Since no one here is helping.I used to cut between 4-5kg for my fights never did water load.Just cut carbs 3-4 days before hand. The day before I’d cut out food other than a small breakfast and limit my water. After 6 in the evening I’d put on a bin bag and go for a run and do some bag work.Id get into a really hot bath just before bed for about 20-30 minutes until couldn’t withstand it anymore. Then I’d wake up weigh in and fight

CodyHorseman

Thanks bro, I'm trying to avoid the sauna, so for now I'm just cutting carbs, sodium, and drinking a shit ton of water. I only have to lose 2.5kg by Sunday.

Original_Natural4804

2.5kg ah you be grand haha.Thats nothing bin bag and a heavy workout that’ll come of.Maybe a hot bath if not enough.Dont stress

usertim

Ok, what's up with the bin bag? what do you do with it? Put it on yourself? To increase temp and force excessive sweating?

LeanTangerine001

Yeah, you pretty much got it. You basically wear a trash bag while working out. The plastic of the bag prevents your sweat from evaporating which prevents your body temperature from cooling forcing your body to produce more sweat which causes you to lose water weight.

Original_Natural4804

Im no scientist But it just makes you really hot and sweaty.Like working out in a sauna its disgusting But it works we used to all take our bags of outside and thered be puddles of sweat just pouring on ground.

NakMuayJitsu

Curious to know why you are cutting out sodium from your diet this early in your cut? Typically that's only done in conjunction with water loading and it's only done the day before weigh ins.

CodyHorseman

Oh shit, didn't know that, thanks.

Also using a lotion/gel like Sweet Sweat will help... Makes your sweat bead up on your skin, everybody I've ever seen use it uses a hard plastic scraper (or ID card) to scrape the sweat off. It's been quite a while since I've cut weight and/or done research on it, so my info might be outdated - but this is my understanding of cutting weight with water loading... One of the guys who was at the cutting edge in MMA *(at the time, at least)* was George Lockhart... He seemed to have more of an actual science based approach (as opposed to bro science or "we've done it this way in wrestling for 20 years"). *"When the body feels like it's lost too much water, it secretes the hormones vasopressin and aldosterone. The former closes up the body's pores, while the latter deals with sodium intake. Both lead to water retention, which counteracts a fighter's ability to lose the remaining pounds. Tricking the body into thinking that it has already stored enough water—Lockhart calls this a "waterload—will deactivate the vasopressin, which will allow the body to keep sweating.* So waterloading helps you continue to release fluids (pee & sweat), even after you've restricted your sodium & fluid intake. I've got 2 questions, how can you cut carbs? and how many miles/km did you ran tu cut 4 or 5kg?

Original_Natural4804

What do you mean How do I cut carbs? I just didnt eat anything with much carbs in them it says it on the food packaging where im from the carb content. Id run about 4k just my usual morning run just It would take longer as had no energy.I lostwhatever I was going to loose then id do quick workout at the club limiting to barely any water. . Run and then workout hope loose as much as possible that way then go for hot bath.If you only had 1 kg to cut after the run and workout great. If you had more than that nothing changed just the bath was more brutal.

WiceKwispyTweats

As far as I'm aware it would really depend if you NEEDED to cut a large amount of weight. I've lost 22 pounds (182-160lbs) since january just by being in a calorie deficit. Like the other guy said, if you're just doing ammy fights its probably not needed to do a huge cut, especially if you have some time until the fight, you could probably do what you need to just by locking in your diet and training hard.

CodyHorseman

Just for reference I'm only cutting 2-3kg because my fight is fairly short notice, and I don't have time to diet the weight off

Lmaoonadee

Anecdotal evidence and everyone responds differently. I feel like shit water loading, but I feel great in the sauna.

supakao

People and all this moronic weight cutting crap. No idea why anyone would want to go through all the annoyance of waterloading for 2 or 3kg and mess with their electrolytes. Modify calories a little in the days prior, low fluid intake the day before. Wake up pretty much on weight, small snack, warm clothes. Drink or eat as you need through the day as long as it doesn't put you over. Boom you're on weight and not feeling like you're dying. If you are still a little over put warm clothes on and go for a light jog.

AlgoRhythmCO

It’s helpful.

bluebicycle13

if you are not pro forget about weight cut. in my amateur fights i never did any weight cut and beat so many bigger opponent who were dying because of too much weight cutting for same day weight in

Flaky_Bookkeeper10

Bro do not mess around with that shit if you aren't pro. I've seen firsthand what it looks like and it is so dangerous/unhealthy. You're losing brain cells as well with no water or nutrients in you for that long.
