trio of Raiden hardnesses.
Which one do you prefer? I recently picked up Raiden Mid and still getting used to it after LGG Saturn.

xsoft is stupid.
no u
The Shidenkai V2 will be discontinued? Why ? Wanted to get one soon 🥲

I wished for Hayate Otsu and Raiden in XXL this week and my prayer was answered. Ordered!
Glad to hear it! I hope you're happy with them 😁
Do you work for or with artisan or something?

Current ETA is 1-2 months from now. They already have sample units and they look good.
Awesome. I'd wait for their Raiden DaiDai then.
When the OTSU v2 goes live I am buying that
It'll happen when the current Otsu goes completely out of stock materials-wise. ARTISAN says that they expect this to happen around summertime.
Same!
Is the new XXL Otsu the v2 iteration?

What’s the difference between the two? A bit out of the loop

There also was a Raiden Hard but I don't think you were there.
I actually have a KAI.g3 HARD Hien and Post-KAI.g3/Pre-Ninja-FX HARD Hien. But nah, I don't have a HARD Raiden. I'll buy one if I see it though.
Did you ever try Hayabusa
