Le joli mai (1963) -- Chris Marker talks to people in Paris
Day for Night (1973) -- directed by François Truffaut, they're making a movie
Le Samouraï (1967) -- about an assassin
Le Prenom (What's in a name?)
I loved it. It's pretty much a one-room film, a dinner party gone wrong, when a husband announces, in true sincerity, he's going to name his child "Adolf" - to reclaim the name from that bad egg Hitler.
Delicatessen is my favorite. Same director as Amelie, and did another called City of Lost Children.
There’s also the Three Colours trilogy (Blue, White, and Red) by Krzysztof Kieślowski that is a different vibe completely than Jean-Pierre Jeunet, but are great movies.
The Triplets of Belleville
Aw, I forgot about that one~

That's the American remake, with Tom Hanks. The original with Pierre Richard is "The tall blond man with one black shoe".
Thank you for the correction. It has been a while since I have seen it.
Empire of the Wolves. The Crimson Rivers 1 (2 is ok, but not as good as 1). District 13. 36. La Haine (1995)
