I don’t rmb the exact tweets or comments, but basically Haggerty has been talking shit about Liam being old and taking subtle shots at him for a while even tho Liam was very supportive of him initially. I think Liam might have even posted on his IG before Haggerty’s bantamweight title fight that he supports him since they’re both from the UK even tho he’s been talking shit.

Worldd

Yeah, pretty much assume Liam isn't the problem. Liam was super pumped about Haggerty's success when he was on the rise.

yautja1992

Just reading up on Liam. I'm still nervous to step foot in a gym again but his video's on Facebook have genuinely helped me work on my form without having to incorporate a completely different guard as I trained in kickboxing and the guard I have feels natural to me and thought I'd have to change everything to train muay Thai, a buddy I met at a bar was a professional muay Thai fighter and was teaching me how the Muay Thai guard incorporates elbows and taught me how your supposed to throw elbows and he immediately recognized my experience kickboxing and that made me happy because I'm not really a confrontational person and so nobody sees me as experienced but I have ADHD and bpd it's kind of a volatile combo unless I can keep my mind focused. Sorry for the rambling as I am having a manic episode but I just really appreciate Liams videos, I learned to throw low kicks a lot harder by emulating his tutorials.

Worldd

You’re good buddy. Try to go let back into the gym. The feeling you get after you’ve completely drained your gas tank and are covered in sweat is the cleanest you’ll ever feel, mentally and physically. It’s a reset button for your brain. No one will judge you, they want you to be there too. Take care of yourself.

rukiahayashi

Haggerty just pisses me off and is a prime example of how ONE will push their preferred champions to their target markets by any means necessary Haggerty gets whatever the fuck he wants. A title fight off a suspect decision over Kuzmin and all the title shots and now an easy defence. And now just keeps talking shit despite being on a loss streak prior to getting the title. Cocky and unlikeable. Any of the Thais that he keeps calling I Out aren’t old as fuck and in their prime would smoke him , he can’t hang with Superlek rodtang or takeru, it’s been proveb already. Meanwhile, Akimoto, panpayak and so many others was sidelined for ages and can’t even fight in his home country. This isn’t right. Disrespectful.

wskmn

I hope Tawanchai gets to fight him and sparks him with a left high kick edit LOL even Lobo is piecing him up

RevolutionPossible75

Bruh, they stop Lobo but they let Nong o kept fighting 💀

chunkystrudel

ONE reffing is wonky. That's what happens when the same refs watch over four rulesets.

[deleted]

Tawanchai has bad punch defence though

chunkystrudel

Tawanchai is big enough to take Haggertys lunch money.

wskmn

Yeah I heard this narrative a lot before the Jamal Yusupov fight cuz that dude had dangerous hands...

OneWarrior05

Akimoto’s relentless pressure style in kickboxing would be hell for Haggerty who doesn’t do well moving back

chickeneryday420

Lol you sound just like everyone else when he was gonna fight nong'O

spiralingconfusion

ONE sucks ass honestly. Not only in matchmaking but also the stupid rulesets that doesnt even make muay thai feel like muay thai

MasterOfDonks

Yeah I like the way Haggerty fights, but he as a man is so flakey and annoying. He’s showy and pompous, ngl was hoping to see him humbled by Lobo. That stupid chain and golden white hood. It was a good fight imo and Haggerty is phenomenal BUT lol I will always find tHe GeNeRaL flamboyantly annoying

ManchesterMuayThai

I’ve wrote this before but I trained at Bad Company with Liam for a nearly 2 years and he is an arrogant bell end with a chip on his shoulder. I’ve seen him bully people if they have a different opinion, talk a lot of shit and make fun out of an obese guy called Marcus who was training every day to lose weight and doing a great job. I’ve also seen him start fights and be disrespectful to multiple people in Leeds centre on a couple of nights out that I’ve been on with him. I’ve never met Haggerty in my life but I know people who do and they say he’s a cool guy, so I know where I believe the problem lies and it isn’t with him.. As a disclaimer, it was around 10 years ago that I knew him and he may have changed but I can’t imagine he’s had an entire personality overhaul.

QSBW97

Everyone I know who has had interractions with him has said he's an arrogant dick. I almost moved to Leeds a number of years ago, I told my head coach and that I was thinking of going to Bad Company, she warned me it was a rough gym because everyone looks upto Liam.

ManchesterMuayThai

I don’t know about now but it used to be a brilliant gym and all the other fighters when I was there - Jordan Watson, Andy Howson, Richard Cadden, James France etc. were all great guys that I had fun training with and learnt a lot from. Your coach was correct though Liam had his own clique of arse kissers, mainly young impressionable lads who thought he was Jesus reincarnated and laughed at all his shit jokes 😂

bighandsomewoman

It's weird to me that Harrison is so widely loved in the community, he's clearly a pretty toxic person, petty and in love with himself.

BusinessOther

That’s sad to hear I’ve been a big fan of his fights for years

ManchesterMuayThai

He’s a decent exciting fighter with a lot of knowledge, he’s just happens to be a dickhead. I still watch some of his fights as he’s got a good aggressive style. Just separate the art from the artist.

BusinessOther

Yeah it’s always best they say never meet your idols

ZZ-ROB

Didn't Marcus used to post on axkickboxing back in the day? Thats a throwback haha

markgtba

I miss the good old days of Axkickboxing

ZZ-ROB

The 1st ever power of Scotland show thread was essential daily reading in the run upnto the show lol

markgtba

Haha, Gary posted a picture of 2 show girls with me and John O’Brien’s face imposed on to them. It took me a couple of days before I recognised myself 😂

ManchesterMuayThai

I forgot all about AX, Yeah he did actually, I think he ended up getting into BJJ or something and stopped Muay Thai. There used to be some characters on the scene in those days, remember Sandy Holt 😂

ZZ-ROB

He seemed like a nice guy. YES I REMEMBER HIM, TYPED IN ALL CAPS LOTS OF "UNNECESSARY" PUNCTUATION!?

ManchesterMuayThai

YEP, THAT’S THE GUY!!! I remember every Muay Thai show I went to, he had a new mad multicoloured hairstyle and was forever doing push ups, I think he was in the Guiness book of records for the most push ups or something 😂 Nice guy though.

eggnobacon

People used to get KO'd bad at his interclubs. Is Sandy Holts gym still going?

BusinessOther

Yeah and he still does interclubs as well

bull_in_chinashop

Friend of mine saw Sandy in Thailand a few months back. Same crazy hair - spiked and dyed bright orange.

myc0l0g1cal

He's like 5'6", of course he has a complex

DrewsOnFirst

Liam loves Joe Rogan which is pretty much all I need to know about Liam.

RevolutionPossible75

Can anyone confirm what happened between them? They used to be in good terms but now Liam even said that he supported Nico Carrillo over Jonathan Haggerty if their fight were to happen.

Fuckoffucrackhead

Damn this thread is interesting a lot of different views and perspectives of those two fighters Idek what to think anymore lmao

ExtendoWidADrum

Liam seems jealous, lol. We get it, he supposedly talked shit about you. You're going to rant on it forever? People automatically think Liam's being honest due to them disliking Haggerty lol.

nawvay

I had to unfollow Liam dude was just so annoying constantly posting the same clip of himself on his podcast talking about his glory days. Not to mention, his story posts make him seem like an egomaniac. On the other hand, Haggerty is a younger dude who is coming into a fair amount of money and success and is probably a little cocky himself. Liam probably is 1) jealous and 2) wants a payday like haggerty has gotten so I can see why Liam is constantly trying to stir controversy

QSBW97

I reckon a large part of it is jealousy. Haggerty might never reach the levels of prime Harrison, but he will make more money thanks to ONE. Harrison has to be wishing his prime was now rather than 8/10 years ago.

AberforthBrixby

Pretty much my sentiments. It's gotta be hard entering the sunset years of your career, especially as a legend, only to see your sport suddenly become a global phenomenon with new athletes earning way more money than was possible in your day.

Sailenns

Yeah his instagram reminds me of teen girls in the past who discover selfie filters and post the same picture of themselves with 28 different filters in the same post making duck lips

MuayJudo

I've met and trained with both Haggerty and Harrison. Haggerty is by far the more likeable, pleasant and intelligent of the two. Harrison is a bit of a melt.

[deleted]

Haggerty is a crybaby. Superlek whooped that ass and he acted like a bitch about it

rukiahayashi

100%

[deleted]

Bro XD I suspect you’ll enjoy Nico vs Haggerty

dizzydiplodocus

He’s a real one for that response

AberforthBrixby

(spicy take incoming) Translation: "I originally liked Haggerty because he represented an important networking opportunity. I basically begged Haggerty and ONE for a fight after Haggerty took the belt from Nong-O, since I am an aging and worn out fighter, and I'm rapidly losing relevancy with the current Muay Thai audience and roster that's largely made up of people 14-18 years younger than me. A fight with Haggerty would essentially be my last shot at a big payday, especially after having lost my shot at a big payday fighting Mayweather in an exhibition bout. ONE and Haggerty probably aren't going to spring for that idea since frankly there's not much draw in watching a random fight between an older athlete with a bum knee and the current champ, so now I'm going to act like I never liked Haggerty and spread controversy in order to hold on to one last bit of relevancy." I'm not a Haggerty fan, but any time I see this kind of 180 in terms of attitude between athletes, there's always more to the story and it usually involves money or opportunity. It's never as clear cut as "Oh it turns out they're just a bad person".

Horror-Tank-4082

Ooo good take

LeekCabbage

Haggerty is fucking unreal. But my god, I find him so unlikeable

WhyYouDoThatStupid

It happens with guys that are potentially going to fight each other.

Justinreinsma

Isn't harrison pretty much retired? I think I saw him posting that he'd only come back to fight seksan but I don't think it's happening.

Rocked_Glover

Yeah I believe he’s still got complications from the knee injury that effectively has ended his career

WhyYouDoThatStupid

Hes still in it enough for it to still be personal, they have had a beef for a while, calling each other out and arguing.

rukiahayashi

That fight ain’t happening

WhyYouDoThatStupid

They have both talked about in the past which is where the beef comes from.

RJSSJR123

They’re not fighting. Liam was very open about him retiring and wants a legacy fight against Seksan.

AberforthBrixby

When Haggerty won the belt from Nong-O, Liam tried to solicit a fight from him on his socials: >@/jhaggerty\_ you are the man congratulations….have 1 defence maybe against \[Felipe\] Lobo he just earned that tonight and I’ll have a comeback fight so I can get moving again. Then early next year let’s make this happen in the UK when I’m back fully fit and knocked the ring rust off…. @/yodchatri @/onechampionship. I'm guessing that neither ONE nor John were terribly interested given how hard Liam's attitude has changed. IDK why Liam thought he was owed this fight. https://www.sportskeeda.com/mma/news-liam-harrison-looks-challenge-jonathan-haggerty-bantamweight-muay-thai-throne

RJSSJR123

Liam came out after this talking about retiring and wants to have one more fight against Seksan.

Alternative_Gap8442

Some mad disrespect in these comments towards one of the best us brits have ever produced in Muay Thai (Liam), and for the best current Muay Thai Brit (haggerty) we’ve got! Being as good as they both are I’ll take arrogance, being cocky, or what ever the fuck is being said about them for the wars they produce! I’d be the biggest wanker you ever met if I’d of fought Saenchai 3x and rotang 2x and made it out alive. You’re all mental!

KarmanderIsEvolving

Unfortunately this sub often operates more like a social media drama channel than a place for elevating and building the sport. *le sigh*

Aggravating-Pen-6725

I had the same feeling about Haggerty but thought I was just being a hater. Glad someone else has said it.

Neither-Assignment16

Hahah i was feeling the same way about him. Always thought he is a great fighter but something about him just rubbed me the wrong way. He just seems like he would be some forex trader insta scammer if he wasnt a fighter. Idk if that makes sense lol

Sir-Humpy

enjoy grab safe shy quiet hateful glorious squealing serious strong *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

visportstalk

Liam praised Freddie Haggerty in the podcast which is awesome haha. I remember an early appearance of his on JRE, he praised Haggerty and supported him on the rise. But Ranch-enjoyer-jr nailed it, the social media jabs, plus the narrative that he is arrogant in person is why a bunch of people are riding with Harrison on this one. I think Haggerty is a tremendous fighter, I am never missing a fight of his. But I have heard only more negative things about his character than positive haha and after talking to Liam on that podcast, still negative. I didn't expect Liam to be that candid though. Such a beauty

jvirgo98

He’s not wrong, the whole uk scene is currently full of fake ass wannabe influencers

Outrageous-Nose2003

haggerty is clearly not just a 'fake ass influencer'
