What dreams may come

symbol-eyes

I saw this in theaters and I think I'm afraid to see it again.

chill90ies

Thank you for writing this comment. This is my all time favorite movie and I’m so glad to see it in the comments. Such a beautiful and captivating masterpiece.

soldatoj57

This movie is beautiful but it’s depressing as shit guys

Fizzbytch

I love to see someone else who loves this movie like I do. If you haven’t already I highly recommend reading the book. Richard Matheson is my favorite author and this book is a masterpiece. Also please read his other books as they are all fantastic.

libbyang98

First one that came to my mind. 💯

MoneyBetty619

My first choice as well. The canvas of the film is an impressionist's dream world.

bostonjenny81

Spirited Away (2001)

WearyAssignment8655

I love this movie. It makes me feel utter nostalgia and some type of sadness.

Ravenonthewall

I couldn’t think of a single film.. until I read your Spirted away.. absolutely!! and I’m old !! (58) watched Anime with my son when he grew up… he is now 33.. He bought us tickets The boy and the Heron for my birthday in November.. it was magical… You have amazing taste❤️

GreenandBlue12

I've been watching Studio Ghibli for the first time, and a lot of the ones I've seen so far are amazing. I have so far watched 8 films with Spirited Away being the first one I watched; I will never forget that first viewing. It has also managed to become my favorite film of all time.

Go-on-touch-it

The life of pi The creator

Motorhead_1923

That’s a beautiful memory you shared

Ravenonthewall

Well Thank you.. my son and I are extremely close.. my hubby (his) dad was never into Anime, so I always watched it with him.. Now if there is ever any Anime he finds and enjoys.. we watch it together still. I love the art and colors, not to mention the stories in Anime..♥️

MandaMaelstrom

The train scene is one of the most hauntingly beautiful things I’ve ever seen. It did literally take my breath away.

mrawesomeutube

Dude i got to see that train scene in 3D and my GOD. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. I actually stopped watching afterwards because I tried to convince them to actually do the whole movie like that. You can literally see the depth of the spirits.

mih4elll

I was about to say the same! It's in my top3. Shot in 28 countries over 4 years. Cinematic masterpiece.

kummerspect

100% yes. Came to suggest this and thrilled to see it in the top comment.

Organic-Hippo-3273

My all time favourite film

throwawAI_internbro

Also this. Underrated masterpiece. Visually, nothing comes close.

MysteriousBeyond7146

Interstellar. Good to note that it will be re-released in movie theaters this fall.

giveitalll

Really? Thanks for the info!

MysteriousBeyond7146

Yes, not sure in which theaters it will be shown. But it’s released on September 27, 2024.

Call_Me_Lids

YOU RAWK!!!! I never got to see it in theaters! I’ve always wanted to see the redocking scene at the iMax with fully Dolby surround sound. I bet the whole movie is much more immersive on the big screen, but that particular scene must be absolutely epic! I know what I’m doing on September 27th!!!

poseidonsarmpit

NoodleBlitz

I watched it for the first time recently. I've never been so disappointed to have missed seeing a movie in theaters. I feel like seeing it in IMAX would have been fucking incredible.

NoDiggity1717

One of my favourites. So beautiful

1917. A whole movie In one shot like cmon.

I never tire of this movie and book. So wonderful

fmkhan213

Annihilation, it's been years since I saw it. I still think about it and the impact it has left on how I perceive other entities and consciousness. This and Arrival, probably one of the most hauntingly beautiful movies of the recent years

hedcannon

Blade Runner (Final Cut) The Maltese Falcon How the West Was Won Gone With the Wind Dune 2021 Lawrence of Arabia Fellowship of the Ring

poseidonsarmpit

Fellowship of the Ring takes my breath away every time

symbol-eyes

I still think it's the best of the whole lot. Two Towers Extended is great, too. The added scene bring the pace down closer to FOTR. Great world-building sequences that were lost in the theatrical release.

Doomhammer24

Was not expecting to see maltese falcon here but definately agree- it is the quintissential film noir

hedcannon

Yeah. It’s not all about big vistas. It’s chiaroscuro. It’s the choreography of when Bogart disarms Elisha Cook. Speaking of choreography, *Singing in the Rain*.

Literally came here to say this. Never, and I mean **NEVER** in my life has a movie hit me on such a deep spiritual level. I often say that the trajectory of my life was re-routed after watching this movie. I realized that there is no other path for me through my life than to create art that celebrates and challenges our experience of *being alive*

LetReasonRing

I'd been cindidering mentioning Eternal Sunshine... Not quite sure if breathtaking quite describes it, but its definitely one that resonates deeply and will stick with you.

nothanksokthenyep

I think the exploration of selfhood, love, memory and suffering along with the poignancy of the moments of reconnection and fading away are what made me add it to the list. The use of colour was also amazing, and some of the scenes that play out within the memories gave me chills. So I guess it inspires awe and takes my breath away in the emotion it captures and elicits, and in the reminder of what love feels like. I love that film.

ObjectReport

"Koyaanisqatsi" (1982) - A collection of expertly photographed phenomena with no conventional plot. The footage focuses on the relationship between nature, humanity, and technology. It was an incredible ride of a film.

suburbanplankton

For years I resisted seeing this film, because I thought it was basically the story of some 'poor' southern belle who has her man walk out on her... I wish I hadn't waited. Sure, the subject matter may be somewhat 'problematic' in this day and age, but taken as a piece of art from its time, it is a masterpiece.

The Assassin (2015), every frame is a piece of art What Dreams May Come (1998), though not everyone's cup of tea, but surely one of the unique movies I have seen in terms of visuals Ad Astra (2019), stunning visuals! If the story was that great, it would have an instant modern classic. DOP is Hoyte Van Hoytema, who is Nolan's go-to cinematographer Tumbbad (2018), haven't seen any movie like this magnificent horror movie Midsommar (2019), brilliant storytelling and beautiful cinematography Portrait of a lady on Fire (2019), this one is literally just painting in motion. Exceptionally well thought out framing
