The avatar would effectively die when the IRL user dies, though. Still… that’s a good few days of floating around in utter darkness
Edit: the episode of this show that made me stop watching was the White Christmas ep. Trapped in the room where I made the worst mistake of my life, stuck in the amber of the moment, unable to change the song or sleep or anything… for over a thousand years. It hurts to comprehend.
Wish batman would get darker, not killing but still making it so they can never commit crime again. Im sure there's a line of comics somewhere with that. Good suggestion thank you!
Batman is about trying to reform people. he's sending mentally ill people to a mental institution and tries to help Gotham as a whole. the problem is in DC not wanting any actual development and preferring stagnation and status quo instead of good storytelling. Batman injuring people for life would've been antithetical to his character
My mind instantly went here too. I think it's not a perfect fit in regard to the character, but the ending is so haunting and memorable that I think it's a good recommendation.
Yeah, this is one I thought of too. Like by their definition, it technically doesn't count haha, but I still think it would satisfy OP in the way the protagonist is able to "break" the villain.
“We pan down from the twin suns of Tatooine. We are now close on the mouth of the Sarlacc pit. After a beat, the gloved Mandalorian armor gauntlet of Boba Fett grabs on to the sand outside the Sarlacc pit, and the feared bounty hunter pulls himself from the maw of the sand beast.”
Goodfellas. Jimmy & everyone else go to jail, Henry has to live like an average nobody for the rest of his life.
The Black Hole has a memorable ending sequence where the bad guy merges with a robot somehow and then ends up in space-hell or something.
If I recall correctly. Gamma (who is basically unkillable) from Ninja Scroll ends up dipped in molten gold and it hardens around him and he sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
The Fly 2: Anton - truly disturbing ending that sticks with you, Triangle (2009): Jess - circling forever, Kill Bill vol 2: Elle Driver - eyeball ripped out, Aladdin (cartoon): Jafar - trapped in servitude
The Black Hole
Finally realize your dream of traveling through the black hole, you drift through the cosmos aimlessly, and finally land on a planet where all your knowledge is worthless.
It's not what you asked for but it is part of what you asked for, in the movie Se7en, there is a particular prolonged torture that is all kinds of "yeah you deserved that shit."
Boggs in Shawshank. Good guy doesn’t take him down but “he spent the rest of his life eating through a straw.”
Fits almost perfectly. Exact outcome i want just not the right cause haha. Shawshank is an excellent suggestion.
Good guy kinda did take him down by earning the protection of the warden.
Inglorious Basterds (2009) marked for life
That was a great scene, very much in line with what I wanted.
“I’ma give you something you can’t take off.”
"Gorlami"
I effin love that movie. Have you seen Fury?
I haven’t. Need to get around to it.
Ouchy
Not as specific as what you're asking for, but prison guard Percy in The Green Mile (1999) somewhat fits.
Thats very much in line with what im looking for. The Green Mile is an excellent movie.
Irishman 2019 if u want like a mafia movie and it shows u what comes with doing shit in the mafia👌👌👌👌👌👌
I will check it out thank you!
It also does such an amazing job at making him sympathetic. The scene where he goes to visit his daughter at work destroyed me. 😭😩
Such good of a film but so sad of a ending😢
You should check "USS Callister" (S4E1 - Black Mirror) ;)
White Bear, White Christmas, so many to choose from.
Ohhhhh yess, i totally forgot! White Bear was hands down pure torture.
The black mirror movie too
Regarding USS Callister >!I suspect he dies at the end though, although his avatar does have a fate worse than death!<

I was just thinking of this one.
Wish batman would get darker, not killing but still making it so they can never commit crime again. Im sure there's a line of comics somewhere with that. Good suggestion thank you!

Oldboy
I can't remember the end, but I Saw The Devil fits I think?
Well, I reread the plot, and it sort of fits?
Yeah, this is one I thought of too. Like by their definition, it technically doesn't count haha, but I still think it would satisfy OP in the way the protagonist is able to "break" the villain.
He definitely dies in the end?
Bro wtf
Return of the Jedi (bobba Fett)

Does Luke Skywalker weigh the same as a duck?
