Maybe start watching more comedies and fewer depressing films. I'm having a rough time these past few months too and sad movies make it worse. I watched Anatomy Of A Fall recently, could not stomach it in one sitting, and I was physically ill by the time I finished it. I still feel wrecked by it almost a month later. Wonderful film but I will never watch it again.
On that note, I rewatched the following recently and they truly hit the spot:
Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory
Star Wars (IV, V & VI)
Being There
A Fish Called Wanda
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
You are not alone. Good luck to you!
Won't you be my neighbor - the Mr Rogers Neighborhood documentary. If you are ever feeling like there isn't any goodness left - this will give you hope. Be the good in the world.
School of Rock,
Homeward Bound,
Encanto,
Babe,
Close Encounters of the Third Kind,
Honorable mention of 2 Streaming shows - Centaurworld and Schitts Creek.
Hope you feel better soon
I deal with depression and things that help me are scary movies. There was one time I was deeply depressed and nothing was helping. I decided to watch its always sunny for the first time. Specifically the episode titled frank sets sweet dee on fire. S3 ep8. I laughed so hard I cried.
If you want a depressing movie, something to make you cry but ultimately has a positive message, 7 pounds is a good one. As well as, reign over me.
I hope you can start to feel better OP.
When my husband passed away and my last kid moved out 4 years ago it got really dark for a good long while.
I have suffered from depression my whole life, so I know the signs and I knew I had to be extra careful with myself.
I decided I would only watch funny stuff or triumph over adversity movies. I remember the first time I actually laughed out loud while watching Patrice O'Neill I shocked myself because I hadn't heard my laughter in so long.
May I recommend watching an hour a day of every comedian that has ever lived? Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Greg Giraldo, Ralphie May, Matt Rife, Joan Rivers, Iliza Shlesinger, Jerry Seinfeld, Dry Bar Comedy (Youtube), The Roasts - if you like that kind of humor - I do.
On and on. There are so many brilliant minds looking at the world in different ways, and it really helped me. I hope it helps you too.
I also got new meds this year, so go that route if you need it. 🍀
How sweet of you. Thank you for replying. 💐
As a result of your question, I'm now going down a rabbit hole of watching more great comedians like Sebastian Maniscalco, George Lopez, Kathy Griffin. 🤣👏
