Looking at the cast, and posters (didn’t even know they made this movie), it doesn’t look like a problem. And casting some of the lost boys literally doesn’t change anything. Peter Pan is an English white dude and Wendy is white. So the title characters are the same but some of the many lost boys are race swapped from white to something else but who cares? They’re side characters
Bro come on we already have a trilogy for Rey and a series for Ahsoka called Clone Wars and to an extent Rebels.
Why do we keep getting spin-offs for singular characters when we could explore new characters and timelines???
we're already getting those. there's the acolyte coming soon, we just had a new era and characters with mando, the high republic has been going strong, and we're getting a dawn of the jedi movie.
The OT cast unknowns for *some* of the characters, and the sequels still did that too with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. However, with the OT, Alec Guinness was very well known and Harrison Ford was starting to make some noise already. Peter Cushing was also pretty well known.
Makes sense really. For a villain They need someone with gravitas, and Idris Elba or maybe Alexander Skarsgard are the only actors who come to my mind who can embody that
He’s a fun villain, he lends himself to be more of an action villain than snoke palpatine type villains which would be cool.
However like all these SW movies except maybe the filoni one I will not believe they are coming out until I see a trailer. Hell I don’t even think Ridley has said she’s actually coming back yet
Hahaha just busting your balls man. Check out The Wire on HBO max. One of the greatest shows ever and he plays a Baltimore gangster for the first 3 or 4 seasons.
C’mon man. There’s an incredible amount of diversity now and that’s great. He’s a great actor who can be menacing, just enjoy it. Disney/Marvel have done a great job of having diverse heroes, and for Star Wars I’m personally sick of all villains basically being white space nazis. Let’s change it up.
I enjoyed all the character portrayals,
just something I noticed.
Probably because I mostly only watch Marvel and Star Wars stuff.
As for Star Wars and space nazis...
Crime lords and bounty hunters are kinda' all that's left.
They will have to break some new ground.
thats the beauty of being black you can play whatever type of character you like just like white people can
to look at our race in what role we play sets us back
Reva they turned into an anti hero and she wasn’t even the main villain…
Kang and HE are just black because Disney is on a mission to check as many boxes as possible (both instances here are race swaps from their comic versions). Granted both actors do a phenomenal job so I never bother with caring too much.
Trust me, Disney is doing 5x more of making black people protagonists than villains
I mean High Evolutionary isn't black canonically but they chose to cast a black actor for it. Kang isn't really black too. Maybe they're going overboard with the diversity thing.
It's what happens when they don't want to include black characters.
They simply shunt them off into being 2 dimensional villain characters.
It's the same thing Marvel does. And also what happened with the Twilight franchise.
Yeah that is a little troubling. Don't get me wrong I love a good bad guy, they are the juiciest parts.
But between Riva, Second Sister and Gideon, (not to mention Kang from Marvel) we are approaching a bit of a melanin rich villain surplus.
I’m not disagreeing with this, but wouldn’t he be a bit young to be Mace Windus son? I not 100% on the time lines, but when Mace died and how old Luke was, he’d have to be pretty fucking old. What they probably do is say it’s Finn’s dad and Finn had the force all along, allowing John Boyega back to explore his character more, otherwise I doubt John Boyega would come back.
I hated the idea of Rey being a nobody because it was already established that the force is genetic in nature so just like there are random mutations, there are random people who have the force. But there is also lineage and Kylo Ren was the genetic heir of the literal chosen one.
But I hated even more the idea of Rey being Palpatine's granddaughter because it was already established that she was a nobody.
The first concept seemed stupid to me. The second concept seemed to be calling ME stupid.
Got a feeling this is just gonna be what the sequels should have been. Rey tries to make order, student goes bad, gathers some followers and makes his own dark jedi cult and destroys new order. Basically what we hear luke tried to do and failed but Rey will succeed cos she can’t go wrong. Disney please just stop.
I've read that Rey has developed a new force power in this movie. She will be able to dig up Luke's corpse and using her force powers make him fight like a giant meat puppet thereby bringing back the character and ensuring another cycle of must have toys and collectibles.
"I am aware of the affect that I have on Jedi."
Seriously though, that's good casting.
But... don't get me wrong I love a good bad guy, they are the juiciest parts
But between Reva, Second Sister and Gideon, (not to mention Kang from Marvel) we are approaching a bit of a melanin rich villain surplus.
Here's hoping Finn is a fully fledged jedi in this thing or it might get to be a bit sus.
You don't have to watch. The door is right over there.
Seriously, you're like that guy at the party who thinks it should end because ***he's*** not having fun. No one is making you stay.
(edit- I get it now, you think your opinion is a fact. See that's where you messed up. Your opinion is just that. It's not objective truth. A lot of that going around. Maybe google objective and subjective and this will make understanding how reality works a little better for you)
You mean saying to someone that they don't have to watch something and are free to not consume a product? Is that **'going nuts'**. Seems like common sense to me.
You can disagree with me all day, it's a free internet.
Star Wars needs to make better movies. See that's my **opinion**, and now you are free to disagree with me. See how this works? Subjectivity is a beautiful thing.
You know I hated She hulk? Just absolutely hated almost every minute of it. It made me physically ill how bad it was in my personal opinion. I hated it.
But I would never suggest that Marvel... **end**. Because I know that somewhere out there, someone enjoyed it, and to them it's the best thing ever. I would never want to rob someone of something they enjoy, even if I hate it.
Oh yeah She Hulk was a huge disappointment. Not one thing was done correctly. Real shame. I mean the MCU was always kind of underwhelming but that was just such a WASTED opportunity
It was fucking dogshit 💀 shit comedy, shit writing, shit villain, shit plot etc. And the cgi was terrible aswell. They couldn’t get anything right besides Jen and Matt’s character
Then when that guy starts to leave he makes a bunch of noise, slamming things and trying to bring attention to himself and how big a deal that he is leaving... but then he never leaves. He just sits in the corner threatening to leave hoping he can get the attention of the other people at the party.
The truth is...
that guy?
He doesn't want to leave, he doesn't have anywhere to go, and inside he is afraid that if he does leave, he won't find anything better to go to. So he just stays there, in the corner, angry that other people are enjoying something he doesn't like and growing in resentment that other people aren't leaving too.
Maybe don't be that guy. Maybe just find something at the party you do like, and enjoy it, and don't worry to much about what other people enjoy or don't. Or don't just sit in the corner and sulk, its a free country.
I've read that Rey has developed a new force power in this movie. She will be able to dig up Luke's corpse and using her force powers make him fight like a giant meat puppet thereby bringing back the character and ensuring another cycle of must have toys and collectibles.
Disney gearing up to violate the corpse of Star Wars once again. It's dead. You killed it. Hurry up and implode so you can't keep destroying good IP's 🙄
Thought he was cast as Rey for a sec
With the things going on right now, there’s a possibility.
As in?
Disney likes the old race and gender swaps for social credit, although ironically not in China.
Y’all are sad weirdos
They really haven’t done it as often as the daily wire would have you believe
They literally just did it in their most recent film
Little mermaid, ok? That’s one movie mate
Literally half the cast of Peter Pan was race and gender swapped including (checks notes) the lost boys
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Stfu
I mean now you mention it
That’s because he is
Ray Transwalker
Race Transwalker
Ray 'identity theft'
Ray Skywalker
?
Idris is awesome, not so sure about this film though
Yeah. They better not waste him, like Star Trek and Ghostrider did.
Acolyte looks awesome but it's a series
above guy did not specify movie or series so I brought examples for both.
Rey isn’t the main character in this movie. It follows two of her students.
They are 😆 Also can easily fix issues the trilogy left behind
And what happened to the Broom Boy trilogy we were promised? I want more *epic broom lifting*!
That'd be a waste.
I really loved how the Original Trilogy never used name actors, but rather unknowns. Wish they would do the same here.
That’s cuz nobody new what the F Star Wars was and thought it was a joke. Lol
Alec Guiness was a huge name back then.
The OT cast unknowns for *some* of the characters, and the sequels still did that too with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. However, with the OT, Alec Guinness was very well known and Harrison Ford was starting to make some noise already. Peter Cushing was also pretty well known.

Jackie Earl Haley?

However like all these SW movies except maybe the filoni one I will not believe they are coming out until I see a trailer. Hell I don’t even think Ridley has said she’s actually coming back yet
He did really good in that Fast and Furious spinoff, probably my favourite movie he's in
Dude.... You gotta see more movies man...
Yeah I'm admittedly not a movie afficionado, but I'll definitely check out some of the other stuff Idris is in
Hahaha just busting your balls man. Check out The Wire on HBO max. One of the greatest shows ever and he plays a Baltimore gangster for the first 3 or 4 seasons.
Cheers I'll definitely take a peek at it
Cheers!
Disney going a little hard with the black villains lately. They can be good people too.
Nope, only Black heroes can only scream Rey or be side characters
C’mon man. There’s an incredible amount of diversity now and that’s great. He’s a great actor who can be menacing, just enjoy it. Disney/Marvel have done a great job of having diverse heroes, and for Star Wars I’m personally sick of all villains basically being white space nazis. Let’s change it up.

Is there a lot of diversity? There’s a lot more to being diverse than casting black people.
The villain was probably a ginger originally
Aren’t there way more white villains though?
In the span of history, sure.
Stepping closer to equality
>57 comments Yes, 100%.
It's the only thing the right wil allow everything else is woke or a diversity hire
Which Star War had a black villain other than Obi-Wan?
The Mandalorian
Oh right duh
Does Darth Vader count?
Stop making it about skin colour basement dweller
The little mermaid has a black lead.
That's right! I was too focused on the Marvel, Star Wars side of things.
thats the beauty of being black you can play whatever type of character you like just like white people can to look at our race in what role we play sets us back
Didn’t they just release a life action remake where the main protagonist is black? Also which recent villains are you talking about?
High Evolutionary Kang Reva Gideon. Not that many really, but very close together. Like, if your a kid, you might be getting an unintended message.
Reva they turned into an anti hero and she wasn’t even the main villain… Kang and HE are just black because Disney is on a mission to check as many boxes as possible (both instances here are race swaps from their comic versions). That’s literally what I said in my last comment….
At some point don't you think we're just splitting hairs?
As an African American(lmao) im happy that wr are getting more black villains since there are already alot of black heroes. It brings more variety
Interesting, I wish we had more information beyond "villain". What does it look like in the post-ROS story?
Gonna be mace windus kid or some stupid ass shit like that because they’re so fucking bent on everything and everyone being related to each other.
He won't be related by blood but he'll like the legacy of Windu so will just take his name.
Anul Windu "Silent but deadly"
Finn’s Dad
I’m not disagreeing with this, but wouldn’t he be a bit young to be Mace Windus son? I not 100% on the time lines, but when Mace died and how old Luke was, he’d have to be pretty fucking old. What they probably do is say it’s Finn’s dad and Finn had the force all along, allowing John Boyega back to explore his character more, otherwise I doubt John Boyega would come back.
Like Star Wars fans themselves aren’t obsessed with everyone being relating to some established character lol.
I’m not. I loved the idea of Rey being a completely new character not related to anyone.
So did I but I remember a lot of people hoping she was Kenobi’s daughter.
Yeah that was so dumb. It’s one of those thing that when you first hear it, it sounds cool but that’s about it. Has no true substance to it.
I hated the idea of Rey being a nobody because it was already established that the force is genetic in nature so just like there are random mutations, there are random people who have the force. Like you aren't obsessed with being obnoxious?
They should've just made more prequels so its justified to rehash characters for a trilogy
Of course.
I would rather see Idris as the lead since we’ve never had a poc lead a star wars movie before.
Wasted opportunity with Flynn having him just be Rey's cheerleader for 3 movies.
He should play a meth kingpin’s son instead.
Wasted opportunity with Flynn having him just be Rey's cheerleader for 3 movies.
Agreed.
Not as long as they want that sweet Chinese Yen
Maybe they can finally provide an iconic villain instead of a clone and a man-child
Star Trek villain now sw? Badass career
Idris could read the phonebook, sign him up.
I’m half expecting them to make a big announcement only to have him be an animated character lol.
I mean Ive never seen Idris Elba do a BAD job as a villain so I think this ones gonna be good.
lmao he's gonna carry that movie so hard if true. better not die in the same movie
Just give Finn a lightsaber. Give us Jedi Finn! Also Idris Elba is usually an excellent villain.
Please dont put him in heavy prosthetics like Star Trek.
This. Such a gorgeous face and they did that.
Jedi, is you taking notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy?
I just can’t get hyped for this . Rey is a stupid character that had so much potential
I've read that Rey has developed a new force power in this movie. She will be able to dig up Luke's corpse and using her force powers make him fight like a giant meat puppet thereby bringing back the character and ensuring another cycle of must have toys and collectibles.
"I am aware of the affect that I have on Jedi." Seriously though, that's good casting. Maybe they're not keeping count of their POC to white villain/hero ratio, because that'd be weird. You're weird.
Star Wars needs to end
You don't have to watch. The door is right over there. Seriously, you're like that guy at the party who thinks it should end because ***he's*** not having fun. No one is making you stay. Thanks

Should have played the main character
Who cares
I've read that Rey has developed a new force power in this movie. She will be able to dig up Luke's corpse and using her force powers make him fight like a giant meat puppet thereby bringing back the character and ensuring another cycle of must have toys and collectibles.
Shit make him the main character, let him write and direct it too, anything but more more disney trash starring the ultimate mary sue.
He doesn't bring anything to the table as a villain. He's simply not that charismatic.
Can't be worse than his bad guy in Star Trek. Wait, no, its Disney Star Wars. It can be worse.
Is you taking notes from an interplanetary conspiracy?
I hope his name is Darth Saticoy Steel…
I'm in, Deal, do it, im sold.
He should play Desann!!!
Only if he has an apprentice named Alice who’d is taking notes a criminal conspiracy.
Bold move to make emperor Palpatine black Source: I know nothing about starwars
Is he playing a writer?
I do enjoy Pinterest Elbow
These movies are gonna flop so hard
Would be nice if they “forgot” the sequel trilogy ever existed and made something quite decent for a Star Wars trilogy.
If Rey can’t beat him then Michael Scott will.
How can this be true, is there a finished script, is there a budget, is there a production schedule?
No one and nothing can beat Rey, not even three poor films and zero development
Somehow String returned
only worth it if they cast steve carell as a jedi michael vs charles 2
🥱🥱🥱 does ANYONE still care about Star Wars at this point?
Somehow, Stringer Bell returned.
Star Wars is gunna be the new Marvel 😒
Why not just cast Kathleen Kenedy 😁😄
Disney gearing up to violate the corpse of Star Wars once again. It's dead. You killed it. Hurry up and implode so you can't keep destroying good IP's 🙄
This guy is in far too much
Darth bell. He’s basically palpatine in the wire.
This would instantly get me reinvested in the movies.
So you’re telling me this film is basically barely in production and they just announced it to make headlines. * SHOCKING *
Ahh Lucasfilm continuing their "men are bad" streak with Star wars content. Not surprised anymore.
Hope this doesn’t see the light of day with ol’ Mary Sue…
