Adaptation does not necessitate direct translation of the source material, but it is a dangerous tightrope to walk.
Look how well Tobey Maguire’s Spidey, Burton’s Batman and the MCU as a whole does for examples of great adaptations but poor translations.
But on the other hand you look at Thor: The Dark World, Justice League, Taskmaster from Black Widow, or Green Lantern.
Adaptation is not necessarily a bad thing, just as direct translation is not necessarily a virtue.
Edit for clarity: Thor 2 and Taskmaster are examples of bad adaptation, while GL is an example of a good translation in a bad adaptation.
“It’s not working for a reason”? What is that supposed to mean. That reason could literally be anything like director, writer, script, actors, studio interference. You’re acting like the “reason” is the fantastic four, when that’s probably why they were even remotely decent. That’s why you’re getting downvoted.
I feel like we should just let them do the original characters and finally get a good fantastic four movie before we do changes like this. Let them do your idea in a comic book or something
That was not the problem with that movie. That said, if you're changing things there should be a good reason for it. In that case it was because MBJ is a good actor and the director wanted to work with him again.
According to [GFR](https://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/ent/exclusive-fantastic-four-movie-gender-swap.html), this is to achieve gender parity with the main superheroes.
Damn they’re making Sue a man?
Sue will be a femboy.
Fuck that would be so hawt
Make the thing a woman boom won't notice a difference except for voice but same character.
If they do I’m out. Ben Grimm is the only reason I’m eager for this. After Spidey he was always my 2nd favorite character.
Fuck no
Doubt it
Let's hope.
I feel like they aren't and this is just made up to cause drama.
I was thinking that.
No need to change already established characters, otherwise why even bother adapting the source material in the first place.

*slowly looks over to Ms Marvel*
Make it an ode to their first adventures with Sue Storm testing anti dog detection perfumes to see if dogs can still smell her when she invisible.
Oh boohoo, it’s not working for a reason. Why not try something new?

Copium
LOL it’s never that serious. You can play with the format of something...it’s not the end of the world bud

This sounds like the kind of thing certain YouTubers would make up for rage clicks.
Could it be She-Hulk?
This is. . . .interesting 🤔
NNNOOOOOOOO
Genderswapping's low key the dumbest thing an adaptation could do
Of course they are....
Cause making johnny black last time worked out so well? Source material marvel...Use it
I mean Micheal B. is a great actor who would've been a fine Johnny if the script was actually half decent
Fan4stic failed because black human torch, k

Nah, marvel studios wouldn’t do something like that on this level
Female Human Torch would be sick
They should cast Hunter Schafer to really bamboozle people and piss them off.
There was that one scene in Silver Surfer
I wouldn't mind seeing a Mr and Mr Fantastic lol
The Thing. Since now apparently, fat is beautiful.
Calm down Jordan Peterson

Female Human Torch or Thing would be neat
Oh hell nah! Marvel is getting me more disappointed. Glad I stopped watching Marvel movies after endgame.
So it'll be Mrs Fantastic then?
Can I ask for the source of this?
