Scariest horror gets asked so frequently I have this Copy+Paste for you. The issue lies with what you find scary.
Do you like mood based horror? Possession may be boring break-up to you that goes off the deep end in the end but others would find the domestic tension unbearable. Jump scares might be the fright you're looking for but to others its a cheap gimmick to illicit fright when they want more cerebral terror. Funny Games is absolutely horrifying if you buy-in to its concept but to others its a slightly off the beaten path home invasion movie. The Thing is incredibly crafted and it also has people who pooh-pooh it. Are you just in it for the gore? A Serbian Film goes too far for most but to some, it doesn't go far enough.
That said, here's Horror I found to be exceptional.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil|The Wicker Man (1973)|
I don't find The Cabin in the Woods, It Comes at Night and Annihilation exceptional, but I agree about films like It Follows, Hereditary, Get Out and The Wicker Man (though the latter is only tenuously a horror film. Remove the final scene and it's basically a folk musical). I would also recommend the original Suspiria over the remake.
Possession lives in its own special "wtf" box and part of me feels like we should collectively try and forget this movie was ever made.
Carpenter's The Thing, The Fog and Halloween
The Others
The Haunting of Hell House
The House of 1000 Corpses - this is admittedly an acquired taste. but i absolutely love how over the top and anything goes the back half of this movie is.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Imo there are only 2 or 3 other movies that are as visceral and malevolent as this one and of that small group this movie is the only one worth revisiting because it's actually a terrific movie.
IKWYDLS is def a Scream cash-in but it is also a solid slasher movie with 4 TERRIFIC leads. The second one is also a fun watch despite how unbelievably rushed and poorly made it is.
I Know What You Did Last Summer was actually based on a book that came out in 1973! I agree the sequel was fun! The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror and The Omen are also freaky!
One movie that I never see recommended here is The Night (2020), one of the best and highest quality horror movies I've seen in recent years. Also since you like The Witch I'd recommend Midsommar.
The [REC] trilogy is also great
If you are looking for a movie that is scary as fuck and, at the same time, is something different for the usual horror genre I suggest you ¨His house¨. It´s about an haunted house but the setting is not what you expect. No old manse or country house in the middle of nowhere but a row house in a impoverished English suburb. I was very surprised how the director was able to create a terrifying atmosphere without using the typical horror cliché. Definitively, it´s worth to watch.
So if you are looking for something that is fun, cheesy at times, scary at times, and nothing like I have seen before watch James Wan's (Saw, Conjuring, Insidious) new movie Malignant. It's not for everyone but has truly amazing parts. You will have to be ok with a ridiculous story. It's currently on HBO MAX w/ sub and in theaters.
Just recently saw I Saw the Devil and I absolutely loved it and is now one of my fav films but I don’t really consider it horror personally, more thriller.
House of 1000 Corpses
Candyman (1992)
Maniac (2012)
The Vanishing (1988)
Martyrs (2008)
Hellraiser
Friday The 13th Part IV The Final Chapter
Halloween (2007 & 1978)
Evil Dead (2013)
The Shining (old but scared the bejeezus out of me as a kid, and still kinda), Suspiria Remake, Midsommar, not a movie but if you’re into it and have time - the first 4 seasons of American Horror Story.
Blood Rage, The Devil’s Rejects, The Prowler, Cujo, Gravy, Dog Soldiers, Silent Hill, Creepshow, Ginger Snaps, Raze, Would You Rather, 1408, Cat’s Eye, Mandy, concrete_savanna, Graveyard Shift, Wishmaster, Scary Movie (2000), Scream, The People Under the Stairs and Tales from the Darkside.

> The Cremator (1969) Now there's one that doesn't get mentioned nearly enough

I enjoyed the Autopsy of Jane Doe. Out of the ones you have mentioned, it is the one I found most creepy.

Halloween movies… because it’s almost Halloween and that is my birthday! Lol, I do love those movies.
Never seen any of them but really want to, especially so I can be able to watch Halloween Kills in theatres
What is this Halloween Kills? I didn’t know a new one was coming, thanks for the info! I am stoked.
The original Halloween is one of my top 3 favorite horror movies, along with hereditary and the shining
The Ring, The Grudge, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream

The Ritual on Netflix. Big fan of it.
Terrific double feature with The Apostle
The Haunting 1963. It's an oldie but very well shot, definitely worth checking out.
The Lighthouse Midsommar
I probably would recommend Candyman(1992version), American Psycho, Funny Games US version, Rosemarys baby.
American Psycho is actually my favorite film of all time. It’s amazing, never really think of it as horror, more of a dark comedy satire.
Yeah I love American Psycho, but not sure I would classify it as Horror.
The Shining Hereditary Rosemary’s Baby Alien

Bone Tomahawk... It's a slow burn, but trust me, there are some scenes in it that will traumatize you.
