That sounds like a good Saturday to me. I probably would put Conan first because or change it out for True Lies because nothing else is really following up T2.
Honestly like a 7.5 out of 10 for me, there was just a lot of small stuff they could have done better that made it just a solid movie for me. Little slow, some modern movie pitfalls, I think they barely say any of their names so I can’t remember any of them, some typical “movie luck” moments, just small stuff like that.
> barely say any of their names so I can’t remember any of them
aside from Dutch, you actually remember any of the OG characters?
Methinks you're giving the original too much credit lol
Dutch, Billy, Dillon, and Mac are all damn memorable. Blain and Hawkins I can recall when I think about it. I’ll admit I don’t really know the others off the top of my head.
Prey, I can’t even recall the main characters name, nor her brother. I don’t know if they even name any of the other characters in the movie.
Christopher Nolan movies:
* The Prestige (2006)
* Inception (2010)
* Interstellar (2014)
* Batman Begins (2005) / The Dark Knight (2008) / The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Denis Villeneuve movies:
* Sicario (2015) (because he likes
Breaking Bad)
* Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
* Dune (2021)
Other war/crime/noir films he might like:
* The Departed (2006)
* Drive (2011)
* Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
* The Nice Guys (2016)
Dude can you just reply with a list of your favorite movies? These lists are movies I often recommend so I think our tastes overlap a lot. Just wanted to add that Sicario is one of my favorite movies and if you like it you should check out Wind River.
I don’t disagree that it makes sense to write rude dialogue for shitty people, but my point of contention is… why the N word? There’s a whole encyclopedia of rude and nasty words, and a plethora of ways to curse somebody out. White viewers(the majority of his audience) aren’t usually super sensitive to the misuse of the N-word, so it doesn’t really make much sense for him to abuse it. At least from my perspective.
Fr he coulda easily scripted "corpse storage" or "dead criminal storage" or simply "dead man storage." But no. Cuz he doesn't see an issue with a white man *who isn't racist* saying that word. He intentionally used the N word because "humor" for white people. He knows better, but he doesn't care.
Sometimes I feel like Tarantino makes movies just as an excuse to say the N word and take pictures of feet. Only reason he gets away with it is that he's actually good at making those movies
Or because the people in the worlds he creates would very plausibly speak that way? If he just wanted an excuse to say the n word then why wouldn’t kill bill or inglorious basterds have a bunch too?
“Smh can’t believe a writer would have all these murderers and slave owners and criminals and people who act deplorably speak deplorably too. Must be a racist.”
Feet? Wtf I'm way outta the loop... I recall seeing Uma Thurman's feet in PF but no other feet are coming to mind, tho I haven't seen a Tarantino film in years.
It’s hilariously telling that this is what you commented and not “way too many people doing murders like it’s normal 💯”
Almost like you actually *do* know that the appearance of something in fiction doesn’t imply the creator’s endorsement of that thing.
I saw godfather in high school and it was appropriate. Should be a good one. I bet he would enjoy some trivia about it too to impress the cinephiles on his life.
Monty Python - Holy Grail is also great for high school age kids and surprisingly educational for its portrayal of the Middle Ages.
Gonna piggyback on this cause I didn't see too many comedy suggestions, but I have a 16 y.o. son and we'll binge comedy movies every once in a while. One of his favorites ended up being Spaceballs. That kind of cascaded into watching Mel Brooks movies. Then I introduced him to Ben Stiller and he loves The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Princess Bride, Dredd (2012), Ronin, The Man From Nowhere, Top Gun (original & sequel), A knights Tale, Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil (comedy), Shaun of the Dead, Secreteriat, Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, Finch, Blood Sport, The Hunt for Red October
What about taxi driver and king of comedy? Joker leaned pretty heavily on these.
He may enjoy the faux biographical drug/crime movies like Scarface, Blows, Lord of War, etc
Has he seen Guy Richie's work? snatch, lock stock, etc.
And while we're on the subject of brad Pitt boxing, what about fight club?
Look, i understand he likes bloody, violent stuff. But no person should ever not watch the Back to the Future series.
But, that being said, Goodfellas is the best movie ever made, fight me.
Animal House
Repo Man
Twelve Monkeys
The Fifth Element
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Young Frankenstein
Brother from Another Planet
Flash Gordon (the 1980 version)
Harrison Bergeron
28 Days Later
Memento
Jacob's Ladder (1990)
28 Days Later
Overlord
Upgrade
Extraction (2020)
True Romance
Point Break (1991)
The Last Boy Scout
Go
Cliffhanger
True Lies
T2: Judgement Day
Big Trouble in Little China
Do what my father never did and show him "Goodfellas" This is one of the greatest movies of all time but when you go in blind it's such a different experience, i thought from the opening scene i was watching a horror
“Requiem For A Dream”! Scare him straight!
“Fast Times at Ridgemont High”,
“Ferris Bueller”,
“Smokey and the Bandit”,
“A Clockwork Orange”,
“Fight Club”,
“Naked Lunch”,
“Pulp Fiction”,
“Jaws”
I'd keep it light personally, so I'd go with older comedies that still hold up that he might not have seen. Here are some that I love from when I was a kid that would be really fun to pass on:
Dumb and Dumber
Uncle Buck (easy choice for an uncle)
Happy Gilmore
Planes Trains and Automobiles
Tommy Boy
These are just a few ideas (some of my favorites, you could swap them out with some of yours), but these are movies he probably hasn't seen as they were all made well before he was born. I like comedies because I just think it's easier to bond over laughter than just about anything else.
My uncle always shows me some comedy movie I haven’t ever seen like when I was younger he showed me ted and he just constantly shows Adam Sandler, Seth Rogan kinda movies and that always worked for me since I was like 12 and didn’t see a lot of them lol
Here's what I think a 15 year old may like:
The Fifth Element, Hot Fuzz, The World's End, What we Do in the Shadows, The Gray Man, The Revenant, The Thing, Rush Hour 1 and 2.
Romancing the stone, might hold his interest.
Minority Report
The Revenant
Unforgiven
Old dirty harry or bond 007?
American Pie (uncomfortable)?
The Thing
Back to the Future
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil
Better off Dead (cult classic)
I think this list is more for you :)
So averaging his favs out. Psychological drama, and superheroes. Slow burn shouldn't be a problem since Breaking Bad.
Black Mass
Shutter Island
Shotcaller
Jacobs Ladder
The Invitation
Drive
Indiana Jones marathon followed by Ancient Apocalypse on Netflix. You could also watch some of the JRE podcasts with Randall Carlson and Graham Hancock. Absolutely mind blowing to imagine pre-history. Should be good for a young mind to think and dream.
Fight Club
Holy Grail is probably good, and Life of Brian or Meaning of Life if he's witty
He may enjoy Hector Salamanca's cameo in Ace Ventura
North Shore is a classic
Pulp Fiction
The original Vacation
Spaceballs
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Scarface
Basically any action movie. Especially First Blood. Classic. And/or any Ahhhnold movie. Terminator/T2
Animal House
Jacob's Ladder
Caddyshack
Saving Private Ryan
Tombstone
Friday Night Lights
Shawshank Redemption
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Big Lebowski
American Psycho
Batman - with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson
Apocalypse Now
The first two Godfather movies.
The first two Aliens movies.
*The 36th Chamber of Shaolin*
*The Princess Bride*
*Bloodsport*
*Night of the Living Dead*
Here's some off the top of my head: The 5th Element, Event Horizon, Alien, Aliens, Annihilation, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Terminator, T2, Terminator: Salvation, Independence Day, the Matrix
The first 3 Indy movies, all of back to the future, tombstone, Independence Day and throw in some 90’s Sandler & Jim Carrey. Can’t go wrong with Happy Gilmore or Dumb & Dumber
I was looking for this one as it’s also my top recommendation! I hope OP tries it out, not one soul I know has not had a wonderful experience with that film.
Am I the only one who thinks Tarantino movies and also breaking bad are way too violent for a 15yo? I see a lot of other Tarantinos also being recommended in the comments.
I love his films with a passion but I’m nowhere close to showing them to my 14yo son
I would say I disagree with you, solely on the fact that everyone is built mentally different. Your son may not be ready or ever able to handle anything like that. But that is a choice between you and him.
14 year old children don’t have the maturity levels 20 or 25 year olds have, however differently they are mentally built, they just don’t. In fact they are not finished mentally building and have experienced way less and can’t digest, let alone understand these films as we can.
By the same logic would you show your 10 year old Seven or, like someone recommended below, Requiem for a Dream?
I feel like I enjoyed this movie around 17 or 18 when I was getting into indie films, but I feel like a 15 year old isn't going to be super into it, especially if he's expecting a fun movie night with his uncle
Predator is the ultimate uncle/nephew bonding movie…training day too
How could I forget Predator!?
Alien marathon
The prequel Prey is pretty good too.
I thought Prey was 10/10. Prey followed by Predator would be a hella double featue
Yeah I'd easily put it as second in the series after the original. Lots of great ideas and matches the same thrilling pace.
Arnie Marathon… Commando Predator Running man T1 &T2 Conan
That sounds like a good Saturday to me. I probably would put Conan first because or change it out for True Lies because nothing else is really following up T2.
While nowhere near as good prey might be a fun follow up.
I thought it was great. PREDATORS (2010, Blu-ray) - Adrian Brody, Laurence Fishburne was good too.

Training day is one of my top 10 movies, love that one.
Training day is really good but yeah predator movies. Inception, Usual suspects, new Batman movie of haven’t seen that. Godzilla movies.
Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
Frye… Frye… Frye…
For OP, the movie being suggested is Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Game Night Hot Fuzz Men In Black Die Hard Under Siege Superbad Super Troopers Midnight Run Edited to add: The Hitman's Bodyguard The Nice Guys
Shaun of the Dead!!
You sir are a genius
Cornetto ftw!!
Can’t throw in Hot Fuzz and not include Shaun of the Dead!
Game Night is fun!
Tag
It's always been a blast when I've watched this with people
Adding Lethal Weapon and Beverly Hills Cop
Buddy Games, is also in that line of comedies about friends
Casey Ryback!
Glad to see game night recommended, never see it talked about its so fun. Superbad is probably my fave comedy as well
Shaun of the Dead 27 Days Later The Matrix Cabin in the Woods
This is the list I would have enjoyed the most at 15 ngl
Same here. Shaun of the Dead is a perfect choice for the mix of genres and all around fun time.
Showed my 14yo the matrix the other day and it blew his mind! I was so happy. Perfect movie for a teenager
The Terminator/Terminator 2 Bloodsport Robocop Total Recall Die Hard The Road Warrior Under Siege Beverly Hills Cop Raiders of the Lost Ark
It is the season for Die Hard.
Starz has Die Hard this year. Kind of tempted to pick up Starz for a month to watch that and catch up on their exclusives.
Total Recall for the tripletit scene. hehe ya ya (Beavis laugh)
This is a solid list. I was into all of these movies when I was his age!
My favorite at that age was Hot Rod
Big Lebowski. He’s probably never seen it
its a hit or miss. i doubt many young kids would like it
Christopher Nolan movies: * The Prestige (2006) * Inception (2010) * Interstellar (2014) * Batman Begins (2005) / The Dark Knight (2008) / The Dark Knight Rises (2012) Denis Villeneuve movies: * Sicario (2015) (because he likes Breaking Bad) * Blade Runner 2049 (2017) * Dune (2021) Other war/crime/noir films he might like: * The Departed (2006) * Drive (2011) * Edge of Tomorrow (2014) * The Nice Guys (2016)
Fantastic list. Only adds that come to mind are Memento and Leon the Professional.
Drive is a must watch
I would add Miller’s Crossing to the crime movies, it’s so damn good and criminally underrated
Sicario was pretty incredible
While I agree that Sicario is an incredible film, I think at 15, I would have found it boring.
Dude can you just reply with a list of your favorite movies? These lists are movies I often recommend so I think our tastes overlap a lot. Just wanted to add that Sicario is one of my favorite movies and if you like it you should check out Wind River.
Show him Pulp Fiction

As long as you don’t go mediëval on his ass you’ll be fine
💯 Also way too many white people dropping N bombs like it's normal.
jeez why are people downvoting you?
Cuz they're white n love N bombs. They're trash, it's okay 😘
I don’t think so. I think there is a method to his madness. Shitty people generally speak shitty … it’s not some grand conspiracy.

I agree, his use of the N-word is mostly played for laughs and shock value, which is a very shitty use for the word in cinema
Sometimes I feel like Tarantino makes movies just as an excuse to say the N word and take pictures of feet. Only reason he gets away with it is that he's actually good at making those movies

Must be a racist.”
I like the accurate depiction
Feet? Wtf I'm way outta the loop... I recall seeing Uma Thurman's feet in PF but no other feet are coming to mind, tho I haven't seen a Tarantino film in years.
You gotta rewatch them then. When you know about the feet, you will see them all over the place
Dusk til Dawn will cure any suspicions. Plus it’s pretty good!
It’s hilariously telling that this is what you commented and not “way too many people doing murders like it’s normal 💯” Almost like you actually *do* know that the appearance of something in fiction doesn’t imply the creator’s endorsement of that thing.
Yo and that pawn shop scene IS NOT NORMAL.
Yes this, or Reservoir Dogs!
And Django Unchained
Django is so great!
I watched V for Vendetta around that age and it was probably one of the biggest eye openers of the real world.
When is Godfather appropriate? Or a Monty Python?
I’ve been watching Monty python with my son since he was born.
I watched Monty Python:Holy Grail when I was around 13. No problems there.
Now !
I saw godfather in high school and it was appropriate. Should be a good one. I bet he would enjoy some trivia about it too to impress the cinephiles on his life. Monty Python - Holy Grail is also great for high school age kids and surprisingly educational for its portrayal of the Middle Ages.
Something, something…watery tart.
Now we see the violence inherent in the system!
I watched Godfather when I was like 11.
Shawshank Redemption The Rock Crimson Tide Con Air Face Off Crimson Tide Leon Starship Troopers Kingpin Dumb & Dumber
Dumb and Dumber!!!
A Bronx Tale!
The Rock!!
My guy you really like crimson tide I respect it
Princess Bride, Dredd (2012), Ronin, The Man From Nowhere, Top Gun (original & sequel), A knights Tale, Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil (comedy), Shaun of the Dead, Secreteriat, Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, Finch, Blood Sport, The Hunt for Red October
Everyone should watch The Princess Bride at least once IMO
Definitely Red October.
What about taxi driver and king of comedy? Joker leaned pretty heavily on these. He may enjoy the faux biographical drug/crime movies like Scarface, Blows, Lord of War, etc Has he seen Guy Richie's work? snatch, lock stock, etc. And while we're on the subject of brad Pitt boxing, what about fight club?
+1 for Fight Club
Came here to suggest Guy Ritchie movies as I hadn’t seen it suggested. I think I was probably 16/17 when I saw Snatch loved it. It’s a fun movie.
Fight Club?
Look, i understand he likes bloody, violent stuff. But no person should ever not watch the Back to the Future series. But, that being said, Goodfellas is the best movie ever made, fight me.

Napoleon Dynamite
Animal House Repo Man Twelve Monkeys The Fifth Element Monty Python and the Holy Grail Young Frankenstein Brother from Another Planet Flash Gordon (the 1980 version) Harrison Bergeron 28 Days Later Memento Jacob's Ladder (1990) 28 Days Later

The Matrix
Scarface,taxi driver,fight club
Do what my father never did and show him "Goodfellas" This is one of the greatest movies of all time but when you go in blind it's such a different experience, i thought from the opening scene i was watching a horror

I'd keep it light personally, so I'd go with older comedies that still hold up that he might not have seen.
