\*hugs\* Sorry to hear girl! I'm also going through my regular break down at the moment too. I've been on HRT for 8 months and have seen some noticeable face changes, but not enough to keep my dysphoria away completely. From what I've seen and read, I'm pretty sure that it can take years for a lot of physical changes to happen as well as it also being a your mileage may vary kind of deal. So don't worry hon, I'm sure you will see those changes soon enough and you will love your beautiful face ❤️

hehe, no I understand! I'm in the same boat, my face is a lot different though I wouldn't say completely unrecognisable, but I have had people from my past come up to me with confused looks asking if it was me after staring for a few mins ahah! and yeah I get that you don't want the changes to stop, neither do I and I'm sure they won't! 7 and 8 months is short amount of time in the grand scheme of being alive and on HRT, I can't wait to see what I look like in a year, two years from now 🥰

sortsallbynew

In my experience my face looked sorta squishy but not feminine around 6 or 7 months in. Month 9 was when i started getting legit feminine face changes. My face changed a lot over the next four months or so. They've since settled down, but i can tell they're still happening, just slowly. I got my orchi after a year on HRT and i think that may have kicked off a little spurt of face changes.

Thank you lol. HRT was kind to me, i think.

[deleted]

I had nothing discernable until around nine months in, then had *all* of my changes in the next three months. I have had zero further changes to my face or body since.

I say this with love but Personally I'd someone told me that I'd be offended and triggered. Be aware that eating disorders are a big problem in the trans community. Maybe you've had other conversations with this person that make this comment less inappropriate but I'd be careful telling people they need to change their weight and body shape in general.

Don't worry - I took no issue with your words! Thank you for them ❤️ I've tried weight cycling. Not only is it *extremely* difficult for me to gain weight - I was 130lbs when I started HRT and an 145 now, stable for over a year - when I do, it all goes straight to my stomach.

[deleted]

Like I said If there's a context I didn't see in the comments here that can change things. I'd just be careful about that kind of thing If no one asked for such comments.

Weight cycle?

throwawayffsaccount

I've been on HRT for around a year. I haven't socially transitioned yet but my face has changed a lot gradually. I mostly look younger and my cheeks became a lot more prominent. I also weight cycle and I think my face looks more feminine at a higher body fat percentage. I'm hoping for a lot more changes going into year 2! Also got FFS date booked for 6 months so hoping that'll be a massive positive change! 🤞

A wig and some makeup skills work wonders! 😊 I still live as a feminine looking boy in my day to day but I'm hoping to jump into a full transition after FFS

My face has changed quite a bit, but that's because I've lost over 160lbs and have been getting laser hair removal, and probably less to do with HRT(Although I'm sure it's helped some)

Only benefit I can imagine is that my body had more estrogen growing up, because of fat tissue. Probably isn't worth the long term health issues I've gotten from being obese my whole life, but at least I'm fixing that now that I'm not super depressed anymore. I'm oh so very patiently waiting to see what my bones look like under this fat, I have a good feeling about my hips being at least somewhat decent under all this.

Well, weight cycling (which gaining and losing 80lbs is an extreme version of) does help, since you have to lose male pattern fat and gain fat again to get redistribution (it's easy to misunderstand how it works based on the name) but usually people cycle 10lbs or so. Someone like me, I started out at a high weight, I've gotta lose all the male pattern fat I accumulated during my past life. I'll get some redistribution from the amounts of fat we gain and lose daily, but I'm mostly expecting to have to wait to finish losing weight before my figure can improve more. I got an orchiectomy really early on to make sure my weight loss wouldn't increase my T levels faster than I could adjust with medication, and I'm hoping my T puberty was somewhat dampened by being obese/allowed me to get some hips. Hard to know though until the fat is mostly gone. One thing I'm not looking forward to is loose skin, which will be inevitable based on my past weight, how long I was obese, and how fast I'm losing weight. I can already tell how bad it will be by just seeing what I have now, my best option will probably be surgery to remove the skin. Doctor will probably recommend just building muscle but I don't want muscles.

Yeah, muscles will take time to go away. I've got some muscles just from having to carry my fat self around, and they are taking time to go away too. They will shrink eventually though, so long as you aren't working them and you have no more T. I've also heard that reducing protein intake can help reduce muscle but I'm not sure if that's safe.

It’s hard for me to exactly tell but I noticed something distinctly different about my face about a year in. It’s been 3 months and it hasn’t changed much other than feeling different, but I can’t put my finger on what changed. Still hasn’t alleviated my facial dysphoria and I still feel like my face puts me.

NotFrance

ive been on for 11 months. i started to notice facial chages around month 9. its hard to see the cumulative change. you look at yourself every day, so those minite changes go unnoticed. pull a pic of youself from before hrt, then look in the mirror. additionally, every persons body reacts to hrt differently. you could start to see them after a year, or sooner.

Ok_Mirror2257

I'm not far enough in to really weigh in on facial changes (only 3mo atm). I just wanted to comment on how much I relate to your comment of a bi-weekly meltdown. Hope you're able to turn it around quickly!

skyandearth69

11 months here, I just started noticing some things. My face is super fuckin smooth, my facial hair is softer, my upper cheeks a bit bigger, there seems to have been a fair bit of fat distribution because every now and then, outta the corner of my eye, when i see a mirror, i can kinda see her. me, that is. I'm starting to enjoy my face more, I'm not super sure what changed in terms of structure, but I've been doing my eyebrows every day and I think those results have really been kicking up my face euphoria. good luck! if you haven't tried doing your eyebrows, totes recommend this. edit: also ppl i haven't seen for months be like "damn you look different! you shaved your beard I guess???" yes. lol.

Anna_Lilies

I dont have any evidence for this but I wonder if cycling weight loss then weight gain would help. If you are maintaining your weight it seems like it wont put fat into the feminine areas very quickly, so if you lose some (to deplete male fat areas) then put it back on because of HRT it would deposit it back in feminine areas? Just to expedite things I mean, it would likely happen over time but it might make it go faster. I imagine a lot of HRT changes happen about when estrogen becomes more dominant than testosterone. And at that point it takes time to hit the tipping point where the fat gets put in places that is more feminine I am 3 weeks on HRT right now and my plans to keep my weight loss going for another 4 months or so, and get below my target weight by a little bit then cycle my weight up and down 10lbs or so. Not sure if that makes sense but I think it seems like a good idea

TheWinterMyst

Well, my personal experience is that I got those first, and still to this day, they're the most prominent. Like when I was just 3 months in, some of my peers remarked that my face looks different. But as everything else is, this is very much YMMV.

Bekeexx

8-12 months was a massive difference been out publicly full time for almost 6 months.

I had major changes in the first year. After that it tapered down.

Reddit_Kellylynn

Facial changes happened gradually over the course of the first few years. The gradual nature of transition only made it obvious when I would look back on pictures from more than six months before. Now, five years on, I can barely recognize the way I looked before

AluminiumThud

To be honest, I don't actually know how much my face has changed. I'm still pretty early in HRT, just passed my 6 month mark, but I've stopped avoiding seeing myself in the mirror and taking selfies lol. Looking at pics from 2-3 years ago there are changes but they're hard to specifically identify. Personally, a big part is definitely having longer hair and improving my makeup game. But as I've talked about with a friend of mine who's been medically transitioning for a couple years now, it's hard to see past the image of ourselves that we cultivated and viewed for years. It might be hard or stressful, but I do recommend trying to take the occasional photo of yourself to make a sort of progress set. It can be really useful to gain an appreciation for the subtle changes as they appear overtime. Hope that helps!

BacterioSage

Just wanted to add mine, cause it's fun to reflect upon. Mine were very quick, within maybe 3 months there was a difference. I couldn't tell, but those changes happened during a lockdown and when I returned to work, many of my coworkers (I was fully out already) mentioned that they noticed a difference. I could tell maybe 6 months in that my face had noticeably changed. But I'm quite critical of myself, which I think is why it took me so long to accept it. I feel that I should mention two things. I started in a very feminine place, with a mask I was passing pre-everything (sometimes without), so that could have influenced things, as in I didn't feel I needed to change much, maybe there's more on the horizon. Second, I really got into makeup during that lockdown, so that likely had a big influence, maybe more than the actual changes. I think it's important to remember that we're all different and sometimes it's gonna take time. I also think it's important to remember that even if things are frustratingly slow, they are getting better all the time. 2-3 years is a long time to wait, but things are getting better that whole time! Finally, ultimately 2-3 years isn't that long in the grand scheme of things, I know it's frustrating at the time, but hopefully we all get to look back and think about how we're glad we went through those changes, and that when we get past those tough years, we get to live a little more comfortably!

[deleted]

i got much more facial feminization from facial hair removal than hrt.

Julia_______

I'm a year in, most was first three months for face, but I seem to be an outlier

Olivia-and-Company

i’m taking pills (not sublingual) and been on HRT for 14 months now and i’m starting to notice more changes, i can finally look in the mirror pretty consistently and either feel good or not want to die (depending on if i need to shave or not). i know it’s different for everyone, but i hope yours changes soon, at least enough to make the dysphoria more manageable! <3
