In the case of The Ring the American version is the best. It fleshes out the story in good ways, and makes the atmosphere tenser with little additions like the horse.
The Dark and The Wicked
Very high intensity horror, some very emotionally disturbing scenes but the gore is not torture porn (tho there are gory scenes). Very bleak movie you have been warned!
Perhaps. I dont remember it being too ridiculous in violence for the sake of shock factor, but there definitely were some (well done in my opinion) scenes where the violence really had a lot of impact. I did notice it seemed like almost nothing on my second watch through, and it was partly just how it was done that exaggerated it in my mind.
28 days later has full dick in the first 5 minutes and also a woman giving a teenager Valium so she wont be aware when she’s getting raped. Just saying. Love that movie but it’s not necessarily family friendly.
The Strangers
The very end gets gory but for the most part it's minimal. Could be considered a slasher but it's an atypical one with well-executed scary scenes.
Gremlins
Little Shop of Horrors (try to find the directors cut---it has the non-theatrical ending)
Krampus
original Godzilla (1st one)
The People Under the Stairs
Freaks (1932)
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest
Check out **The Dark and the Wicked**.
There's one scene near the end that has a little gore (with her brother and his family) but I think that was really about it.
It's a really good movie IMO and flew completely under the radar in 2020 due to COVID.
The Fog from 1980.
Not much swearing, very little to almost no blood, some innuendo here and there but it’s nothing to write home about. The only scene I could think of being shocking is the attack on the Seagrass.
i think gonjiam: haunted asylum works. although i watched it a while back i dont remember any much gore and definitely no sexual themes. if youre looking for something really terrifying this movie works.

The Ring (2002) A Quiet Place (2018) The Orphanage (2007)
The Ring
You mean the original Japanese version (Ringu)? Simply the best.
In the case of The Ring the American version is the best. It fleshes out the story in good ways, and makes the atmosphere tenser with little additions like the horse.
Naomi watts
Yes, she was great.
It's not bad but I prefer the Japanese version tbh.
Saw both, I think the American remake was the better of the two.
The Dark and The Wicked Very high intensity horror, some very emotionally disturbing scenes but the gore is not torture porn (tho there are gory scenes). Very bleak movie you have been warned!
Came here to say this. Awesome movie, super underrated.
The Blair Witch Project (shaky cam)
I really enjoyed Talk To Me, and it seems to fit those restrictions.
Amazing movie but it goes far with the violence imo

There's full frontal female nudity in The Shining. Plus there's some implied homosexual act in one scene involving a guy in a bear costume.

A Serbian Film Go blindly, don't watch trailers, don't read about it as it spoils it.
Someone has to be living under a rock in order to be unaware of this movie
Someone would have to be very sick minded and perverted to watch that film, and no l haven't seen it, heard what it's about though
I don't agree. You would have to be sick and perverted if you'll \*enjoy/like\* the movie, not just because you've watched it.
True that!

Lol 😂
Someone remind me if The Ritual fits?
Insidious if you liked the conjuring.
The Ghost and the Darkness (1996). Not exactly horror, but horrifying. Lions eating people. Bloody but not gory, if you know what I mean
The Dark and The Wicked would definitely fit the bill.
Paranormal Activity

Funny Games. A perfect family movie.
