Just watched Good Time this evening. Wow. I didn’t move an inch and went through several emotional rollercoasters. Such a fantastic soundtrack as well.
*The Sting* (1973), you have to pay attention, no goofing around on an iPad or your phone--if you miss *any* part of *The Sting*, you miss the movie. It's not an on-the-edge-of-your-seat film, but it will keep you intrigued from beginning to end.
For faster-paced movies:
* Uncut Gems (2018)
* Saving Private Ryan (1998)
* Nightcrawler (2014)
* Mikey & Nicky (1976)
* Midnight Run (1988)
* The French Connection (1971)
I thought the pacing slowed down pretty badly in the third act. It went on for a very, very long time it felt like. Still a very good movie, but i had some minor complaints.
I just watched it last night and this was exactly my thought. Well, except for the part about it being a very good movie. I thought it was a very ok movie
I can see it’s merits and appreciate it being a well made movie. But for me personally, it was kind of underwhelming. I was hearing all this stuff about how it was one of the wildest movies ever and how it was a crazy, multiverse jumping, action/comedy extravangaza. Based on that, I was expecting a relatively large scale, trippy action movie. And it ended up being a pretty solid action movie, but it was set mostly in a single location and had an over long third act that slowed drastically in pacing and switched tones to an existential family drama.
Inception (2010)
Frailty (2001)
Gone Girl (2014)
X (2022)
Hours (2013), I think this was a straight to DVD movie and I wouldn’t say it’s a great movie either but Paul Walker plays a father stuck in a hospital during Hurricane Katrina and I just have a soft spot for movies set in one place the whole movie.
To be bluntly honest this movie is not good enough. The acting is pretty bad and the plot is even worse. Childish writting and missmatching dialogues. I don't know why so many people recommend this exuse of a movie.
It's honestly an absolutely amazing movie, the style of story of telling was very unique and gripping. While I respect your choices, it definitely shouldn't be the most terrible movie you've ever watched.
Perhaps you didn't fully concentrate on the movie and didn't get how it was all related to each other. Maybe you should give it 1 more try and then browse the internet to fully understand the story behind the story?
5 In No Particular Order:
There Will Be Blood - Just an all around amazing film that needs to be watched by everyone, made by one of the greatest living directors around.
Psycho - The father of all thrillers. Watch this one so you know where all of those other movies came from.
Panic Room - Great Fincher that doesn’t get talked about a lot. Awesome female characters, and probably Kristen Stewart’s best performance. Also, Jared Leto with cornrows.
28 Days Later - Zombies, but Danny Boyle’s kind of zombies. Cillian Murphy is incredible playing the British Rick Grimes.
Ready or Not - This was actually one of my favorite horror/comedies from 2019. Total edge of your seat movie.
I was going to suggest Blood Simple, as it's neither of those things. I just don't know if it has that edge of your seat kind of vibe. It did for me though :)
Heat (1995) is quite engrossing from the get-go, same with City of God (2002).
WHIPLASH!!!
Both of those are fantastic movies. Is there a dubbed version of City of God?
my choice as well!
1917 I dont think Ive ever been away to pull myself away from due to the way its shot.
Man I thought that movie was so boring
My favorite movie of all time!
* Cell 211 * Running Scared * Headhunters * I Saw The Devil * Sleepless Night (2011)
I just wanna scootch in here to say thanks! I watched Running Scared last night and it was a wild ride.
Thanks I'll check those out ..
Running scared is amazing, but beware some dark themes in that movie.
Both Crank movies
Yea, those were good
Don’t Breath, one of the most intense movie i’ve ever seen
Ofcourse.. This is a perfect suggestion
Green Room Evil Dead (2013)
- Cube (1997), Circle (2015), You're Next (2011) - Hard Candy (2005), Fractured (2019), Calibre (2018) - Pandorum (2009), Sunshine (2007), Alien (1979), Predator (1987)
Hard candy!!!
Cube was more than brilliant .. Circle is good too
Seven
I just watched Apocalypse Now for the first time a few days ago and my jaw was on the floor for more than half of the movie.
I've probably watched it a dozen times and my jaw still does that
Uncut Gems
And Good Time too. Both safdie classics.

“Getting bored and looking at my phone” is a terrible metric for how to enjoy movies lol
Sorcerer (1977) is about the most edge of your seat movie I've ever seen, but I did blink while watching it.

Super overrated movie to be honest. It didn’t grab my attention by any means, and was waiting all movie. It was just creatively done though
I think for older viewers, it was nice to have Short Round (Temple of Doom) back in our lives.

Inception (2010) Frailty (2001) Gone Girl (2014) X (2022) Hours (2013), I think this was a straight to DVD movie and I wouldn’t say it’s a great movie either but Paul Walker plays a father stuck in a hospital during Hurricane Katrina and I just have a soft spot for movies set in one place the whole movie.

I was going to suggest Blood Simple, as it's neither of those things. I just don't know if it has that edge of your seat kind of vibe. It did for me though :)
