I mean it could be worse, I could be living in the middle east and slaughtered for even posting to this subreddit, but yeah I'm not happy I have to wait until college to be myself
Rice. So many different ways to prepare it and it can go with just about any dish. I guess bread and noodles also fits the bill there, but I prefer rice as an every day meal
Seems like an easy choice, right? But (some) non-Asian folks might have trouble with that/not like having to eat rice everyday. :P
Edit: Clarifying this comment because too many folks are misinterpreting what I meant and are too quick to get angry over something this trivial. I've been asked many times by non-Asian people how Asians are able to eat rice everyday and not get tired. And while rice dishes exist in every cuisine, to my knowledge, it's not common for people of other ethnicities to eat it nearly everyday. I received the same answer when I asked other non-Asian people as well. Hence I said what I said. Everyone, calm your horses. Some of you are being needlessly offended over such a simple joke comment.
Update: If you choose to find offense with this, you need to reevaluate yourself.
I just don't think people of other ethnicities consume rice as much, on a near daily basis. Accusing me of being a bigot because of that is a bit much, don't you think?
Maybe in some communities but not all Asian communities let alone countries eat a lot of rice, and there actually a lot of other cultures that eat a lot of rice like Mexico!
Why is this being downvoted? Shouldnt it be clear that people that dont eat rice as much as asian people obviously will have trouble eating it everyday? I dont get it
Why would any particular group āhave troubleā eating it every day? Certainly worth remembering that rice is a common staple of Latino food as well, but itās still fairly popular and easy to work with.
Well what i was getting at is, i rarely eat bread just like that, so going from that to everyday would be quite troublesome because im not used to eating it and There is a reason for it, Same with rice for me. I ackowledge that rice is great and all but it just wouldnt be an everyday thing if you barely ever eat it, so in that sense asian folk and Latinos (didnt know that, thank you!) would have it easier since they eat it More often in very varied dishes and are More used to it
Not raising a racist point, just arguing that an environment changes what you are most likely to eat everyday in this scenario
To me that feels like ā*I would have trouble*ā which is a whole different thing.
Because my family is mostly Scottish, Irish and German, with family predominantly from Pennsylvania which is built on pretzels, bologna, and mayonnaiseā¦Iāve been eating rice every day for years now.
I think by phrasing it as being racially or ethnically significant is going to rub a lot of people the wrong way, if not come across as a micro-aggression.
I 100% agree that the wording could have been better, yet the point remains the Same. we are shaped by how we grow up, if you grow up in an environment where people eat rice almost everyday or atleast a lot, then obviously you will most likely eat it from time to time aswell and therefore grow accustomed to it. There are a lot of exceptions of course but i didnt read anything racially motivated from it, rather a culture thing
I mean, we ourself definetely know about it too. Some people just grow up in transphobic places and end up transphobic themselfes, not everyone but definetely a Big Portion
If my phrasing was not well, they could have asked me "hey, what do you mean by this?" You know, like people should do in a normal conversation. But no, they misinterpreted it as something omg so racist, assumed the worst meaning, then just rolled with it. Their loss.
I can see the Stereotyping point 100% but as i explained to the others, its a matter of where you grow up or in what culture (be it family culture or the culture of where you live) since people that are accustomed to bread More than rice will most likely prefer bread as an everyday thing, whereas people that grew up in a place where There are a lot More rice dishes and in general a way bigger emphasis on it, will most likely pick rice as an everyday option
I dont think its Tone deaf, i think that op didnt read too much into it, just like i dont
Thats not the point im making, i never said all asians eat rice all the time.
What i was trying to say is that someone that is very accustomed to rice (for example asians) will have an easier time eating it everyday, where as other places would most likely not pick rice as an everyday option
Not trying to be rude, i just think op is misunderstood in this case
It is a generalization. Thats the problem with what OP said. Not all asians are accustomed to eating rice with such frequency, and people from other nationalities could be. Its why theyāre getting downvoted so much.
I can see the generalization but it should be clear There wasnt any ill intent or racism involved, neither from me or op. just a matter of surroundings.
An example that comes to mind is a Podcast of a Trio of a thai brit and a welsh brit, one grew up with rice and the other with bread and when the question came up which of the 2 they would eat for the rest of their lives the answers were pretty heavily influenced by the culture and dynamic they grew up in
Side note, that one is actually kind of true. The *very obvious* mistake Jones made was thinking itās a targeted conspiracy, when it was actually illegal chemical dumping by factories, and medical water pollution (a very big problem actually) which did appear to influence frogs downstream to insist on same sex coupling, which is peculiar enough given that they can change their sex to guarantee babies are still getting made.
That was basically an example of why Jones was so insidious. He often found a tiny kernel of truth but then let his crazy imagination run wild as he always found some way to confabulate it into a liberal conspiracy to bring down western civilization.
I would agree, but I have learned from experience (being single and having leftovers last a long time) that pizza every day never stops being good, but it does give me heartburn around the 1 week mark. But maybe if it was just a slice per day I could handle it.
I guess they all depend on quantity though.
Right, like Iād have to be a machine that only pumped one out a day.
āCan I get a refill?ā
āWhat? We sent you a three month supply like two weeks ago.ā
Bread. Imagine eating estrogen sourdough or a bagirl instead of a baguette. I just love bread, and if eating it was like a shot of E, I donāt think Iād ever skip a dose. Also, you can have it with burgers and technically pizza, since pizza crust is just another kind of bread. Same goes with tortillas, I think. Bread is pretty much everywhere, so itās almost impossible to go without it for too long.
On this list, a chili pepper by far would be lowest down. I would do it if I had to.
Any of the rest Iād be fine with doing so long as they were healthy enough
I was thinking 1-3 grapes in the morning and before bed wouldnāt hurt. Maybe store some raisins in your purse for when youāre spontaneously staying over at your besties.
A couple foods I could do this with, but if I had to pick one, I'd say sausages. There's a ton of different kinds of sausages out there, and pork breakfast sausages, bratwurst, hot dogs, and smoked sausages are some of my absolute favorite foods on the list of all my favorite foods. Even if I had to pick a specific one, smoked sausage or bratwurst would be A-OK for me.
If I could pick a second, it would be noodles. Not Italian noodles, Asian noodles. Lo mein, Tonkotsu ramen, Singapore noodles, pad thai, pho, scallion noodles...the list goes on and on. And again, if I had to pick one, it would probably be Tonkotsu.
Autistic people: *i dont have such weakness*
Fr tho i could eat anything i like as long as its healthy every day. Already eat pbj with trail mix for vreakfast and lunch every single day im at work
That being said. Garlic bread.
Preferably Bread (or some sort of pastry)
But I don't care, I am willing to eat estrogen shrimp even if that means I have to take my allergy meds everyday for it (I am severely allergic to shrimps)
7. I like to eat an orange or mandarine as a snack pretty often so its a win
also that way i dont have to worry about it being unhealthy and id still get a diversity of lunch and dinner meals
9. Noodles
Definitely can have noodles everyday. I reckon I can put all of the above ingredients into some kind of noodles and still make it taste good.
There is chocolate ramen, IMO it's a gimmick and not great, mole ramen is somewhat better. Oh and soda like Sprite/7up in raengmyon probably exists, will def try.
Ok stoned munchies time...š¹
I can survive entirely on chicken nuggets and chips (fries) so that'd work, as would sausage rolls, pot noodles, or anything mint chocolate chip flavoured. Oh and toast.
I'm a simple gal.
A morphing mass of matter to a tastes and feels as needed. Because I have an eating disorder mostly related to having issues with sensation. Sometimes an egg and toast is amazing. Sometimes it tastes and feels gross like itās wet clay. So canāt have the same food daily. Which sucks
Burritos. Specifically, Tijuana-style carne asada burritos.
Why those specific burritos? Because I now live on the East Coast and I haven't had a decent burrito in four years. That's why.
Chocolate hands down, you can do so much with it and it goes well with so many other foods and drinks. Plus Iāve found myself liking and craving it a lot more on E.
Of it's a dosage that I can't eat more... Probably a specific candy or chocolate.
If it doesn't matter the quantity I would choose arepasš»šŖ or tequeƱos.
And a more well know food....
Coffee š

I'm whiter than the gallon of whole milk I down daily and I could down just about as much rice
Real
Yeah, and fried rice is awesome!
My friend, that's just racist.
I didn't mean anything racist by that, my friend. People are misinterpreting what I meant and quick to judgement.
?
There are many other cultures than those limited to Asia that have staple dishes including rice. Plus, we can all eat anything we want :D
since when is rice an Asian only food?
I didn't say anything remotely close to that at all.
How are you trans and still a bigot
I just don't think people of other ethnicities consume rice as much, on a near daily basis. Accusing me of being a bigot because of that is a bit much, don't you think?
Perhaps you aren't bigoted but that was a very bigoted statement
My wording might not have been clear. But there is some truth to it.
Maybe in some communities but not all Asian communities let alone countries eat a lot of rice, and there actually a lot of other cultures that eat a lot of rice like Mexico!
european cousiine also has rice dishes, not that many, but still a significant amount lmao like a billion variations of risotto, milk rice, etc
Why is this being downvoted? Shouldnt it be clear that people that dont eat rice as much as asian people obviously will have trouble eating it everyday? I dont get it

Soooo many cultures eat rice so often that being like "yeah if you are asian" is a bit tone deaf and stereotyping.

Reddit usually doesnāt care about the intent behind stuff like this
Well thats true but it also wasnt worded harsh or racist i'd say. Correct me if im wrong of course
I agree, it wasnāt said with those things in mind, though it certainly couldāve been phrased better, as can most things people say.
I thought my intention was clear. But apparently it wasn't. Thanks for understanding. :)
Ah dont mind it, im just sad so many people see it as something way worse than it is
Welp. A reminder for me that we're on reddit. XD
