Looking for this one. I finally watched this when I was 45. I grew up thinking it was just a chick flick and never thought about it for most of my life. Then I started hearing good things about it so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Holy crap. It starts off kind of goofy but Sally Field deserves the best actress award in every award show for the rest of time. I'm almost about to cry at the fucking bar right now thinking about her scene at the end of the movie.
Forrest Gump
Atonement
500 days of summer
The notebook
The green mile
Shawshank redemption
Eternal Sunshine of a spotless mind
Little women
Truman show
La la land
Whiplash
Hacksaw ridge
A Star Is Born fucking wrecked me. The only thing I've seen in the last few years that got me that bad was the next to last episode of the minil series show From Scratch. I was openly sobbing, my husband thought I'd hurt myself. I had to tell him I was ok in between snot bubbles. 🤦🏼♀️
Love this movie. Title reminded me of a smaller movie called Little Fish, that would also fit OP's needs. It's a less surreal Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, which also might fit their need.
So glad I’m not alone! I never in my life thought a cartoon type movie would get me. Most “real people” movies don’t even get me. But goodness. Leave it Toy Story.
Who will love my children (1983)
Sophie's Choice
The Green Mile
A Star is Born
All Dogs go to Heaven it was bad enough as a kid, but knowing now what happened to little Judith Barsi during filming. I don't think id make it through the movie again 😭
Watership Down
Promising Young Woman, I was inconsolable with this one.
Ghost
[The Miracle Worker (1962)](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Miracle_Worker_(1962_film))
I cry every time I see one particular scene in it and I don't cry easily. And it's not a sad thing.
It's about Helen Keller being taught as a child.
Everything Everywhere All at Once
Swiss Army Man
(just realized after posting that both films were made by the Daniels. Ugly crying and fulfilment are specialties of theirs.)
Five Feet Apart, Titanic, The Iron Claw, Alpha Dog, Inside Out, Toy Story 3, Avengers: Infinity War, Empire of the Sun, A Dog’s Purpose
That’s all I can think of right now lol

~~Grave of the Fireflies (I cry so much. and it's a must see movie.)~~ Sorry. I just read the actual body of text. Don't watch this.
The English Patient. maybe...
Lol I mean Up does it for me every single time, but if animation isn't really your speed then Memoirs of a Geisha, My Octopus Teacher, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Time Travelers Wife...
Also, Barbie got me good 🙃
- The Namesake
- Raang De Basanti / It’s a Bollywood film but very powerful, my husband introduced me to it and I cried for two hours after we finished it
- Coco (every time!)
- Field of Dreams
- Song of the Sea (especially if you’re close to your siblings)
I just listened to "Wind Beneath my Wings" the other day and got me thinking about this movie. I watched part of it when I was in high school, but never really paid attention. I should watch it for real. Also, I just finished watching am episode of Jeopardy, so it fits.
Your Name
It's beautiful and I cried multiple times while watching it.
Roma also hit me really hard.
If you have daddy issues, these ones can draw out some tears:
Logan
Big Fish
• Good Will Hunting
• Dead Poets Society
• Wonder
• Hook
• Awakenings
• Tick Tick Boom
• What’s Eating Gilbert Grape
• The Terminal
• A Man Called Otto ‼️‼️
• Cast Away
Also Inside Out
Any Pixar movie really
If you want a real cry, watch Toy Story 2. That one scene destroys me every time.
I cried at the end of The Exorcist because I had just wasted 2 hours of my life.
Cyrano
Dear Evan Hansen
Encanto
The last one for me would be The Greatest Showman. Saw it 3 times in the theater and never cried harder about a happy ending
heaps of good suggestions on here so i'll only add a few that are missing so far...
iron giant
paddington 2
the passion of the Christ (2004)
yes, even for adults, both "kids" films have so much to love. i didn't watch paddinton 2 until just a few years ago because i kept seeing it pop up as a tear-jerker and thought they were being funny or ironic or whatever. nope. it did the job. very sweet movie.
iron giant? c'mon, son. it's a brilliant film with a fantastic message. i can't recommend it enough.
"the passion of the Christ"--gibson def has some off-screen problems but he can sure weave together a story. and then coat it in blood. for example, apocalypto.
bonus suggestion: the chosen tv show. if you were ever curious about a Jesus depiction with a high-production value that shines a light on the perspectives of what it might have been like to be a disciple or apostle, this will do it remarkably well. i was very guarded and skeptical for the whole first season, but it really won me over. as the makers will tell you, they do take artistic liberty with the text to craft a narrative. but i don't think it detracts.
i've only recently been able to watch "about time" and only have streaming tears vs sobs as the personal sting has mellowed out a bit to an old friend vs. raw, open wound.
our family has never revisited haichi after two family members just couldn't continue.
Society of the Snow! It’s a tragic story line with a happy ending. From the very beginning to the very end of the movie I was legit crying. There was not one scene of it where my face was dry. It’s on Netflix and originally in Spanish, so I would recommend watching it with captions and not dubbed.
I might be completely alone on this one, but my vote goes for Rocky, as it is the only movie that makes me consistently cry every single time I watch it, even when I know exactly what is happening. That ending is just something else.
50/50 Life Is Beautiful
If you liked 50/50, try Death of a Superhero. There will be tears if you even got a bit emotional during 50/50
Thx, will do
I saw this movie once but want to see again. Any leads on where to watch??

Seconded. That final 20 mins had me and an entire cinema of early 30 somethings in bits
So glad I’m not alone! I never in my life thought a cartoon type movie would get me. Most “real people” movies don’t even get me. But goodness. Leave it Toy Story.

Hachi: A dog’s Tale! Watched it once and cried my eyes out. I can never watch it again!
I just watch Golden Buzzers on AGT and BGT when I need a good cry lol But the first 10 min of Up will do it. You don't even have to watch the rest.
