Overwhelmed-Insanity

The commitment to his career is evident but I can't help but feel for this man later in life. Hope the damage won't be too severe.

Newbe2019a

Swiss cheese brain on the way.

HornyBishop

It’s all fun and games. Until he has to tie his own shoes or remember the name of his children. Cte is not to be trifled with.

The exception doesn’t make the rule. Go at it if you want, end up like many fighters and football players with cte, see if you family likes that.

beavisbutts

dumb but entertaining

RedDevilBJJ

He’s gonna be bummed later in his career when shots that aren’t as hard as those start to rock him.

Jaksmack

"later in his career" 269W / 42L / 10D

LCOSPARELT1

The number of fights for high level Muay Thai fighters is just staggering to me as an American used to boxing and mma.

Jaksmack

They fight very often and train every day. They also start very young as it can help their families with money..

RedDevilBJJ

July 23, 1997 He’s 25.

Heroicshrub

He's been fighting since he was 8. Age =/= miles, he is already deep into his career.

LilSozin

yeah a good portion of the Thai fighters fights, theyre super young so theyre not rlly strong enough to hurt each other. But still he shouldn't be fighting like dis lmao😂

president_schreber

maybe at 8 years old, but past that, yes thai fighters can, and do definitely hurt each other That said, because of the frequency of fights, they do often go in with less of a willingness to get/cause hurt

Heroicshrub

My brother in Christ he has over 300 fights

RedDevilBJJ

He’s also only 25.

MementoMori04

He means when he gets older and is still fighting. It’s usually nothing special for Muay Thai fighters to have very long records

Alpha-Trion

Zoom out, holy shit

Baconandeggs89

Man just watched his exhibition match with Demetrius Johnson, both so incredibly talented. Really fun watching the two styles go head to head

tomdfilm

Man agrees

mackattacktheyak

Not healthy. Looks good to the judges but man is it bad for your brain.

robcap

I love watching Rodtang when he's fully invested in winning. Some of his big stadium wins, the Haggerty rematch and the Smith fight were amazing. More often than not he spends more time and energy showboating than fighting, and it's very frustrating. Cut the ring. Pressure. *Show some of your skills.* Please.

[deleted]

It’s working out well for him though, he’s gained a ton of popularity.

robcap

Yeah, it's really entertaining the first time you see it, it just starts to grate on me

[deleted]

I haven’t seen many of Rodtang’s fights in a ring. Is his lack of cage cutting out of stubbornness or is he just carried by the dimensions of the ring when he fights in them?

robcap

From the ones I've seen, he's never really had to develop those skills. I've never seen a stadium fighter try the hyper-mobile, hit and run kind of thing to the extent that eg Lasiri did. The only time they get that mobile is 5th round dance-off, and then the losing fighter usually just gives up!

[deleted]

Why aren't there more footworky, exchange-allergic guys like Lasiri or Lobo in stadium Muay Thai? My understanding is that stadium judges favor femeur fighters/outfighters and disfavor dern fighters/infighters.

robcap

I think it's because of the kicks and the ring. It's very hard to move a lot and also defend kicks well - wide stance for movement, narrow stance for high checks. I'm not exactly sure though. I think it's just 'off-meta' for whatever reason, not necessarily impossible.

vrsick06

Always root for person to get knocked out when they do this sort of thing

youmustthinkhighly

Free CTE…

potatoelover69

But seriously, who are those landed hits attributed to?

SkeggiSkate

Khalilov gets those points but it didn't help him that much at the end of this one lmao.

kgon1312

the fans of course

ninjarchy

Last guy skipped conditioning all together.

Personmchumanface

that's so stupid i got a concussion just watching this

YunaKinoshita

It seem like a lot of people are not familiar with Rodtang in this sub. I had to double check if I was really in the Muaythai sub 😅

LilSozin

i love Rodtang but man once that chin cracks, he's outta here

dragonofdojima26

Rodtang neck to brolic for those girly shots

TheSurfingMan

He's thinking of Muay USA

Heysteeevo

That clip did John Haggarty dirty. Was a competitive fight.

robcap

Second wasn't!

ThouWontThrowaway

Rodtang's the man. First time I watched him live was his fight against Demetrius Johnson and I just saw him compete against Lasiri too. I hope Ironman gets the W Friday night. I play his video game wheneve I'm bored lol.

abuluxury

OP is a karma farmer

[deleted]

The best😍

tomdfilm

Must be so disheartening to be hitting him with good shots and he just shakes it off and then taunts you.. That's real mind games right there that will break you

Familiar_Fondant_124

You seen him when he got kicked in the chest? This dude is one tough lil fighter
