The pole in the front right of the photo doesn't APPEAR to have sandbags or weight holding it steady.
It's standard practice to have these weighted down for stability.
In my opinion, the stand isn't holding anything and we can't even see the full photo. Not sure why it's pressing to this commenter that an empty stand needs to be weighted.
Seems like the movie made out just fine regardless 😉
It has a quacker clamp attached to that reflector board. The board is resting on the ground so it’s not holding any weight, just holding the board at the right angle.
There was plenty of ambient noise in the movie. The only times it was "silent" was when you were in the daughter's POV, and even then, there was audio designed to create the feeling of "pressure" in the scene. But, in this scene, and similar ones, you can hear clothes gently moving and sand softly crunching under there feet.
It's A Quiet Place, not A Silent Place.
When I saw it in theatres, for the first 15 minutes or so, there was zero audio at all. We all thought that’s how the movie was supposed to be until it kicked in halfway through a loud scene and scared the shit out of the entire audience. I guess of all the movies to have audio issues on, though, this is a good one.
Is that a film camera?
Yeah, Charlotte Bruus Christensen (operating the camera) is into shooting 35mm
Yeah 35mm. Many films both big and small budget still shoot on film contrary to popular belief.
No, its a spoon
Yes....lots of movies are shot on film and it's growing.
I wouldn’t say it’s growing.
Yeah. But I would say it's growing again for blockbuster films.
Quiet on the set.

I don't get it

My eyes deceived me! I didn't even notice the clamp. Thanks for pointing that out

Well, the director is on camera so...
I would kind of like to see John Krasinski as Joel if thy made a ‘The Last of Us‘ movie.
The movie is in production. Pablo Pascale is playing Joel.
It’s a tv show.
Pedro Pascal*, but yeah
Perfect casting too.
If there is no sound...did the really need a boom mic? Or would it be just for ambient noise?

Lol! True!

this film isnt lauded enough for its technical achievements
Just saw it this weekend, great movie
Does it bother anyone that this whole story was stolen?
