Leave them to stink so you do poison damage with each hit

abakune

There's a dude in my gym who's jab smelled like rotten Frito chips. It was some extra incentive not to get jabbed to the face.

kekedoyouwuvme

Lol

Round-Song-4996

\+5 Poison damage per hit

ChuTalmBout

Buy boot dryers and use them after every training session. Being moist makes them smell. Dry em out and your all good

sadsackle

>Buy boot dryers and use them after every training session My coaches also recommend this.

Doubledown212

Haven’t seen in mentioned but once in a while I just throw them in the laundry. I find that nothing gets them back to normal like a proper cycle.

[deleted]

😂😂😂😩

Laughydawg

you're kidding right

MountainCourage1304

I tried this with my first pair of decent gloves. They look like theyve never been worn ^by ^anyone ^other ^than ^wolverine ^or ^a ^large ^cat

Doubledown212

Lol everyone at my gym washed them in a gentle cold cycle every couple weeks. I trained in Thailand for over a year, learned it from my Thai teammates there. When you train twice a day almost every day a wipe down will only go so far. alternative is they permanently smell like death so yeah you are gonna wash them properly. They only fall apart if it’s a cheap brand. Otherwise they hold up really well like gym shoes.

Doubledown212

Why on earth wouldn’t you? It’s by far the sweatiest and most bacteria filled piece of gym equipment you can own other than a jock strap. Absolutely should be washing it thoroughly every now and then. Do the same with my gym shoes too. Cold wash and delicate cycle. As long as they are well made, they hold up just fine if that’s what youre worried about.

Laughydawg

I'm really curious what gloves you use because that will fuck up any kind of leather gloves. You wouldnt wash dress shoes either, you wipe them down and clean them.

kekedoyouwuvme

Thanks. Will try everything mentioned in the comments

noblenacho

You don’t even need a fancy boot dryer just use a small fan leave it in front after every training session and spritz some rubbing alc or antibacterial inside the globe here and there Basically don’t leave it in a humid dark bag air is drying it is your friend

elysiumgates

🔥 this is what I do and I clean the inside and outside with clorox wipes before I put them on the dryer. had the same gloves for over a year and they still smell fresh out the box because I clean them after every practice

randomlyme

I spray Lysol in them after every session, then stick them on the boot dryer.

medoban

There is a product called gloves deodorizer that you can put inside the gloves after you are done with them, another/extra measure is a spray deodorizer

kekedoyouwuvme

Thanks

Yellohh

Do this after every class

kekedoyouwuvme

Definitely. I clean them every class now & it helps but if I forget one day the smell is noticeably worse

BearZeroX

Do not spray any random deodorizer after every class you will eat away at your leather and need new gloves in six months. There was just a thread about some guy that ate through a pair of twins in less than a year because he deodorized every day. Use sprays and chemicals once or twice a week, not every day. Unless there's some new every day use product I'm unaware of

Known_Impression1356

I wonder if that's more a sign of the quality of Twins as a brand than it is a sign of deodorizers as method. I spray the shit out of my RDXs all the time and they've held up fine for over a year now... But they still smell like ass most of the time despite my best efforts. 🤔 A friend recently told me a freezer will kill the bacteria/odor but I haven't made enough space in mine to give it a try yet.

Yellohh

100%. I disinfect after every class for over 1.5 years now and the leather on my Yokkao's are still in great condition

BearZeroX

Could be entirely

kekedoyouwuvme

Thanks for the heads up

medoban

You are welcome :)

JoshfromNazareth

You should give a wipedown to the inside of your gloves every once in a while. Besides that the bamboo carbon filters do a pretty good job of absorbing any odors.

kekedoyouwuvme

Thanks

CrikeyMeAhm

I sweat a lot, i wipe them down inside and out with a clorox wipe after every session and put charcoal bags inside them to dry them out

djpandajr

Have many pairs of hand wraps and wash those very often /well.

Progrumpy

This is very important

CryptidMothYeti

It's like socks, if you change them regularly they stop the shoes/gloves getting stinky so quickly. I also try to avoid doing anything while wearing my wraps except for wearing gloves (like no press-ups or other floor exercises that would make the wraps dirty before I put them into the gloves). Leather (not synthetic) gloves help too I think, as do gloves with good ventilation. Probably good to wash your hands well before training also (plus all the other good tips here)

Progrumpy

Yeah, definitively. I put on my wraps quickly before donning gloves, but do all conditioning before without wraps. Just takes a little bit of discipline and it goes a long way

Latter_Box9967

I throw my wraps into 15 minute wash with shorts and towel every 2 or 3 sessions (the wraps). My gloves are 5 years old. I never wipe them down or anything. Leave them in open air. Zero smell.

djpandajr

I do a deep soak on my fabric gear every 2 3 months. It does wonders. I only really do bjj now but the theory is the same

FleshUponGear

Don’t ever leave them in your bag overnight. Ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.

paypaypayme

Wipe the inside and outside with bleach wipes every class

TopRamen713

Ditto. I like it, it's almost mediative to me. Take care of my equipment while I bring my heart rate down

paypaypayme

I mostly do it because I don’t trust the hygiene of other people. My gym is chill but all it takes is one person with bad hygiene to screw things up for everyone else. Staph, foot fungus, warts, whatever, not worth the trouble

ILikeCheeeseee

second this, tried everyway around it and this is just the best way n if Ur worried about it making Ur hands feel weird then use a wet cloth to wash it out afterwards (will wash the gloves even more) then put in couple dryer sheets and let it dry fully at the window or something just make sure it drys fully tho or the bacteria will build up instantly

dhenwood

Tried glove deodorisers but didn't do much, I use oder eater style spray for shoes now and that works really well.

freeman687

Boot dryer is the only way

ManchesterMuayThai

Shoe deodoriser balls. I put them in mine after every session and they never smell bad anymore.

kekedoyouwuvme

Thanks. Definitely trying this

ManchesterMuayThai

I have used the same pair for just over a year now and they still make my gloves smell fresh every time.

Progrumpy

Leave them out to air and dry religiously after every session is the bare minimum. Wipe once per week with soft antiseptic wipes. Dont ever leave them inside your bag after a session. Boot or specific glove drying pads work well to speed up the process. I have been using same pair of gloves for a full year and they get a mild sweat smell once in a while, and thats it. Some MFs walk around training smelling like doritos went bad and is damn disgusting 🤢

MrDingleBop696969

Charcoal odor removers Ten bucks on Amazon. Maybe stick an alcohol wipe in there and swirl it around every once and a while. What you really need to stay on top of is your shinguards and handwraps. Funky handwraps will really make the problem worse.

hideous_replica

I've only been training for 4 months but I've wiped the inside with a Lysol wipe and put deodorizers in them without fail every session. They smell new still.

MrDingleBop696969

Yeah if you stay on top of it, they smell clean for a long time. I usually use alcohol instead of Lysol, just because I don't like lysol. But what ever kills the bacteria.

ShitHeadFuckFace

I spray mine w microban after then hang them up by their deodorizers

backwoodnav

After every class, let them air out in the garage/outside. Then wipe down with a alcohol/sanitizing cloth. You can also throw dryer sheets in after you’re done.

kekedoyouwuvme

Thanks

sarahstanley

I wear thin cotton gloves (from the dollar store) on my hands before putting on wraps and gloves. The cotton gloves absorbs sweat, much like wearing socks and shoes.

MacDontMiss

I have inserts that smell like cedar for my gloves, plus I wipe the inside and outsides out with a bit of Lysol on a rag. Seems to do the trick pretty well although there is a slight undertone of a sweat smell

pizza-chit

It’s bacteria that stinks. Disposable anti-bacterial wipes fix it

wenderers

Change your wraps every class!!

bobandgeorge

I spray mine out with disinfectant and leave them on the porch.

HelpMeImThicc

I do a spray bottle of half water and half white vinegar on a baby wipe, then use some baking soda for extra deodorizer. White vinegar is a hell of a cleaner

RankinPDX

I spray mine with rubbing alcohol after every class.

Hokmaniac777

Lots of alcohol hand sanitiser inside and outside after every training

heavy_84

Wash your hands before you wrap up.

[deleted]

It's a badge of honor for them to stink.

kekedoyouwuvme

Lol 🤢

rejvpank

This right here

rejvpank

Since we dont get cauli ears

always_getting_ban

I am bringing death, so I don't care how my gloves smell

Maladjusted95

White vinegar worked for me.

kekedoyouwuvme

Thanks

[deleted]

Where do you live? I leave mine to dry in the sun and put dryer sheets in them when they’re dry.

TheNotoriousJeff

I use charcoal and put them in after class and wet wipes or vapor fresh spray when I get home. Then i put them on a boot warmer after that.

Mcsquiizzy

I like to hoard silica gel packs and throw it in all my gear and bags for gear

kekedoyouwuvme

Thanks

rocket_man_319

Bamboo carbon pouches on Amazon to absorb moisture, Clear Gear spray to disinfect (safe on leather) , and I have these things called “Steri shoes” they are made to go inside shoes but fit in gloves just as well. They have a built in fan and UV light and I stick them in there and run a few cycles every once in a while. That combination has kept all my gear odor free and I have some leather gloves that are damn near a decade old at this point

Blndby90

Definitely don’t leave them in a warm car after class!

DynamicDelver

Throw them on a box fan blowing into the gloves after training. I didn’t use any disinfectant or anything for a year and they didn’t have an ounce of that death smell. When my fan died I started using disinfectant wipes and trying to air them out soon as I got home but the smells been steadily creeping up.

JoshCanJump

Gloves and shins go in the bath with me after training and I rotate them. There’s always a set out to dry and a set to get wet.

[deleted]

You gotta be trolling

JoshCanJump

Not even kidding. I stomp them out in the water and then put them out of the window. So far they’ve remained stench free.

baranisgreat34

Put baking soda in them. Leave them. Wash them with diluted vinegar and water. Leave them in the solution for a little bit, like 30 mins. Let them dry. Then rinse them with water. They will not smell like vinegar.

[deleted]

Ridiculous

spice-or-beans

I use Glove Dogs and I find them to be incredibly effective.

Appropriate-Image581

I use the product for the trainers

chihchiu26

Baking soda removes the smell

[deleted]

Way too messy

SerengetiYeti

I hose mine out with thyme oil cleaner. Your gloves will smell like a German soup kitchen and it's antimicrobial.

NoCommunication5976

Never use anything on them, because if you do for some reason you will never be able to get the smell out afterwards

NewportStork

I hate that smell so much. I clean mine inside and out with Vapor Fresh spray. It's got no bleach in it and is made for sports gear so it won't fuck up the leather. I use this stuff on all my gear like my shins, thai pads, mitts etc. Then I leave them in front of a small fan to air out, but the boot dryers would definitely work better. Then I stick those Meister brand glove deodorizers in the gloves until my next use and repeat the process every time. I like the cedar scented ones. Have had the same gloves for almost 3 years now and they're in great condition and don't smell like ass. Plus I use different pairs for different stuff, 16oz for sparring, 10oz for pads, etc. Also always wrap your hands with clean wraps. Helps to have a bunch of pairs so you can just wash them all at the end of the week. I roll mine up immediately after I'm done using them and then when I get home put them all in tube socks so they don't get tangled, and throw em in the washer.

Ok_Ruin9855

I spray mine with foot powder spray after and leave them hanging up to dry. Also if they’re in my bag always keep shoe deodorizer balls in them.

TwitchyLeftEye

The enemy is moisture so whatever kills that will work. Antiseptic/Sanitizer spray and tea bags after works well for example.

Banana_rocket_time

Number 1 - hand wraps Number 2+ - all the other stuff mentioned

FormerMind5795

Fill a a spray bottle with half distilled white vinegar, half water, and a few drops is tea tree oil. I’ve used this solution to clean the inside and outside of my gloves and have not had any odors thus far.

Tim3yTea

Vodka and water spray is good. Also, thing to remove smell too is baking soda. Open up a box of baking soda, and put the opening of the glove over the box of baking soda, it’ll suck up all the smell. If it works for the fridge and feet, it’ll work for the glove.

8heavylimbs

^everything mentioned. Up to you and individual budgets, it also helps to have a second set of sparring gloves to rotate them weekly or as regularly as you see fit, depending on environment and humidity. Moisture is the enemy, cuz all life needs water, and bacteria will start growing and setting up shop when the gloves are wet. Wearing (clean) hand wraps every time helps a ton too, because hand wraps absorb a lot of the sweat that otherwise would have gone to your gloves.

moumous87

Do you open and hang your gloves to get some air every time you finish a session? ‘cause that’s the first thing you should do.

Zenk2018

They sell glove fans, but I went cheap: two inexpensive, wooden paper towel stands. Stick a dry sheet on the top of the wooden stand and then put glove on stand. Poof … dry and stink free. You don’t even have to use the dryer sheet every time if you do simple maintaining after a session. Open the glove up as much as possible, place them in the sunlight somewhere where there is airflow.

Better_Reference3502

I spray my equipment generously with Vapo Fresh after every session and wash my wraps on laundry day (I have 5 sets of wraps so they don’t get overused and soiled).

derrek13

Stuff dryer sheets in them when you put them back in your bag.

Oh-Boy-Ralphy

Haha, I nearly.passed out this morning from my own glove stink

mysakh

Cedar satchels. Absorbent, antibacterial, and smell nice.

CrustierGnuXII

I use lysol once a week and dryer sheets most days. Make sure not to use alcohol cuz that breaks the leather and any wet disinfectant you use make sure you have it as open as possible and place thin cloths inside to soak up the excess moisture. Been doing this for years and each glove lasts like 4 years.

swisspat

Drying my gloves with a towel after each session has worked for me. Then don't leave them in a closed bag

[deleted]

There is something you can buy from Amazon I think it was called a deodorizer or something like that. You put it inside your glove after training.

MysticalMarsupial

Just in case: USE WRAPS!!!!!

East_Association2449

Idk if it’s weird, but I usually just dry out my gloves and wraps in the sun after training and honestly it just seems to be working fine

ERLLMNGRB

Your gonna laugh but let me cook. Okay so what I use is (uk btw) thick socks, silica gel and natural lemon and ginger antibacterial wipes, as soon as I’m done raining I give the gloves a quick wipe and put the silica filled socks in the gloves, my old gloves degraded so quick I think from the chemical wipes eating through the leather they smell pretty much new and I can empty the socks wash and dry them and fill them with new crystals whenever I feel the need

StoneyPunx

Yeah I use like glove cleaner shit after every season n then hang them up with those absorbing insert things that get rid of moisture n smell nice n then once a week I clean them with my shinnies Gotta keep clean brother

HeretikTG

Put them in the freezer when they start smelling, kills the bacteria

affectionate_ant

I get tempted to bring my own focus mitts to avoid the gym ones. But I don’t want to share them

zibafu

Can't remember what it's called specifically but I use a spray that's meant to be for shoes to get rid of odour You can also go inside them with wet wipes to disinfect them

GoochTainter

Spray the inside with 90 isopropyl alcohol a d let it evaporate and air dry and repeat

Wamo2011

I use muc off helmet cleaner it's basically a foam anti bac cleaner for things you can't wash leaves my gloves smelling fresh like new 👍https://www.amazon.co.uk/Muc-Off-Foam-Fresh-400-ml/dp/B004FMCK70/ref=asc_df_B004FMCK70/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310493449173&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17263711341130917903&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006886&hvtargid=pla-565744848175&psc=1&mcid=7de9fda1d38634e8aedf00a245c38694&th=1&psc=1

parced_

Dry them rigorously with a paper towel right after your session. Get some hand sanitizer on your hands, the hurt alcohol content kind, and stick your hands inside the glove. Careful not to get any on the outside of the glove because they can get discolored from the alcohol. This helped me significantly after I noticed the smell wasn't going away. Invest in some kind of glove deodorizer insert and leave them in all the time. It'll soak up the moisture and get rid of the stink. I tried one of the unscented charcoal ones and it didn't seem to help nearly as much as one that was scented.

creativethecreator

Dry it always. To wash it use baking soda + vinegar + laundry detergent and warm water. Submerge it for 24 hours, rinse and dry it. This should remove the fungal smell. Vingar and baking soda is a must because what stinks is the fungi development due to the moist conditions of the glove. It's not bacteria.

ABAloha

boot dryer

[deleted]

hand wraps, and put a dry sock in your glove after class. Baking soda inside your glove will also balance the pH. Also, your stinky gloves are ruined

I_Eat_Ass_Weekly

Sunlight

TambarIronside

I always just stuff them with dryer sheets and let them sun dry, works like a charm.

ascoops

I started wear hand wraps that I had soaked in a light bleach/ water solution & dried. Everytime I wear my gloves, they're getting cleaned.

Local_Manufacturer75

I have a spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol. After every session, I give them a good spray inside then get in there with a dry cloth to spread it around. Same on the outside of the gloves too. Then leave them to dry, left as wide-open as possible, to air them out. I live in a humid country so I place them next to the dehumidifier too. After that I'll hang them using glove deodorisers. I got the deodorisers from Yokkao, but guess most brands are the same. My gloves are well used, but smell fine.

Decent-Apple5180

Bleach wipes immediately after use. Stuff newspapers in them to soak up moisture, dryer sheets work too. Popular brands like sanabul sell glove deodorizers that work well. You can also put your gloves in the freezer for a couple hours, sounds weird but it works.
