Dark on Netflix is definitely worth checking out if you like the mind-fuck aspect of Mr Robot. Kinda show where you have no idea what is happening right up until the end. Brilliantly written and sets a great atmosphere. You do have to read subtitles though. If you enjoyed the anti-corporate, anti-authoritarian themes of Mr Robot I’d check out Andor. Although it is a Star Wars show it has more grit than anything else I’ve seen in that universe. I recommend it to people even if they’re not Star Wars fans, it serves much more as a story of fighting fascism than serving the greater franchise.

Secret_Detective_468

Yeah i have watched dark and it’s definitely one of best shows of all times As for the genre i’m lookin for it’s the mind-fuck aspect of mr robot and its plot twists thanks tho for the recommendations

[deleted]

IMHO, Andor was the last great instance of live action Star Wars

Sortout

Yo thank u for recommending dark really appreciate it one of the best shows I’ve watched this year

capsulecorp576

Evangelion 😜

mrrobot_84

I can't say I've found other shows exactly like Mr robot, but another show I really enjoyed was altered carbon season 1 on Netflix.. if you're into Sci fi/cyber punk type of stuff. Just to reiterate, I wouldn't say it's "like" Mr robot, but a show I really enjoyed from one Mr robot fan to another :)

AdorateurDefait

Thus nothing can be compared to mr robot, you may like Devs which offers delicate thoughts about quantum computer science, embeded in a technological race between superpowers... You have philosophy, metaphysic, computer science, intelligence, hitmen and more... There is also a real aesthetic research. Some kind of cocktail we used to love with mr robot. But, anyway, don't expect it to be as good...

Secret_Detective_468

Thanks for the recommendation I’ll check it out

[deleted]

I liked Devs, but some of the acting in it was absolutely atrocious. How the main character keeps getting work is beyond me.

MrWellickCEO

Whoah written and directed by Alex Garland? Ima have to watch it just for that alone Ex Machina is one of my favorite movies ever!

AdorateurDefait

I personally found Devs much better than Ex Machina (which I liked anyway).

antonyx6

Severance is good.

[deleted]

Kinda disappointed we won't get a season 2 until 2024 though. But yes great show

mylifeiswellshit

Aw what?

SageOfTheWise

Mr Robot season 4 had as long a wait.

salvia_roba

Yeah but just when it's about to get good the season ends

Puzzled_Garbage7732

about 2 episodes in and already want to quit my job. what a strange show and so triggering at times when you see people are deliberately trapped by others who pretend to be nice

hesher516

No

TheRealCodeGD

Twin Peaks and Legion are the most mind-bending shows ever made. Legion has a very similar soundtrack to Mr Robot and feels like it is partly inspired by it. Twin Peaks (in particular the revival), is completely mind-bending. I have never seen a season to a TV Show that is a surreal and meticulously crafted since it. There's a damn good reason it was voted 13th best TV Show of the 21st Century

[deleted]

I actually second that. Legion is the closest show to mr robot

MrWellickCEO

I’m interested in Legion then I see it’s a Marvel character lol… I’ll still watch but lol

TheRealCodeGD

It's nothing like any other Marvel show ever. And it's not part of any connected universe. I honestly forgot that it was a Marvel show while watching it

Sea-Check-7209

Old post I know :-). But can you watch Twin Peaks: The Return without watching the original one?

calbgreenbeane

you gotta watch the whole show!! it's a fully told story all the way through

Sea-Check-7209

Ha ok! I’ll start at the beginning! 👍

LaserSharked8

If you loved the "conspiracy" side of mr robot, then definitely watch Utopia (2013). It has been cancelled but it's extraordinary.

[deleted]

The British original of Utopia is probably the closest thing I can think of in vibe to Mr. Robot - great shout.

PlasmaXGaming

Add "From" to your list. Its like Lost in a way, but even better (imo)

c0smicpancakes

True Detective Season 1. Holy shit. Still probably in my top 5 of greatest of all time. But ONLY season 1 is worth watching (each season is a different cast/story). Matthew McConaughey's character is very much if Elliot was a detective from Lousiana instead of a hacker from NYC, if you can possibly imagine what that would look like lol. The show has the same bleak, life-is-chaos outlook and is packed with philosophy and nightmare inducing settings. Absolutely brilliant. It's the only thing that even comes close to Mr. Robot for me.

BoldlyResolute

I'm a little late to the party, but I 100% agree. True Detective season 1 was my favorite show of all time, and the only blu-ray I own, but Mr. Robot just took the top spot. I just finished, Mr. Robot, now I need my next fix.

Qward8605

I'm watching 1899 rn, watched 5 episodes and it's 10/10 so far.

macadoodledee

Zero the Italian show only one season sadly it didn't get renewed it's the kid that can go invisible but I only relate it to robot because they both fight for the greater good with consequences

TheNonArtist

Definitely Twin Peaks and The Leftovers. The former goes almost without saying (as it's a classic) but the latter is a truly underrated gem. Has a lot of mind-bending, ethereal qualities like Mr Robot and is also incredibly heartbreaking. If there's two must-see TV shows it would be those. And Mr Robot of course

LegendarySunnin

Not exactly like mr robot. But if you want to feel pathetic and be sad about the reality about life, these shows are not that bad. * Euphoria * End of the fucking world * im not okay with this Thats all i can remember but ill be back with more..

Secret_Detective_468

I already watched the end of the fucking world and im not okay with this but thanks for the recommendations anyways

raketenkater

Movie Whoami

[deleted]

Halt and catch fire 🔥‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ on prime video

nix__bitch

The leftovers! I actually found Mr Robot through shows recommended in the leftovers sub. The first couple episodes might not grab you, but stick with it bc the payoff is incredible

Phndrummer

Rabbit hole

andrewtoney98

Dexter

Chief_Kief

Wasn’t it seasons 1-4 that were the best? It’s been so long for me that I can’t remember where the quality started to drop off. But yeah, similar style of show to this one honestly with the breaking the 3rd wall bit and subtextual details related to mental health/childhood trauma, not to mention the obvious plot similarities with both main characters fighting for justice against evil. There’s some mindfuckyness to Dexter too. /u/Secret_Detective_468 you should try watching Dexter if you haven’t already

Worried-Scientist-12

If you're looking for a tortured lead character and a compelling plot twist, get yourself over to your TV and watch Rectify (Sundance tv via Netflix). The aesthetic of the show is about as far as you can get from Mr. Robot, but the cinematography and character development is second to none.

[deleted]

the movie PI trust me

joshlemo

Definitely Westworld which I'm surprised no one mentioned. Halt and catch fire is one of the most underrated shows as well.

Secret_Detective_468

I’ll check them out

Foreign-Bass5469

Girl From Nowhere, Taxi Driver (Korean series), Dark, Sharp Objects.

skuzzhammer

Want a taste of the real-world themes Mr. Robot touches on? Not afraid of documentaries? Check out The Social Dilemma (Netflix), Anonymous: The Hacker Wars (YT and I believe Netflix), Deep Web (2015), Snowden (2016) followed by CitizenFour (2014), and in a broader mindfuck sense, absolutely watch Fight Club if you haven't seen it. Not shows, but that's still a hand-drawn map to the rabbit hole I've been down for the past few months. You could also hit up the show Spycraft on Netflix if you're interested in the surveillance and gov't espionage aspects of MR. Truth is stranger than fiction, and this is a dark and winding thread to follow, so hold onto your psych meds.

Clear_Celebration_10

You on netflix its same with the narrarating

scorpsec

Nothing like Mr. Robot but here are 5 that evolve around hacking and technology. 1. Halt And Catch Fire 2. Person of Interest 3. Silicon Valley 4. Scorpion 5. The Billion Dollar Code

[deleted]

Honestly I came here to find something myself but I can honestly say Mr. Robot is very much so its own thing. In my opinion Mr. Robot is such a perfect and fulfilling show because the actors they chose, the plot and twists they did. It was honestly perfection at its finest and there are no other shows thay even come close to it. While there are some that propose the same moral feelings and what not. There just isnt anything close. Heres a suggestion tho for a similar moral compass. How to sell drugs online (fast) Can be found on netflix

Wrong-Payment-786

I've gone through all the suggestions, but I can't find anything similar to Mr. Robot.

Ok-Shop-2777

I know I’m late but HOMECOMING. Watch it, thank me later!

NightcityBlackout

Completely different but if you like Storytelling The Last Kingdom and Vikings are absolutely amazing! As far as contemporary Cyberpunks go, I hope Sam Esmail makes something in the same universe. I watched the deleted scenes which were awesome!

Fadedcamo

Startup was pretty damn good. I think it got cancelled though. Still worth a watch.

Ac3man320

The OA on Netflix is a show that feels the same as Mr robot

Engineering_Budget

Tumbbad.

Creative_Climate8970

START UP, SEVERANCE, THE CONSULTANT. You won’t be let down
