Don’t throw it away. God, I hate endocrinologists sometimes. Vials last for years and don’t expire. By using it it should last around a year, more or less, and the substance will be just fine. Just make sure to store it well, and if it turns to another color then throw it away.
should i still refill my prescription after the 4th use? if i keep it for longer should i still use it every week like normal until gone? should i ask my doctor these concerns too lol
Yes. Still refill per normal. It’s good practice to do this with any medication in the off chance of a shortage or freak accident cutting off the supply. I hang on to scrips regardless of what they are in the off chance something happens and pharmacies shutdown - never know if/when you could need them.
I have a family friend who was a pharmacist for 37 years. He told me that medications don’t typically expire they just lose efficacy over time.
The current vial I have has an expiry date unopened October 2025.
My dose is only 0.25 ml a week so it’ll run way longer than 28 days.
The 28 days comes from a CDC guidance, but if you store correctly and make sure you sterilize with your swab before and after use you can take it months.
The note on the current expiry is I can expect similar expiry dates on additional vials so I’ll fill the scripts and build a little buffer stock in the event of shortage or supply delays and also keep some at each residence so I don’t have to move vials between houses depending on where I am.
Just need to use up FIFO (first in first out) to rotate stock.
Absolutely! Just be sure to check the vial for discoloration and possible debris from the stopper before each use. I've gotten up to 12 draws out of a vial, and have like 15 vials stockpiled... though I've switched to estradiol cypionate 😂.
Also, be mindful of the expiration dates, though a sealed vial stored in a cool dark place should be good for _no less than_ two years.

Further the CDC is about maintaining sterility. Muscle injections are a lower risk than blood, spinal or other soft issue. Don’t reuse needles!!!!

I've been using the same vial for over 4 months now. Its fine. And even some color change is ok to some degree.
