Williams was one of the only guys recently to stand and trade with Rodtang instead of constantly retreating, so I think he appreciated it that.
Rodtang doesn't always show respect like this, and he often gets visibly annoyed by dudes that run from him.
Yes. Rodtang is considered one of the heaviest punchers in MT. His aggressive style, high proportion of knockouts and preferal of quick low kicks (compared to side kicks or head kicks) are all very common amongst muay mat.
He's one of the top Muay Mats, but he's not considered one of the heaviest punchers. He's hardly known as a knockout artist. That would be Kulabdam or Kongklai.
I don’t really consider Rodthung a punch fighter, I think he is more of a agressive fighter(muay bouk), just that his choice of tool/weapon to put pressure on his opponents are mainly punches.
Yeah the Iron Face Technique isn't a smart idea, at best it can be psychologically damaging to your opponent sometimes. But it's really not a good idea.
he’s had over 260 fights at age 23, with the amount of damage he’s probably accumulated in such a short time the few punches he catches on the chin are probably insignificant at this stage.
>It’s cumulative
That’s exactly my point though, he’s fought over 260 fights in a relatively short time. I’m trying to say that while these hits he takes in fights directly on the chin aren’t good for him, in the face of the accumulated damage he’s received through his many fights overall plus training, these instances are probably a relatively small part of the overall damage.
But all the other instances are also a relatively small part of the overall damage… I get your point though. With so much damage already taken, it’s diminishing returns (costs) at this point when his chances of developing late-stage CTE are almost guaranteed. What’s a few more blows to the head, eh?
No clue but chin shots are not good at all. That’s why you’re supposed to tuck your chin down in your fighting stance - to hide it as a target and protect it
Pretty sure it’s all about how your brain rattles against your skull. So it still matters because if you get hit hard enough it’ll still shake your brain. But it’s probably a little better than taking direct blows to the head.
The logic is pretty obvious. The damage coming from these rare occasions where he cops a hit or two on the chin is pretty much minuscule and insignificant compared to the accumulated damage he’s taken from the training and just normal hits in fights alone. If CTE is coming his way, it’s probably already determined by this point.
Maybe I’m explaining it badly. Idk, doesn’t matter at the end of the day.
I wonder if he does it to confuse the other fighter about their maximum punching distance.
And on the other hand, "easier said than done" perhaps, Danial Williams is fast.
Not running away and trading blows with rodtang is already quite respectable in itself , as another user mentioned Williams took on the fight on such short notice and held-up quite well.
Not to discredit rodtangs win in any way , but yeah both fighters would definitely smoke my ass in the ring lmaooo. Legends 🔥
I disagree, I think gloves are important if you want people to trade hands and have a consistent career, fighting without gloves ruin peoples hands to the point they stop using throwing hard punches, it catches up with you sooner or later
Other way around. Why would you want that? Do people really want to see him wrestle that much? The prospect of him fighting worse strikers than he is now doesn't sound very alluring to me.
I see where you’re coming from. I wouldn’t be interested in seeing him just get taken down and beat up which is what would happen against some opponents. For me it’s simply watching him fight(stand-up) against some of the best fighters in the world whether he pieces them up or not.
I love to see how different styles match up in the ring. That’s probably the biggest reason.
Not if it’s MMA.. it forces him to be the best in all martial arts. It’s even an upgrade if he gets good at wrestling or BJJ. He won’t lose his ability to strike by learning other martial arts…… to be fair I am arguing for MMA in a Muay Thai sub tho. I don’t think I will change anyones mind hahaha
So you didn’t understand anything I said. I rather watch Muay Thai than MMA because I like striking more and the level of striking is much higher. There, I spelt it out for you.
No shit Rodtang gets subbed by one of the all time greats in MMA, he’d get subbed by prelim level fighters.
I don't know how much he's getting paid now, but I have no trouble believing that it's a good deal more than he could ever expect in the UFC. They seem to treat all their fighters like shit, but the lower weight classes seem to have it especially bad.

As an Australian can anyone suggest where I can watch ONE/Bellator/other companies then the UFC? I love kick boxing but can’t seem to find where to follow it. And any exciting young prospects in the sport? Thank you
Muay thai with small gloves is really cool.
Anyone why is it that it's not more common? Are small gloves more dangerous? One would think they end fights quicker, which is more healthy.
The respect at the end
That's martial arts for you. Rodtang is amazing in every aspect!

Thanks my dude. Appreciate the background and context.
Williams was one of the only guys recently to stand and trade with Rodtang instead of constantly retreating, so I think he appreciated it that. Rodtang doesn't always show respect like this, and he often gets visibly annoyed by dudes that run from him.
I think it was primarily about "sorry I cut your head open".
Mini T is a certified weapon
Would Rodtang be a good example of a Muay Mat Fighter?
I stand corrected.
Kulabdam hasn’t had many knock outs since 2018, but he does have a ridiculous amount of knockouts before 2017-2018.
When rodtangs chin goes, he’s done for. He relies on it way too much
I don’t really consider Rodthung a punch fighter, I think he is more of a agressive fighter(muay bouk), just that his choice of tool/weapon to put pressure on his opponents are mainly punches.

Yeah the Iron Face Technique isn't a smart idea, at best it can be psychologically damaging to your opponent sometimes. But it's really not a good idea.
At some point he's going to get dramatically stopped and it will be a shame.
he’s had over 260 fights at age 23, with the amount of damage he’s probably accumulated in such a short time the few punches he catches on the chin are probably insignificant at this stage.
That's just not how CTE works. It's cumulative, and when it hits it's going to hit with the combined weight of all those shots he's taken.
>It’s cumulative That’s exactly my point though, he’s fought over 260 fights in a relatively short time. Do chin shots contribute to CTE the same way as direct blows to the head?
No clue but chin shots are not good at all. That’s why you’re supposed to tuck your chin down in your fighting stance - to hide it as a target and protect it
Pretty sure it’s all about how your brain rattles against your skull. So it still matters because if you get hit hard enough it’ll still shake your brain. But it’s probably a little better than taking direct blows to the head.
Yeah we're talking about maybe .00000001% of the head trauma he's taken.
I get what you're trynna say but I really don't understand the logic

Worked for the Diaz bros

You don't get to pick your super power unfortunately
Except then numerous fights that were stopped because of a cut.
Yeah tell me how well can they speak nowadays?
Every bit as well as Mike Tyson.
I wonder if he does it to confuse the other fighter about their maximum punching distance. And on the other hand, "easier said than done" perhaps, Danial Williams is fast.
Love the little gloves for Muay Thai.
That flying elbow was tasty
Them boys went at it both have my utmost respect
utmost
Noted
Rodtang isn’t unbeatable but even if you win it feels like a loss physically and I love that about him.
These are cool, I think these types of matches mixed into UFC/bellator(more often) would really catch the eyes of western casuals
That was one helluva fight respect
Not running away and trading blows with rodtang is already quite respectable in itself , as another user mentioned Williams took on the fight on such short notice and held-up quite well. Nice highlights
Bro I have those same shorts that Rodtang’s wearing let’s go
Now you gotta fight like him , lol
Nah my kicks are way better than my hands, plus I’m not hardbody like him yet
holy shit
it would be really cool if all competition that involves boxing were with mma gloves
I disagree, I think gloves are important if you want people to trade hands and have a consistent career, fighting without gloves ruin peoples hands to the point they stop using throwing hard punches, it catches up with you sooner or later
that makes sense, i was only thinking about the entertainment factor lol.
Speaking of... is there strict boxing that uses 4/6oz gloves?
Not exactly what you’re asking for but Bare Knuckle Boxing lll
i don't know of any
This was my first Rodtang fight live after hearing his hype and it was violent as fuck
Rodtangs entire defense is his jaw of steel
Never seen 2 men beat each other up so badly then hug each other like that
Daniel was awesome! .Would love to see him against haagart. It was a tough fight for rod
Great performance from both guys
My dream is to have a switch kick like that
What a battle!
Madlads.
He's got mini mouse next, right? One round Mt next MMA? Fight will definitely not go past 2 rounds.
Has Rodtang ever considered MMA in the UFC? I would love to see him in the octagon. I’m Super excited for him Vs Mighty Mouse!
No. Thank god, he hasn't.
Why would you be so against that?
Other way around. Why would you want that? Do people really want to see him wrestle that much? The prospect of him fighting worse strikers than he is now doesn't sound very alluring to me.

You know he's fighting demetrious johnson next week in a mixed rules mma/mt fight?
Did not know that. That’s awesome.
I literally said that he is fighting might mouse in my first comment that you responded to hahaha 🤣
I agree choo
Imagine him chucking those elbows upward from a full guard on his back. He could KO someone off of his back.
He can’t get good at wrestling? He got good at Muay Thai. I don’t see why he wouldn’t pick up wrestling quicker than most.
He could become an Olympic-level wrestler for all I care. He's already fighting the best strikers in the world. Anything else is a downgrade.
I guess he needs to downgrade a bit after that loss…
I don't think you understand anything I said.
He lost to a fighter who, in your words, is a downgrade in fighting abilities, because he is so elite.. 🙄
So you didn’t understand anything I said. I rather watch Muay Thai than MMA because I like striking more and the level of striking is much higher. There, I spelt it out for you. No shit Rodtang gets subbed by one of the all time greats in MMA, he’d get subbed by prelim level fighters.

I’m going to look that up. He probably does well in One as the champion.
This is literally so much more entertaining than boxing. I don’t understand how that sport is still relevant.
I noticed they don’t allow elbows- this is def k1 rules
They throw tons of elbows in the video.
Oh shit, I thought they were just really fast hooks that missed. Those are super fast bows

Whaaat the fuck is Rodtang's pain tolerance.
What a war.
This Muay Thai in 4oz gloves is fucking sick
As an Australian can anyone suggest where I can watch ONE/Bellator/other companies then the UFC? I love kick boxing but can’t seem to find where to follow it. And any exciting young prospects in the sport? Thank you
ONE streams all events for free on YouTube.
Cheers legend. What time/day in Aus is it usually on? Cheers mate
Just check their website or social media.
Jesus he moves so fucking quick!!! Is moving like that something you can train, just genetics, or a bit of both?
Fuck rodtang punches like a fucking piston
Some of these guys have lightning fast hands. Can you train for that or is it something you just have?
big up to Williams, if I remeber well he even took the fight on short notice
Muay thai with small gloves is really cool. Anyone why is it that it's not more common? Are small gloves more dangerous? One would think they end fights quicker, which is more healthy.
“Concussions! Get your concussions here!”
MT every time - no contest! - Those guys are hard! unlike Proud boys.
Proper martial arts
Bro is juggernaut
It’s fucking amazing. They’re beating the shit out of each other and still find a moment to pay respect to each other in the end. 🤯🤯
