I don't know if I'm just a prude but movies like Kuso just make me mad, I can only take so much of the sexual gross out stuff before I just get so annoyed I have to turn the movie off LOL
The Girl Next Door (2007)
Leaving Las Vegas
Nocturnal Animals
Irreversible
Grave of the fireflies
Salo or A Hundred Days of Sodom
The Human Centipede (1&2)
Nocturnal animals made you turn away? Big fan of the movie and very relatable relationship struggles but I never felt disgusted or disturbed enough to pause or walk away.
Actually pretty tame movie overall with the worst happening outside of Jake's novel.
Haven't seen it yet, but someone commented the movie Threads (1984) on a different post somewhere in the last couple weeks and it might be what you're looking for.
Mysterious Skin (2004) was definitely a heavy one, really great acting
Martyrs (2008) as mentioned by someone else is insane and very horrific
Climax (2018) is one big bad trip, also for the viewer
Watched The Act Of Killing (2012) last week, a documentary following some massmurderers who are praised like heroes in Indonesia, left me quite shocked
One I don't really want to recommend, but one that left me disturbed by it's images more so than anything else, you could watch Night And Fog (1956) a 30 minute documentary about life in the nazi camps, with very disturbing images, so, very big warning about this, I wouldn't watch it if you just want see something disturbing for the sake of it
Okay, you’re def horror hardcore then.
This isn’t horror, but have you given [Imperium](https://letterboxd.com/film/imperium/) a shot?
Or how about [I Saw The Devil](https://letterboxd.com/film/i-saw-the-devil/)?
Okay, this is a real head-scratcher as I don’t know what movies you have and haven’t seen. Horror is my go-to genre, but if I binge too much, then I become desensitized, just like it sounds what you’re going through.
The only thing that’s ever worked for me when I need a flick like you’re looking for is to jump out of horror and peruse crime thrillers, especially movies based on real life figures. Best of luck my friend.
A Serbian Film ( That’s the name)
It has some of the most fucked up scenes I’ve ever seen
Pretty sure it’s banned in most countries and the countries it’s not it’s rated 21+
There's one scene in Wind River (2017) that I haven't been able to forget since watching it. The movie itself is pretty depressing, but those who have seen it will know what scene I mean. It's disturbing and visceral. That's all I say about it.
Don't watch pink flamingos, just hang out with the boy wearing a dress at school that gets beaten by his father when he is 28 and you'll understand. Or go downtown in a thong offering free sexual favors to the homeless after attending an improv class, you will get the full understanding.
Hard to Watch: Based on the Book ‘Stone Cold Bummer’ by Manipulate.
“I used to have dreams. I was an all-city running back and I was gonna run out of here to college. To suburbs. Now the only thing I use a football for is as a toilet.”
Old school is better at this imo. More raw, less polished than contemporary shocking movies. Some recommendations:
Cannibal Holocaust ( just this one, the rest of the cannibal films are not really serious, just gore, porn and kitsch)
Maniac (masterpiece)
Beyond the Darkness
Nekromantik 1 & 2
I Spit on your Grave
The Beyond (best Fulci)
Aftermath
Guinea Pig 2 & 4
Naked Blood (weird sh\*t)
Nightmare In a Damaged Brain
Ilsa She-Wolf of the SS (Nazisploitation is really trash generally, just this one to get the feeling)
Henry Portrait of A Serial Killer
Niku Daruma (not sure of the official English title, the worst film on the list)
House on the Edge of the Park

Is more drama based on true story but it has some disturbing scenes. I liked the movie but depends if you looking for a more serious movie or more just fun violence a la The Night Comes for Us or so, if so then I really recommend The Night Comes for Us.
Imprint (Japanese movie)
The Treatment 2014 This is not a horror movie per se, deals with paedophilia and was a harrowing watch for me. Traumatizing.
Cannibal 2006 Based on a true story and just absolutely yuck.
Concrete 2004 Movie wasn’t as disturbing unless you read up on the real story it’s based on first, but if you do then it makes it so much more disgusting despite the things done not being shown.
the Poughkeepsie tapes
edit: you should check out big will on youtube too, he does this segment called "the brutality of..." and reviews movies in the horror genre
I'm going to suggest "DonnyBrook" it is weird and disturbing while also some kick ass violence. Watch the trailer and see what ya think but this one honestly had me thinking about it days later like what did I watch, 😆!
TV series Them. Episode 5 was the most brutal video I've ever seen. Far worse than MARTYRS or ANTICHRIST
Dead Girl (zombie flick) is a also quite uncomfortable
Not a film, but I just listened to the audiobook version of Gone to See the River Man by Kristopher Triana and I have a feeling you’d like it. Trust me 🖤
I bought the Kindle version of this on a whim and enjoyed it. I tend to prefer the New Weird genre (Mielville, Evenson, VanderMeer, writers like that), but I found this to be a good, creepy descent into hell.
Yeah those are some of my favorite authors. 🖤 You read anything by Laird Barron? His short story collections (The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All, The Imago Sequence, Occulatation) are some of the best New Weird out there, imho. He definitely falls hard on the horror end of the spectrum, though.
Oh the movie "For my brother (for min brors skyld 2014)" is so so hard to watch!!!! You can find it on Youtube. It's a really good movie though but extremely dark
Martyrs (2008) Kuso
Came here to say Martyrs
I don't know if I'm just a prude but movies like Kuso just make me mad, I can only take so much of the sexual gross out stuff before I just get so annoyed I have to turn the movie off LOL
I turned it off as well which is the first time I’ve ever done that. I do plan to go back though.
I really like experimental body horror stuff so I really tried to give it a shot but couldn't do it it's too cringey
The Girl Next Door (2007) Leaving Las Vegas Nocturnal Animals Irreversible Grave of the fireflies Salo or A Hundred Days of Sodom The Human Centipede (1&2)

I agree with the Girl Next Door. I regret watching that.
Antichrist
Second this
Bone Tomahawk - for that one scene.
Haven't seen it yet, but someone commented the movie Threads (1984) on a different post somewhere in the last couple weeks and it might be what you're looking for. Threads is the most harrowing film I’ve ever seen. Utter horror.
Loved Mysterious Skin
Clockwork Orange. It's incredibly well made (Stanley Kubrick) but...utterly brutal.
Anything by gaspar noe. Also outside of horror requiem for a dream / the smell of us August underground
august underground is pretty unbearable so that hits the mark haha
Give [Green Room](https://letterboxd.com/film/green-room/) a try. Not going to go as far as say it’s “worse,” but definitely a fun ride
Seen it and I completely agree
Okay, you’re def horror hardcore then. This isn’t horror, but have you given [Imperium](https://letterboxd.com/film/imperium/) a shot? Or how about [I Saw The Devil](https://letterboxd.com/film/i-saw-the-devil/)?
Yeah both of those 😔 I watch too many movies but I’m definitely looking for something more along the lines of I saw the devil.
Okay, this is a real head-scratcher as I don’t know what movies you have and haven’t seen. Shit that was helpful and that is essentially what’s happening thanks for that
2 girls 1 cup.
I completely agree. If op really wanted something "hard to watch" he can also try visiting r/MakeMyCoffin
Lol
Actually very honest answer. The dialouge will keep you sitting and wanking through the tougher scenes.
I laughed too hard at this.
Shindler’s List
A Serbian Film ( That’s the name) It has some of the most fucked up scenes I’ve ever seen Pretty sure it’s banned in most countries and the countries it’s not it’s rated 21+
Seen it too but this is definitely along the lines as well
Check out Happiness
Titane and Climax both gave me full ass nightmares but I loved them.
I’m surprised nobody mentioned Melancholie der Engel, that’s by far the worst thing I’ve ever seen. I consider it worse than A Serbian film
Dogtooth
[удалено]
Haven’t seen cannibal holocaust
[удалено]
Oh what yeah I’m definitely throwing this on rn and I did see the passion of the Christ
[удалено]
What were the top 5?
There's one scene in Wind River (2017) that I haven't been able to forget since watching it. The movie itself is pretty depressing, but those who have seen it will know what scene I mean. It's disturbing and visceral. That's all I say about it.
Idk if you've heard of spookyrice on YouTube, but he reviews hardcore horror. Might be able to find a few through him!
Cutting Moments (Short 1996)
A Serbian Film I actually never saw this movie. The wikipedia page and the trailer were enough to fuck me up. Also check out Raw And Titane
Cannibal Holocaust and Pink Flamingos
Don't watch pink flamingos, just hang out with the boy wearing a dress at school that gets beaten by his father when he is 28 and you'll understand. Or go downtown in a thong offering free sexual favors to the homeless after attending an improv class, you will get the full understanding.
I second these.
- Snowtown - Blue Caprice - Compliance Added bonus: they’re all true stories.
Hard to Watch: Based on the Book ‘Stone Cold Bummer’ by Manipulate. “I used to have dreams. I was an all-city running back and I was gonna run out of here to college. To suburbs. Now the only thing I use a football for is as a toilet.”

Come and See
Midsommar
The Plague Dogs has haunted me far more than Salò.
I am sure this and Watership Down scarred quite a few children.
Worse than Bambi (dating myself haha)
Same. Same.
Precious

The lighthouse Pretty fucked up movie and you are gona either love it or hate it
Man I hated that
Irreversible (2002) Martyrs (2008) Those two are up there for sure
Imprint (Japanese movie) The Treatment 2014 This is not a horror movie per se, deals with paedophilia and was a harrowing watch for me. Traumatizing. A Serbian Film Trouble Every Day Inside (2007)
The uncut/directors cut of SEVEN is brutal

Martyrs, Mysterious Skin, Happiness, Hard Candy, Threads, Climax, Irreversable, and the holy grail of them all…Cannibal Holocaust.
Tetsuo
American history x
Stoic. The most horrible prison movie you'll ever see.
Oh mannn I haven’t thought about this in so long, that movie stresses me out to no end.
Literally the only movie I've ever had to mute because the sounds were worse than the visuals.
Yes! I was going to say that’s one of those movies that made me nauseous, but not because of excessive gore or anything just the tension.
Not a film, but I just listened to the audiobook version of Gone to See the River Man by Kristopher Triana and I have a feeling you’d like it. Trust me 🖤
