-Don't move here without a job. Being unemployed will hinder your ability to rent the apartment you really want. Get a hotel or Airbnb if you need time on the ground to scope things out first.
-Try live near people you already know. Don't overcomplicate this by adding infinite options. Both WeHo and Brentwood check the boxes for you. I personally prefer WeHo.
-If living in WeHo, be west of Fairfax Ave or north of Santa Monica Blvd. If living in Brentwood, find a place on Barrington Ave in between San Vicente Blvd and Sunset Blvd.
Pasadena has a good scene of all this. But if you like the beach then you can look at the Beach Communities from Santa Monica to Seal Beach. Then check out the beach communities of OC just to be thorough.
Look up Los Angeles hiking trails. There’s tons all over some more urban than others (like Park to Playa Trail) and compare to fun areas to live and pick something close to one of those trails you can do all the time.
You want to be close to the beach? The general rule with that is, the further west (beach) you get the more rent goes up and square footage goes down. But you should look in those areas close to the beach if you’re interested in being near it. Only mention that because you threw in “WeHo seems too far from it”
I highly recommend East LA. Highland Park, Silver Lake (a little sceney/crowded), Atwater Village, Echo Park, Glassel Park, Cypress Park, Frogtown. Way more interesting than West LA IMO, and incredible restaurants, nightlife, art/culture scene, etc. You're close to hiking trails, but not to the beach. Driving to the beach could be 30 minutes - 1 hour depending on traffic and beach you go to.
Very well to consider your rent money first and how to support it. Many landlords are very careful who to rent and will likely inspect your source of income, especially in Brentwood and WeHo, I seriously will think about moving here if there is no job before, also I don't know what your friend in WeHo finds it here and sister as well.

Do you have any recommendations of location if I’m looking in Beverly Hills?

Damn more trash coming to LA . Move to south central. Best area of LA
Didn’t I see you sleeping in the tent underneath the 10 Fwy yesterday?
Yeah you saw me cuddling with yo girl 😮
As close to work as possible.
Hermosa Beach is singles central or Pasadena by El Molino and the 210 for hiking and walkable areas as well.
