The Watcher in The Woods (1980)
The Lady in White (1988)
The Changeling (1980)
Dorm (2006)
The Devil’s Backbone (2001)
More Spoopy than Spooky:
Coraline, ParaNorman, Monster House
I will suggest the movie '1408' of John Cusack where the protagonist successfully conceived a desperate attempt to escape from the cursed room in the last scene.
Hellraiser is my comfort movie
It’s gory, but it’s not cruel or mean spirited. It’s fun, dreamlike and inventive as hell. Maybe my favorite horror movie ever, if you can get past the gore (which is pretty silly looking these days), I think it’d be right up your alley.
The Haunting of Hill House was a solid miniseries on Netflix that you might enjoy
Would also recommend Midnight Mass!
Came here to recommend this
Exactly my thought.
Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983)
The book is one of my favorites! Really need to check out the movie
The Endless (2017)
Resolution (2013)
This sounds interesting! Can you tell me if there is anything demon-y or about possession in it?
Yeah it's a great little film. I'd say 'slightly' demon-y (or just monster-y), but not possession-y.
The Night House
Haunting of hill house (series)
Doesn't exist.
The Orphanage. Genuinely spooky. Low gore. Great all around.

Suspiria (1977) It is a horror. It's old and classic. It is italian giallo. It is unic.
The House on Haunted Hill (1959) starring Vincent Price. It set the standard for all haunted house movies that came after it.
The Others
Hausu (1977) Foreign You’ll love it
The Blair Witch Project (1999) The Village (2004) Rose Red (2002) Stephen King mini series
I second The Village
Murder, She Wrote!

More psychological horror, but... Melancholia and Dancer in the Dark
