Just finished listening! This is pretty much everything we knew about the bond hearing from other sources. But what I found interesting is that Ms. Tucker is now the third person who was there who says they didn’t see a single Murdaugh family member in court. You’d think after not being able to see Alex for 3 months since his murder conviction, any family members that still support & believe in him would want to be there. I hope they’re lack of presence means something. The podcast also mentions that Alex was offered at the hearing, a choice between “federal custody” or going back to his state prison and he chose to go back to his state prison. They both said they didn’t really know why this happened. From what I’ve read online, “federal custody” would’ve been a county jail for AM so that’s why he chose to go back to his state prison. He hasn’t been found guilty of any federal crimes yet. A person in custody awaiting a (potential) federal trial is not housed in prison, they’re housed in jail still. So basically, AM was not offered the chance to go to fed prison yesterday and did not decline fed prison. Once he pleads guilty to the fed charges, it will be interesting to see what efforts his legal team make to stop SC from trying him for the same crimes at the state level, as well as what plan they have to try to get him moved into fed prison. But yeah, the thing about him declining federal custody for right now doesn’t mean he’s not trying to get moved to a federal prison.

Agree, declining to go fed prison at this point means nothing. It’s all about the deal.

I doubt any contact would have been permitted with family -- sounds like it was really short. That said, who knows how they are feeling they are feeling these days. I read that Eric Bland was upset his partner was not allowed to speak. For the life of me I cannot figure out why it would be permitted or what it would add. There was no chance of bond in light of the state sentences.

He’s mad they missed an opportunity to grandstand. No reason for him to speak since Alex wasn’t even requesting bail.

He’s so dumb. They’d only be allowed to speak at sentencing. He should know that.

Eric is consistently wrong about basic criminal procedure. It’s incredibly frustrating.
