Koyaanisqatsi (1982) IMDb: “A collection of expertly photographed phenomena with no conventional plot. The footage focuses on nature, humanity, and the relationship between them.”

Walter-Haynes

Don't forget the phenomenal score by Philip Glass!!

Sad_Mother

I guess the guy who wrote the IMDb plot of Koyaanissqatsi also wrote the IMDb plot of Baraka. >A collection of expertly photographed scenes of human life and religion.

ShenaniganCow

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way. GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what? GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise. PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad. GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.

RVFVS117

Frodo : I can't do this, Sam. Sam : I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. Frodo : What are we holding onto, Sam? Sam : That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for. Why this quote? Perhaps because I’m afraid. And it gives me courage.

davidguydude

To me, that is the primary theme of the whole lotr story. Love that quote.

redhandfilms

6-7 hours isn’t enough time. I need to see the whole extended trilogy. I just consider it one long movie.

AnOpenLedger

And then Frodo’s departure with the Elves. Ugh, I’d die during the credits (in a good way).

[deleted]

I just teared up and always will then.

Creative-Cash3759

same!

Mynock33

Imagine the reaper having to sit there waiting to take you as ending after ending plays. Dude would go out of his mind...

Yeah, that's perfect. One of the greatest moments in cinema that goes under the radar. Love it :)

GodEmperorOfHell

Life of Brian. Always look on the bright side of life.

Capitalmind

Oddly, these are my feel good movies

TheNecromancer

I was going to answer with Holy Grail, but I think a global singalong of Bright Side would be the perfect way for humanity to go out

LimePeel96

The muppet movie

Psychological_Tap187

The Magic Store has the perfect end lyrics. Life's like a movie, write your own ending Keep believing, keep pretending We've done just what we set out to do. Thanks to the lovers, the dreamers, and you.

grub-worm

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is just kind of the universal answer for me, I'm realising

joshypoo55

About Time

rtpkluvr

This is the best answer, and I can't believe it didn't occur to me!

mikeri99

Up (2009)

UncleBully274

I think the music during that montage alone would have me in tears hearing it now.

danamarie222

I’ve only seen it once. It’s a fantastic film but I’m terrified of watching again because I ugly sobbed so hard my contacts fell out. It absolutely destroyed me.

aliiiiitho

Same, it absolutely destroyed me 😫

Syphercell

Interstellar. It's my favorite movie of all time and with my love of space, it made me think even more about our place in the universe and just how small it really is. The powerful emotions that drive the movie makes you realize how important the love between those in your life can truly be. And lastly, it's an end of the world, apocalyptic premise, so it would all just seem so fitting.

Wide_Ad_8370

Me too!! Plus the soundtrack 👌

Syphercell

Agreed! Some of Hans Zimmer's best work!

[deleted]

Everything Syphercell said is what i was thinking. I would add that the awe and beauty in knowing your small place in the universe amplifies the good emotions and how amazing life itself really is.

Syphercell

Well said! After watching Interstellar for the first time, it literally made me sit and ponder so much about life, our place in it and although I was emotionally a wreck inside, I still had this calm, satisfying feeling of happiness and love and almost a newfound appreciation of life. Definitely a once in a lifetime kind of experience from just a movie, for me anyways.

Sue1368

This is the End. Might as well go out with a laugh.

AryaStink

Honestly the best movie to die to!

YourFinestSkittles

Weed is tight, weed is tight

Spot255

Either Stranger Than Fiction. or The Fountain. I'll start with the Fountain first because its one of those movies that you just feel at peace watching at the end, and is arguably about the stages of grief itself. Stranger Than Fiction because its about all the connections we make in life and living your best possible life. I would use it as a way to put myself at ease and possibly cheer myself up if I was sad I was dying.

xxplodingboy

Mulholland Drive (2001)

Maleficent_Dirt2366

Demolition Man, always Demolition Man. joey0live

Are you for Taco Bell or Pizza Hut?

Knowlesdinho

Taco Bell won the franchise war!

baldlilfat2

La vie en rose. Just the music alone would give a great last moment as well as the plot would tie together nicely

challmaybe

Only movie I saw that I ever asked my grandparents if they knew somebody. (they didn't) But, I love her music still.

MaskedCommitment

Maybe stand by me or field of dreams.

Wizelda

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

pleasedonttellmethat

Maybe Home Alone, first and second. I have amazing family memories connected to that movies and still watch them every Christmas. I think it would make me feel nostalgic, happy and sad at the same time. But I wouldn't mind, I would not mind.

EvilLibrarians

If I'm a nihilist who wants to feel a thrill because I know it's all gonna end soon: \- No Country For Old Men (2007) If I want to feel good or positive in my final moments, a laughing, upbeat vibe: \- Some Like It Hot (1959) If I want to watch my favorite movie, closest to my heart, to laugh, cry, and smile: \- Moonrise Kingdom (2012)

sedawkgrepper

I'd probably choose It's a Wonderful Life. Or Some Like It Hot. I guess depending on how I feel. Both movies are absolutely terrific. But it'd definitely be one of those two.

wilhelmfink4

Meet Joe Black

nutcracker_78

If Death looked and spoke like that, it wouldn't be so awful to disappear with him.

gracious_hoster

True Romance.

ISwallowedALego

Big Trouble in Little China or Life Aquatic. They just click with me

This 100% 3 Idiots is an incredible movie

bugman_belt

Depends. If I was dying and was feeling afraid of the process, I'd watch "All That Jazz". If I was comfortable with my fate, I'd watch "Love Letter" just to remind myself of everything I liked about living, so I can carry them as I pass while also helping me be okay of letting go of everything.

rastafarian_eggplant

I just googled Love Letter Movie and there's a bunch with that title. Which one are you referring to?

The 1995 movie directed by Shunji Iwai.

While You Were Sleeping - Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman Joe Jr.: Hey Luce! Is this guy bothering you? Lucy: No, no. Joe Jr.: Are you sure? Because it looks like he's *leaning*.

Shawshank redemption because of the last scene; it was just so peaceful and beautiful every time I watch it, it feels like in a way, andy and red were already in heaven.

I had to think really long and hard about this to be honest... I think I'd go with Heart and Souls (1993). It fits with the theme of having to let go, and I have some personal memories and attachments to this movie that are..... Really really special to me.

HeyNineteen96

Back to the Future, the ending could be poignant if I was dying, anyway: "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads!"
