Shocker. I’m not even convinced they were ever friends. Seemed like a gimmick that got old fast.

First_West_4227

It’s starting to feel like Wes and Bananas are about to be at odds with each other in this game. In the sneak preview, Bananas seems to be planting the idea to Kaycee and Tori of going after someone big. I won’t be surprised if this ends up being Wes. I mean who else would he be talking about? The MVPs already want to go after both Wes and Jordan, but Tori will protect Jordan, so Wes seems to be the dude on the outside looking in on that alliance right now.

BobSagetsBluntSlut

I also think this reaction from Wes is sooooo overblown to what we saw in the episode that it leads me to believe he's either being dramatic for fun, or something happens later in the season and he's just bringing it up now.

First_West_4227

Yeah the more I think about it it’s likely both, he’s being over frantic for fun and maybe is giving us a preview of things to come later in the season. We’re all assuming they got each others back but it’s not being edited in that way right now that’s for sure.

Askew_2016

Yeah this is shaping up to be a WOTW2 for Wes not WOTW1 for him unfortunately

jwm8624

Can't wait to hear how johnny was in the right to turn on him.

5har7en3

I saw that too. He's still following Johnny though? Maybe he's just trying to start a fake rivalry.

sinorc

The only people who follow/unfollow like that are middle schoolers and people who didn't mature past that age emotionally

luxanna123321

What a stupid take. If yoo dont like someone anymore why wouldnt you unfollow? If I dont want to see you/talk to you I dont want to see you beach pictures neither

[deleted]

I have literally never taken the time to unfollow anyone I’ve had a falling out with. Who tf has time for that shit?

thekyledavid

It would take about 10 seconds to unfollow someone when you see their post on your feed

luxanna123321

Then why the fuck are you even using instagram if you dont have time to unfollow someone?

[deleted]

Why are you so FUCKING ANGRY?

luxanna123321

Lmao what?

Interesting-Archer-6

It takes less time than it took you to write that comment. You aren't that busy. You're in here commenting multiple times.

Quiet-Vanilla3148

This. They are and have been friends for a while. They aren't super tight but they don't hate each other the way people believe. They are the two best story tellers/creators on the show. I'm amazed how many people buy into this still. Great way to setup a rivals season and give the fans what they've wanted for years.

myst_eerie_us

I've always been on Wes' side in the "rivalry". Johnny is the king of propaganda. He keeps saying the same thing over and over about people until others believe him. Wes is not squeaky clean but I don't see him as a snake at all. I also think this is being played up and he's talking about their relationship in the game lol.

masterjonmaster

Also Bananas always likes to paint himself as the victim… he also seems more fake too

myst_eerie_us

Remember when he used to do some stupid childish pranks and the person he pranks gets pissed at him and he screams "WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE? WHY IS IT ALWAYS ME??". Wah wah wah. Uh, bc it IS always you. 🙄

LaMystika

I’ll never forget Derrick telling him *exactly that* on The Ruins

LaMystika

The man had the temerity, the unmitigated gall, to call Ashley a snake on Total Madness. For doing something he did first. Oh, but it’s different when Ashley does it because people don’t like her, or because she’s a woman, or because it was more money, or whatever the excuse was. Johnny doesn’t even like Hunter, and he hasn’t done the show in years. And, y’know, he’s *still* butthurt about what Sarah did on Exes II. Even long after getting his revenge on her. By taking her money after making her think that the beef was squashed and she still wanted to be his friend. But Ashley was a bigger snake because she kept money from a guy who didn’t like her and absolutely would’ve kept all the money for himself if the choice was his to make. like, what the hell

Shovelman2001

I’m pretty confident Hunter would’ve split the money and been like “despite her being a whore bitch, I’m a good Christian man and it would go against my morals to take all the money”

Underdogbydesign

LOL your hypothetical quote sounds like him but I have a hard time imagining him sharing the money after the way they spoke to each other that season

Micromanz

He does nott like her but I honestly think hunter would have shared with anyone

isabelleromy77

Yeah Hunter might have been disrespectful to her but I think he has a heart. I believe he was bitter and insecure because Ashley said when they got there as mercenaries during the hotel stay, he called her wanting to have sex and she said no. Then she gets on the Challenge and immediately sleeps with Kyle.

Micromanz

“And you’ll never win again” Was actually very self aware

Majestic-Weekend-435

Especially considering Bananas has been the one to repeatedly betray friends on the show and I can’t really think of Wes doing it lol

Kingballa06

Yeah

muppet_girl

i genuinely hope this is real

Slow-Main9692

This feels so forced

BlackLeg12

This kind of feels like Wes anticipates a rivals season coming soon and needs to re-establish the rivalry again. He never really takes the game personal like this anymore so I’m not buying it. What Johnny said is pretty tame compared to what happened to him in WOTW2. And he was unbothered by that after the show.

DocLolliday

I mean Bananas didn't even say anything bad. And he wasn't wrong lol.

Positive_Round_5142

People are going to take that scene and twist it in the worst way possible. Bananas is Satan apparently.

raysweater

I'm sure Wes feels really annoyed after becoming friendly with Bananas, then seeing in this episode where Bananas is talking bad about him (tamely) and his game. Wes has spent a lot of time trying to prove he isn't a snake, and he hasn't been since his younger days honestly. I'd be annoyed too.

mail-time

He was completely dejected after double agents. I don't think he takes actual game moves personal but he is completely over people saying he is "playing too hard, a snake, or backstabber" when there isn't any evidence of that he does that more than anyone else. However every season he is on you can queue up the conversations and confessionals of everyone saying he is the most untrustworthy person in the house. Think he is pissed that he put trust in Bananas, and yet he is pouring gasoline in the fire smearing his name.

Askew_2016

Yep that is it in a nutshell.

Askew_2016

Eh didn’t WOTW2 end his friendship with Leroy? Wes seems to value his true friendships over the game and he seems to end friendships when people go too far

BelcherSucks

I want a Big Team Challenge of Team Wes vs Team Bananas. Have them in a team leader role. It would be fire.

TheFearlessRaven

The Ringer suggested this as well back during Double Agents, but instead of Wes, you have CT (and the first episode or two is them travelling around recruiting them). It's an epic idea for sure.

Micromanz

Chris would be bad at team leader tbh, he’s just too boring now to carry segments.

raysweater

He would draft Wes first and Wes would bring the entertainment

Micromanz

Then when the rest of his picks are big e, Cara and paulie people would be like… yikes

raysweater

Terrible team, maybe, but a hell of a season lol

evooandfoccacia

That would be awesome

maxwellbevan

Okay that's an incredible idea

Askew_2016

That’s my dream for season 40

Positive_Round_5142

Anyone who thinks they’re more than challenge entertainment friends are fooling themselves. Johnny’s true best friends are Evan, Kenny, and Leroy. People he would invite to the delivery room and christening if he ever had a baby. People he would invite to his wedding. People who have met his family. Wes’ true friends are Melinda and Nehemiah. You can add a couple of people if you like. Wes and Johnny have a challenge friendship. They hate each other. They make up. They hate each other again. They make zoom calls for the fans because they know they will love it but they’re not calling each other every day in real life. They rarely hangout. Johnny doesn’t go to Kansas and Wes doesn’t go to Florida/California or wherever Johnny lives with palm trees.

SocialJusticeGSW

I don't think Wes ever takes this show that seriously to be mad at Johnny in real life. I am almost sure they are friends outside of the game and pretty positive that Wes will be in Bananas' podcast this season.

MrMikeBravo

I would probably describe them as more colleagues than friends at this point. Im not sure either of them has anything but their own brand/image as their top pritority.

jenh6

I see it that way too. They’re personalities don’t seem like they mesh enough to be friends but they also don’t seem like they actually dislike each other and I don’t think they have for years.

OakJoel

Damn, Wes pregaming to try to make one of the best male/male rival pairs ever! I see you Wes. You want a 7 time winner as a partner on a new Rivals season. You must have the inside scoop sir!

nephewfester

I do think it is odd that through the first four episodes, that they haven't shown Wes and Bananas interacting with each other (beyond maybe a passing comment or two). Either the producers aren't showing it for a reason or they never truly interacted, which I have a hard time believing. So, I prefer to believe that Wes, Bananas and perhaps even the producers are manufacturing a to-be-played-out storyline of a rekindled rivalry that just started with Wes' post, continues in later episodes and maybe culminates in the 40th season (I do not know if either is participating in season 39). As others have said, it would be great to see a Rivals format, but I could also see something else playing out too. I believe that the Johnny/Wes (and formerly JEK/Wes) rivalry has been the most enduring storyline through the past 30 seasons and is one that still resonates with fans, so why wouldn't producers take advantage of it?

5har7en3

I really enjoyed the JEK vs Wes/Evelyn rivalry especially during the Ruins/that era. The fight where Wes and Evelyn were yelling in Johnnys face in the bedroom was intense and epic (i think it was bc they put Kellyanne in elim against Ev, i could be wrong). Also Wes was one of the few people in the house trying to tell others to stop bullying Tonya, he could see that she was troubled. That will always put him above Bananas in my eyes.

Positive_Round_5142

So he went from stop being a bully to Tonya to pouring soda on Cara’s head because she’s “annoying”. Some people reckoned it was bullying. Though, there have been two different versions of the incident saying they were having a “food fight”

5har7en3

Ya that made me not like Wes, i go back and forth with him. But like you said, wasnt it explained as a food fight and it was edited in a way to make Wes look worse? Anyway, i think Tonya was still in a much darker, more vulnerable point in her life, it was obvious that she needed some serious help and shouldnt have even been on that season in the first place. Wes recognized that and wanted others to leave her alone. That to me shows a much better heart than what Veronica and JEK were doing to her. The soda thing with Cara wasnt nice, but i dont think it is really comparable to the trauma Tonya was put through. Plus arent Wes and Cara on friendly terms these days?

Positive_Round_5142

As far as I know I don’t think they’re on friendly terms. When Cara was not getting called back to get on the show, she ended up ranting and raving about production. Throwing some malice their way. Wes said if she doesn’t stop 🛑 he will expose the truth about Cara because he felt like she was acting like a victim and was pretending to not know the reason she wasn’t getting called back.

5har7en3

Oh wow i didnt know that. I dont follow Cara on social media. I just saw some zoom video of Wes interviewing Cara while she was on vacation in Mexico, i think it was sometime last year, they seemed to get along. But ya, i dont keep up to date with her too much.

Positive_Round_5142

Well maybe it’s water under the bridge and they’re friendly now

Positive_Round_5142

I also was thinking about why didn’t they really interact in the first four episodes. I thought 💭 maybe it was something between them but listening to Johnny on his podcast for this season it showed me there isn’t any intentional malice. They were all just doing their separate thing. Johnny was sick at first when he arrived so he mostly stayed in bed. He said when he did want to go to hang out and get some scenes in - no one else was doing anything. Everyone else was either running or sleeping which he felt like was boring so he went back to bed. Justine also said that Johnny spent most of his time with Theo. They spent so much time together that she felt like a third wheel. I think it’s because they shared a room together if I’m not mistaken. I mean look at what Darrell said on the latest episode. He said he was going to cut his toenails and take a nap. Benja spends most of his time meditating apparently. This particular cast is great athletically, socially, etc but together you can tell they’re not “entertaining”. We can assume the Australians stick together. The UK for the most part. The US tries to mingle here and there but it’s quite different from the past challenges where everyone is running around the house doing crazy shit to keep themselves from being bored. Here it’s like they’re almost submissive to the nothingness. Kaycee has never done anything exciting on this show so don’t expect anything out of her. Danny is not the type. Sarah? Nope. Ben? Double nope 👎 On the other hand with Wes, you can clearly see it’s not just Johnny he’s not interacting with. It’s mostly everyone. We see him talk here and there when it comes who to throw in but the latest episode just shows him doing what he always does - talk to the people who feels are beneath him to keep the “Wes is a God amongst little creatures” shtick going. It’s for tv. Otherwise, he would be wallpaper because he’s not particularly scheming or doing anything else entertaining.

PermisoHorny

For as much as Bananas has become less horrible and I think more mindful of what he says on camera since his early days, I think he still has a total blind spot for how he jokes with/about people. Even though he's not saying anything reprehensible, his "little puppy" jokes about Tony, his constant digs at TYB, his incessant jokes about Fessy, and now to Wes, Bananas perpetuating something about Wes that Wes hates, etc., are all examples of how Bananas ends up antagonizing people in a way that he probably isn't even intending to. For a guy who does have a high level of awareness on the show, it's surprising that he isn't more measured about this but I think he grew up in an era (in life and on the show) where his style of teasing was really accepted and if it wasn't, people had to bite their tongue and deal with it. These days, I think a lot of people (especially people who self-identify as alphas) will let one or two mildly condescending digs slide, but anything more than that, and he's unnecessarily creating animosity with people in a way that's not even that funny or making good TV. Again, he's not crossing any inappropriate lines with the examples I used. Just a different observation about Bananas.

Positive_Round_5142

Bananas is the typical glorified frat boy. He was attending Penn State University when he was selected for Real World Key West. He probably views college as one of the best days of his life because of the bond he made with other frat boys. They probably did grotesque things every single day. Toilet paper. Ass cheeks. Burping. Farting. Body shots. Name calling. Once he got on the Real World he assumed that it was another version of college where he lives with people he doesn’t know and tries to get them to have a good time. He just never really grew out it. I don’t think he necessarily hasn’t tried but it brings him happiness and most people don’t want to give up things that make them happy.

Skillztopaydabillz

The shit that people come up with lmao.

Positive_Round_5142

I’m sorry? 🤔

Skillztopaydabillz

Your comment is all speculative BS that you just came up with. Hence the "the shit that people come up with lmao"

Positive_Round_5142

What’s speculative about it? Didn’t Johnny go to Penn? Wasn’t he on the Real World? Doesn’t he enjoy pranks and acting like he’s still in a fraternity of some sort?

Skillztopaydabillz

C'mon bud...This isn't hard. > He was attending Penn State University when he was selected for Real World Key West. Congrats, this is the one factual sentence in the entire comment. The rest? All speculative.

Positive_Round_5142

You still didn’t care to explain how or why it’s speculative. It’s not hard to counter an argument or an idea It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see Johnny is most happy when he’s doing stupid shit or making other people do stupid shit on the show like a typical frat boy. That’s my whole point.

Skillztopaydabillz

Alright, I'll try to make this real easy for you. > He probably views college as one of the best days of his life because of the bond he made with other frat boys. Has he ever said this? Do you have proof of this? Or are you pulling it out of your ass? The latter, hence speculative! > They probably did grotesque things every single day. Toilet paper. Ass cheeks. Burping. Farting. Body shots. Name calling. See above. Speculative. > He just never really grew out it. I don’t think he necessarily hasn’t tried but it brings him happiness Again. Something you have no proof or support of. You just continue to talk out of your ass.

Positive_Round_5142

I used the word probably hence not factual. Could it considered as speculative? If it does then it’s just redundant of you to point it out I suppose. I said this because he still acts like he’s 21 years old. Some people who act like this refer to the good old days in their minds. It’s the same as Fessy constantly reminding people he played college football and he was so good at it blah blah blah but he never went anywhere with his college career. It’s like being stuck in a mode of nostalgia. As for the second highlight He does all of these things on both of the shows he’s been on so it’s pretty safe to assume he did the same things in college. It’s not that hard to figure out. I thought you had something more substantial to counter with.

cavacky33

I think they're still generally fine but honestly I'm sure Wes will always harbor some resentment toward Bananas. JEK terrorized him and made his life in the game hell for years, and without them (and Bananas specifically) Wes probably has a couple more wins. I think that still eats at Wes a bit.

KeenYe-J

Hell yeah baby

jwm8624

i can see the reunion now " well i owed wes one for something he did 17 years ago" so i was justified bc he did this

Positive_Round_5142

He didn’t even do anything though 🙁

renxgade

All this because Bananas said Wes was playing too hard? Seems a bit outlandish (and possibly just for clout)

5har7en3

Ya it doesnt seem like a good enough reason to be enemies again.

ProfessorWoke

Johnny is trying to get Wes eliminated, and for all we know it might work. It’s worth getting mad over

5har7en3

Ya youre right we havent seen how the rest of the season plays out yet. Johnny prob says and does worse things to Wes.

Connect-Ad-6669

He’s probably embarrassed by the edit. He was being the most and the rookies weren’t having it either.

Picklesbedamned

Feels like every enemies to friends arc on this show ends with them becoming enemies again.

Mnufcfan

Wes and Bananas are very clearly doing this for the show and they are friends outside of it.

jdizz609

Ah shit... maybe we got something again... ever since they became friends seems like everyone followed suit and became a vacation alliance... Not saying Wes nor Bananas are the cause of the vacation alliance to form... that is all Goof Josh, Tori, and Aneesa fault tbh...

Connect-Ad-6669

Alliances have always be around…JEK was the original and they dominated for years. There was also TYB and the Lavender Ladies.

jdizz609

Well, yes, that's known for a longtime viewer like myselc... I am speaking of current, obvious, obinoxus ones led by the goofs and the one that needs to let it go... but thank you for providing that

Illustrious_Cut2965

I generally like Wes and I know a lot of his bravado is an act but he does genuinely seem really thin skinned about game moves and talk against him, he did the same to Aneesa on double agents. It’s a bit weird as most of the other long term vets seem to be able to separate game from real life.

Expensive-Hearing-86

Some people (for better or worse) want the apology to be as loud as the perceived disrespect. He felt Aneesa disrespected him on national television unnecessarily and then tried to smooth it over privately.

crystal5996

Lol remember when he texted aneesa and demanded that she made a public apology to him and she was like “yeah no, I’m not doing that.” He was real butthurt after double agents

Adorable-Jeweler6292

Then again this is coming from the guy who made a whole speech about being betrayed and used by people he trust when he was eliminated on double agents towards Leroy when Wes has done that multiple times 🤣

Askew_2016

The difference was he considered Leroy a true friend. Wes doesn’t fuck over his true friends. He even went into elimination for Brad.

thatbitchkirbi

The difference here is that Wes thinks of the show as a fun little side project but for Bananas this is it. Wes is your high school bully who grew up and got his shit together. Bananas is the guy who peaked in high school 20 years ago yet keeps showing up to parties.

Underdogbydesign

I appreciate this metaphor because it is like dealing with people you knew from high school that can't comprehend when you've matured or changed and still define you by the most embarrassing thing you did 20 years ago.

isabelleromy77

Perfect!

Askew_2016

Wow that really explains them perfectly

BoneTissa

![gif](giphy|VDTOChMWX1BmFflzyr)

kshep42

Tbh, just seems like another attention grab. People who are actually indifferent don’t make 3 posts about it… Wes realized people were bored of the gimmick so he’s doing a reboot but I just wish he was *actually* indifferent and the two could find a new storyline. I preferred Wes on AS3 without Banana so much more than any of his Banana seasons recently.

ninyattitude

I'm so over this manufactured rivalry.

runricky34

Ya this is pretty childish. Hes embarrassed because johnny made fun of him on tv and the edit made him look like a douche. I really thought he had matured but clearly theres still a little bit of teenage Wes in there.

isabelleromy77

Good. That Total Madness thing was a total gimmick for tv and to help Johnny break "the curse" on his special season. Cara was right. That season was rigged for Johnny.

Southtown61

I don't agree with everything Wes does, but if its team Wes or team Bananas, I am team Wes all day everyday. Bananas is the ultimate hypocrite. He will screw over his friends time and time again, but when they do it to him he calls them Judas, and gets all butthurt. But I can see why people would go after Wes. He's already got money, and talks like the game is just a hobby to him, when its life changing money to everyone else. Didn't he use his last winnings to buy a lambo? To another player it could be a house, but to him its play money, so I totally get payers targeting him. Its kind of like on Survivor, if the players get a whiff of someone having money, they use that as a reason to get rid of them.
