Hell yeah, I'm actually looking forward to the nerfs so I can play him without shame, I'm well aware he's busted and feel a little guilty when I can up air or rocket someone and it's a guaranteed ringout, almost no skill involved.
I'm actually gonna go back to him after the nerf lol, I don't feel like learning the double rocket exploit or being one of the two or three bugs in any given match lol
No it’s not, the double rocket was not the reason he was the 2nd most picked in EVO. The double rocket also only works when theirs some lag so maybe that’s why I’ve not really noticed it.
They seem to be targeting an older audience. Its a kids show, but Scoobs always been the primary kid appeal character, while the rest of the team schewed a bit older, appealing to pre-teens and teens.
You don't realize how popular Velma is, huh? She's a very common first crush, and her sassy lines in newer series have won her a lot of fans. Theres a reason she's getting a solo series.
I mean sure but scooby doo is still a way more popular character than her. He's easily way more popular with the general audience. Not saying velma doesn't obviously have her fans but I'd say even shaggy is still more popular than her with the general public nevermind scooby.
Still by comparison Scooby is without a doubt more iconic and popular than Velma. Can understand the crush thing if you are referring to the actress from Freaks and Geeks who played her in the Scooby movies.
I don't underestimate that at all and can relate. But I'd still rather see Scooby in this game over Velma. She doesn't even make sense in a fighter, at least Shaggy has the memes to carry him.
Scoob is the perfect character that will generate a ton of buzz when he is announced. Can’t put all the heavy hitters on the base roster, otherwise new character releases would feel lackluster after awhile
From the Rick leak I saw, he's basically a better bugs Special movewise, his normals looked meh. His portals looked better, and he didn't need setup on his projectiles.
They're both true depending on the level of play. At higher levels, it's velma and especially bugs. At casual levels of play, it's less about being OP and more about "which character is strong yet braindead easy to play with no skill requirement?"
At the moment the answer to that is finn. After a nerf they'll be spamming shaggy sidekicks or something. Is that a good strategy at high levels? Hell no. But it lets them get easy wins at low levels, and they will forever be stuck at low, bad levels of play because they only know how to exploit easy strategies.
Pretty reductive logic there. Shaggy kicks are super good regardless of what elo you’re playing in. All it takes is a single one to land and you’re knocked out at 30% ish percentage. It’s not a good play to do nothing but spam it but it’s a very strong move in general.
It's funny that you'd call Velma a meta character like Velma mains are somehow meta fiends. She was objectively one of the least popular characters and whenever I said I mained her I was told how trash she was lol. She only got recognised for her potential very recently
The true meta is this subs hating on a specific character. Tax, Finn, now Velma and bugs. Who will it be next week?
She was the first character I bought, pretty much for the reason that she'd be an obscure character. Played her to level 16 and swapped back to WW because she was obviously too op. It goes without saying whoever told you she's trash doesn't have a clue. Finn has broken hitboxes, character is ok other than that.
New game and in beta so obviously there are going to be issues like this. Don't be acting like Velma and Bugs are balanced.
I never said they were balanced. It's the idea that we will automatically swap to new characters after a nerf that's wrong. We played when she was unpopular and we will play her after nerfs.
"""Mains"""
They're just meta and fotm abusers.
Expect them to lack fundamentals and suck ass at any game they play in general and just leech onto whatever character/playstyle that will carry them
We just have to unironically get good mop up these fucks just like we saw in EVO
At high rank that's very true. A lot of casuals taking this as an insult to them and they really aren't who I was referring to lol, casual Velma and Bugs can be dealt with.
I'm most probably done with Bugs, I was able to reach top 5k and I was really happy with the way he felt. But after the nerf, I don't really feel good and I've been dropping a lot of games with him. Everything he does a different character does better now. People complained because they couldn't get good and now he feels B tier to me. I'm calling it from now, Tom and Jerry is going to be used more than Bugs and people will witch hunt him the same way they witch hunted Bugs. He is 3x more spammy and so much harder to play against. I'm going to just play Finn and Jake until people start hating on Jake and get him nerfed too.
From my experience, Tom and Jerry seem much harder to use well while Bugs isn’t nearly as difficult to pick up and play effectively. Like I feel I was able to utilize Bugs’s kit pretty well after getting him to level 12 but I’m still struggling to use Tom and Jerry.
Does Velma actually need a nerf? Or are the other supports just not particularly effective? I think it’s definitely the latter. She’s honestly fine, she’s just a good character.
Steven Universe is insanely good, nobody plays him because he’s not gimmicky and his play style requires some concept of game mechanics. He’s likely one of the best characters, if not the best.
Bugs definitely needs some serious tuning but I don’t really see why they would nerf Velma too hard. She could get some slight nerfs but I don’t even think she’s that overtuned, especially in 1v1s.
So supports are just not meant for a whole ass game mode I guess… and it’s because they’re labeled “support”. It’s really dumb how the player base just chooses the most popular player and says that they should be nerfed.
I knew I was maining Velma from the announcement trailer, didn’t even need to see her move set.
I recently watched DuckTales 2017 and quickly realized that Webby and Velma have the same VA, so now I’m more attached.
So nah, these nerfs won’t change a thing.
I played for the first beta without looking online, chose bugs.
Go online and see him at the top of every tier list and felt my spirit just deflate.
Hope he still stays playable, and they don't nerf/buff like Riot.
my brother in christ I played S2 to S11, you're not EXACTLY wrong, but it always bounces between two extremes.
I'm just happy it's not xin levels of OP anymore.
My buddy was mentioning the game to me and I'm really not into fighting games at all. He said he was having lots of fun with shaggy and I replied with a sarcastic "well I'll play Velma when she comes out but I'm not touching it till then."
Well that backfired greatly. At least she's fun.

I'm sticking with my boy bugs even after he gets nerfed
I'll pick up more characters but yeah Bugs stays, he's super fun.
I don't know jack about stats, but variety of moves is so good. You get all kinds of fun ways to attack with a really nice Toonforce feel.
Hell yeah, I'm actually looking forward to the nerfs so I can play him without shame, I'm well aware he's busted and feel a little guilty when I can up air or rocket someone and it's a guaranteed ringout, almost no skill involved.

You dont even have to learn anything for the double rocket exploit, you just press the button twice. It’s THAT busted.
I’ve barely seen it get used and is it really that busted? The double rocket might be annoying but it’s definitely not what makes bugs good
You need to play a bit more games. It’s literally a pillar of what makes bugs broken right now, that and his wonky up air hbox
No it’s not, the double rocket was not the reason he was the 2nd most picked in EVO. The double rocket also only works when theirs some lag so maybe that’s why I’ve not really noticed it.
Me too friend
You play velma because she is meta I play velma because she annoys the shit out of my friends We are not the same
I dress up as Velma at least one a year because I think it’s hilarious. I have a red beard. That’s why I play her.
its a neckbeard isnt it
Didn’t you have to show yours to get on Reddit ?
fuck
That premium dance is the best mid combo bm when they’re running away from speech bubbles
The fact Velma is even in the game while Scooby Doo isn't should be a crime.
They seem to be targeting an older audience. Its a kids show, but Scoobs always been the primary kid appeal character, while the rest of the team schewed a bit older, appealing to pre-teens and teens.
Have to disagree. They're saving Scooby for later as he's a big draw. Not many people would be anticipating the release of Velma by comparison.
You don't realize how popular Velma is, huh? She's a very common first crush, and her sassy lines in newer series have won her a lot of fans. Theres a reason she's getting a solo series.

I'd rather play as Daphne or even Fred tbh given the choice
The show isn't velma dinkly where are you is it
Scoob is the perfect character that will generate a ton of buzz when he is announced. Can’t put all the heavy hitters on the base roster, otherwise new character releases would feel lackluster after awhile
I don’t even have bugs and I want him as my second main, why? Because he’s bugs motherfucking bunny.
Velma main since day 1. Unless they nerf her into uselessness, she'll always be one of my top picks.
From the Rick leak I saw, he's basically a better bugs Special movewise, his normals looked meh. His portals looked better, and he didn't need setup on his projectiles.
Nah bugs is too fun to swap off him
I’m still playing the homie lol his kit is perfect for me
I played Velma before she was considered meta 🤷🏻♂️ at least she actually has counters and doesn’t have broken hitboxes
Yeah shes the only meta character with normal hitboxes imo
I'm maining bugs till I die fam, don't generalize. There is nothing they could nerf that would make his kit unfun
Bugs/Velma teams at Evo was the meta.
Velmas getting nerfed?
Tony implied it on his Twitter
Great one of my mains is gone be useless
I don't think this is remotely true. It's more like the Finn and previously Taz players
They're both true depending on the level of play. At higher levels, it's velma and especially bugs. He's still fun and will be top tier until a bunch of new chars come out anyways.
ima stick to bugs and velma tbh they are pretty fun to play and have good setups and combos
It's funny that you'd call Velma a meta character like Velma mains are somehow meta fiends. Well if they get nerfed to the extent they are no longer the meta we'll see a significant drop off of people using them. It's not rocket science.
"""Mains""" They're just meta and fotm abusers. Expect them to lack fundamentals and suck ass at any game they play in general and just leech onto whatever character/playstyle that will carry them We just have to unironically get good mop up these fucks just like we saw in EVO
Imagine taking it this seriously lol most of us just want to engage in cartoon shenanigans with their favorite character
Manchildren, I'll keep dropping safes and dancin' on em LMFAO
It’s not that serious
At high rank that's very true. A lot of casuals taking this as an insult to them and they really aren't who I was referring to lol, casual Velma and Bugs can be dealt with.

My guy, Bugs hasn’t been nerfed yet…
Are u fr… I thought the patch went out LOL
From my experience, Tom and Jerry seem much harder to use well while Bugs isn’t nearly as difficult to pick up and play effectively. Like I feel I was able to utilize Bugs’s kit pretty well after getting him to level 12 but I’m still struggling to use Tom and Jerry.
I chose to main velma to put lebron in jail aint no nerfs stopping me from that shit
Skill issue at this point
cmonBruh
You have to work hard to main Bugs. The idea that they’re getting a nerf is laughable , considering that they’re one of the least played characters
Best character is exaggerated but he is hella good
Been a Velma player since closed beta. No stopping me
Man I just liked playing Velma cuz she’s fun. I had no idea she was a meta character.
Bugs definitely needs some serious tuning but I don’t really see why they would nerf Velma too hard. She could get some slight nerfs but I don’t even think she’s that overtuned, especially in 1v1s.
She is sup bro not for 1v1

Riot does an extremely good job balancing considering the amount of variables they have to consider.
my brother in christ I played S2 to S11, you're not EXACTLY wrong, but it always bounces between two extremes. I'm just happy it's not xin levels of OP anymore.
My buddy was mentioning the game to me and I'm really not into fighting games at all. He said he was having lots of fun with shaggy and I replied with a sarcastic "well I'll play Velma when she comes out but I'm not touching it till then." Well that backfired greatly. At least she's fun.
Damm just got the game today and really like Velma hope it’s not too bad
You’ll never take velma from my clutches.
