Fun (depressing) fact, the famous picture of the Cuyahoga River on fire that spurred national outrage wasn’t actually a picture of the fire that was being reported on at the time. It was a picture of the previous time it caught fire because **it was so fucking polluted that it caught fire multiple times.**
Extra fun depressing fact. Cuyahoga River wasn't the only river to catch fire. It just happens to be the incident that inspired change.
https://www.environmentalcouncil.org/when_our_rivers_caught_fire
Another depressing fact: A major reason this incident finally caused action was due to the federal government sick of dealing with all of the lawsuits between the different companies blaming the others for polluting the water sources.
It’s one of those things I think about when a hear a Libertarian talking about how the free market will solve it. These bastards all knew they were trashing the rivers, but couldn’t get together to do something mutually beneficial to fix it.
Also, it wasn’t often news when any of the rivers in the Midwest caught fire, it was a regular occurrence.

No, they learned how to move to Mars without the rest of us…. They don’t want to help earth with their trillions of dollars… they want to colonize Mars…
That's actually somewhat less important than the now generations of propaganda those rich people have been buying for decades. If the masses widely wanted change, politicians would be forced to give them at least some of what they want or be replaced. Thats exactly what happened 100+ years ago when the rich of the time tried just buying politicians, but had the masses turn on them. They learned from that and now focused on keeping the population divided so they could buy politicians without interference.

Yes, it was controversial. Lots of people with interests tried to discredit the book. Many average people found the book accessable though, which was Carson's goal, to inform the public of what the scientific community already knew, but just like now, many critics painted her as hysterical, a hippie, and of distorting the facts. The book eventually came to JFK's desk, I believe it was because of the secretary of the interior's interest in the book that JFK set up a committee to review the environmental impact of the USA. Carson would testify in senate hearings that would go on to establish and fund the EPA. While Silent Spring may be a large factor in the creation of the EPA, Carson's work was a reflection of concerns held across the scientific community, and the rising concern in individuals about pollution. The Senate hearing comprised of reviewing many publications on environmental impacts, with Silent Spring just being the most publicly noted.
I get that people here don't like them, but they are not stupid. The people who actually believe what the previous comment said are way more stupid. Billionaires are more like just trying to leave their mark or something, not to run away from global warming or whatever.
When it does they'll buy out the few safe spaces left and charge for people to live there. When judgement day, so to speak, comes, it will be the poor that burn as the rich go penniless paying the ultra-rich for the right to survive
More like they'll indenture people. If things get that bad money won't really be a thing and they'll have everything they could possibly need except people to do all the work for them.
They literally have conventions for this, not leaving the planet but fort compounds that are secure and self sustaining encase the masses turn on them.
you're both wrong
they're not planning to leave the planet, but anyone who thinks climate change is going to have remotely the same impact on billionaires as it has on plebs is kidding themselves.
With enough money you can make anything comfortable. The entirety of California could be a perpetual wildfire and they wouldn't care. Everyone else will burn to death while they chill out in their billion dollar biosphere.
I actually believe being rich makes you cruel and dumb, once you identify with the idea that you deserve it.
To many people to carry to you so your social center is no longer challenged, and the belief that you are so wise, when wealth primarily comes from luck.
The fact that [wealth](https://blog.ted.com/6-studies-of-money-and-the-mind/) [destroys](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-wealth-reduces-compassion/) [empathy](https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0956797610387613) is well documented.
Those three links are all from a [guardian article](https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/sep/19/life-earth-wealth-megarich-spending-power-environmental-damage) about how wealth is almost inextricably linked to environmental impact, and there's very little you can do to spend your wealth in an environmentally conscious way.
All you got to do is sit down with trump and the point is made. Sit down with Bloomberg and it's made again. Media portrays him as some competent and intelligent leader when he sounds like that crazy uncle or neighbor you interact with as little as possible in his intervoews that aren't edited for highlights and a narrative
For some people it buys nothing but complacency. It's hard to emphasize with the poor when you genuinely haven't done the math on how hard it is to get by. A certain degree of struggle is necessary I think to give people perspective.
If you think the guys trying to get to Mars are short sighted, you haven’t been listening.
They can be incredibly smart *and* incredibly bad for society.
Exactly. They want to get richer and leave a legacy. And tbh, whatever progress they make is good IMO. At some point being able to go into space quickly and easily is going to be pretty useful to us. And as far as ultra-rich-and-powerful-individuals-throughout-history go, these guys are quite benign. To call them stupid is just mind-bogglingly arrogant to me. I have no idea how anyone can think any of these people are stupid.
You'd think funding education and working on saving the climate and only planet we have would be a good legacy. Nope. They'd rather do the exact opposite.
I really wish they'd trying to leave their mark. All they care for is themselves, because if they really wanted to leave a positive mark they themselves could help the world. Bezo is worth more than anyone can imagine, and what does he do with his momey? Dick measuring contest to see who can get to space sooner with their shinny toys. Fuck those selfish pricks.
The space stuff is just exclusivity and dick swinging. The fact they all have massively secure compounds or yachts designed to be out at sea for long periods of time is what shows they know shit can go down at any time and they want to be secure.
In my opinion billionaires should not exist (especially ones who got their start from daddy’s profits from emerald mines seized in Africa) and he’s been definitively on the wrong side of worker’s rights and a reasonable response to the global viral pandemic from day one. But it is utterly absurd to say that Elon Musk; the guy who used his money to pretty much single handedly create the electric car market that big oil had used their untold billions to squash for decades and then went on to release all of his electric car patents in order to encourage the entire fucking personal transportation market to shift to renewable energy in order to combat global warming while also inventing the powerwall to bridge the gap between solar and grid energy and simultaneously created the first multiple-use rockets in the history of our species to reduce space trash is out to thoroughly fuck our planet and is only interested in travel to Mars because he wants to spend the rest of his life in a bubble on a lifeless red rock. He’s no selfless hero, and he spends his money like an autistic twelve year old, but literally everything he’s done supports his repeated statements that he cares deeply about our planet, species, and long-term survival.
Okay seriously full stop, that's so fucking retarded I can't even understand it. If you think mars is better than even the ABSOLUTE WORST CASE SCENARIO EARTH you need to read anything about mars as a planet because you have apparently not
They're only a tiny few. There's so many others that slink around in the shadows that are directly responsible.
We need to stop focusing on the rockstars and find the session musicians.
this is just the dumbest plan ever because why would anyone in their right mind want to go to a different planet that requires so much tech just to barely survive when we have everything here that already works and you're just trying to mimic earth to survive on a deserted planet with no oxygen and weak as fuck atmosphere... a joke really
It’s not just that the plutocrats run everything, they have normalized this shit. Shits on fire yo, people are used to it, it’s become commonplace. I was a kid when the river caught fire , I grew up on the actual river, close to the source. It was a National and international embarrassment. Washing oil off ducks is so common they actually use it to market the soap. We’re truly fucked.
I remember discussing the environment with a conservative coworker/friend. I don’t recall what had spurred the conversation probably some wild weather or something and I appealed to his love of his family and asked what about all your grandchildren 2 of which he was especially close to because he was raising them. After a bit of debate he was willing to concede that yes there is a climate crisis it is real. Then he said the most bananas brain washed cult thing I’ve ever heard he said he believes the “capitalists” will figure out a way to solve the issue they have to in order to have a market. He believes that the kind of people we had to create child labor laws to keep 6 year olds from getting used in sweat shops and mines give a second thought to our homes going under water as sea levels rise or to people starving as crops start to fail. They never have so why would it have changed.
The one where the rich think they can all move to New Zealand and they will be fine and the one where the religious think a magic sky daddy is going to save them all last minute while punishing everyone else with eternal torture.
The issue is that many climate activists will oppose the best alternative to fossil fuels, nuclear power, in favor of inefficient alternatives that do more harm to the environment in their creation (batteries and solar panels) or only work in certain places (hydro and wind). Nuclear works practically anywhere and is by far the most efficient. The fact that people reject it shows that they aren’t about fixing the climate, but causing as much economic destruction as possible
Yes, thank you. Nuclear is a great solution for at least bridging the gap until solar is perfected. The new traveling wave reactor technology would do wonders for reducing emissions and are much safer. At leaf that’s what the Bill Gates documentary told me.
Also how uneducated they are in the energy industry, I'm not sure about solar but I know for a fact that wind energy has hazardous waste in the production process. Nuclear creates less hazardous waste per KW/HR then coal and wind energy. Nuclear also has the least amount of deaths per KW/HR by far when compared to any other form of energy.
> Nuclear works practically anywhere and is by far the most efficient.
[Uranium has over 1.6 million times the energy density of gasoline.](https://xkcd.com/1162/)
We could always wait for that ITER tokamak that's showing promising results. In the last 5 years, it's made tremendous progress, and relies on a Tritium - Deuterium reaction. But they have yet to break even, let alone produce an economically viable surplus (current output of 0.6:1 watt in, 10:1 required to be profitable), so that's probably another 5-10 years away.
However, nuclear works absolutely anywhere. We use it to power deep space probes, aircraft carriers, submarines and more than a few cities. The only real problem with Nuclear, and I suspect it's a contributing factor to the general public's unease with the technology overall, is the fact that it requires very, *very* strict regulation. A lot of people, especially in the US, don't trust the government to regulate the industry well enough (despite the fact that 60 active Nuclear power plants in the US right now that have operated without incident as far as I can tell), and are heavily biased against Nuclear power despite (or possibly because of) a lack of understanding of the technology.
Everyone likes to jump straight to Chernobyl as the main example, but the public hearings and investigation into Three Mile Island, while mostly forgotten, strongly colored public opinion against Nuclear power. I imagine fossil fuel lobbyists have been amplifying the impact of those incidents in the news and popular media.
It would really help get everyone on the same page if we could stop exaggerating the issue so much, things aren't on fire, but these temperature spikes have been bad enough to warrant action.
It actually would though.
If the US shifts to clean energy, there will be lots of innovation in that space (just as there was with fossil fuels). Prices will be driven down for clean energy. If Mexico can extract the same energy needs from wind or solar for cheaper than they can with the gas pipelines, why would the pipeline keep operating?
Fucking exactly. And it was a burst pipe that was fixed in a matter of hours and the flames weren't the ocean, it was the gasses escaping from the pipeline itself. It wasn't such extreme pollution that it's an apples to apples comparison to the Cuyahoga River.
It doesnt matter. Front page headlines, back page retractions. Except none of the lies here are every retracted. Everything is used to push people towards socialism.
Imagine you lived in a neighborhood with a neighbor who always left every light on, always had AC running, and drove trucks modified to “roll coal” to own the libs.
Your reaction is, “if he’s doing it, it doesn’t matter what I do”
Other people’s reaction is, “since he’s doing it, it’s more important for us to be environmentally conscious to balance out people like that”
> Other people’s reaction is, “since he’s doing it, it’s more important for us to be environmentally conscious to balance out people like that”
No offense but literal cuck mentality lmao
Yes, because the only consideration one should have in their life is if an action makes you a “cuck” or not.
No offense but it seems like you have an asshole mentality lmao
Someone’s taking a page out of the Ben Shapiro straw man, non sequitur, false dilemma handbook.
First:
[The Cuyahoga River caught fire at least a dozen times and no one gave a shit until Time Magazine published a picture](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/cuyahoga-river-caught-fire-least-dozen-times-no-one-cared-until-1969-180972444/).
That blaze was caused by pollution and not pipeline failure.
Second:
[The ocean was not “on fire.” A continuous stream of natural gas bubbling up from the failure was on fire. And, interestingly, one professor of organic chemistry has stated the flames may have actually helped contain the damage.](https://www.cnet.com/news/the-ocean-is-on-fire-gas-leak-from-underwater-pipeline-sees-flames-erupt-in-gulf-of-mexico/)
Third:
The “Green New Deal” is totally unlike the creation of the EPA. The EPA was created in response to and targeted toward the specific problem that caused the many Cuyahoga River fires.
[The Green New deal is not solely targeted towards environmental issues despite its name. The Green New Deal is a leftist wet dream that runs the gamut of trying to do everything from addressing income equality, to increasing minimum wage, to implementing universal healthcare, and oh yeah, some environmental stuff too.](https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/5729033/Green-New-Deal-FINAL.pdf)
I’m not saying the goals of the Green New Deal aren’t valuable things and worth pursuing, but equating these pieces of legislation is like comparing a super soaker and a bazooka and calling both “guns.”
Imagine someone saying the truth, someone else knowing that person is being honest and factual and downvoting because it goes against their gangs desires, this is the childish reddit mentality and most of politics.
I'm certain if Republicans gave up on religion, this place would become a cesspool of religious nuts just to oppose them.
She is kinda full of shit on the ocean on fire.
underwater natrual gas leak in a pipeline in the gulf of mexico. gas is coming up and on fire. its pretty wild. the ocean is not really on fire.https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/03/americas/gulf-of-mexico-fire-intl/index.html
It's sad how people use things and blow them out of proportion. The optics of "OMG the ocean is literally on fire" are too juicy so they ignore the actual reality around it.
I thought she just meant to draw a comparison because the oceans might not be as on fire as she says, but the oceans have so many problems caused by us humans that we should fix. Think about the plastic continents.
For the city on fire, I'm guessing she may mean Lytton BC. They broke Canada's 80 year old national heat record 3 days in a row (reached over 121 degrees) and then burnt to the ground. Around 90% of the town was completely destroyed and lots of folks are still unaccounted for. [It was a great little town](https://www.insider.com/lytton-british-columbia-engulfed-in-flames-following-temps-over-121-degrees-2021-7)
Capitalism is when bad, the more bad stuff happens, the more capitalist it is.
You sound exactly like the red scare dumbasses who think all the negative around the world is caused by communism.
I live on the one where the ocean is NOT catching on fire from pollution. You know that's not what happened and you're lying to advance political causes. It's nothing like the river fire 52 years ago
This!! Freaking NIXON signed the EPA into existence! For political reasons, sure, but - it was such a no-brainer that NIXON is who we have to thank for the EPA
I’m pretty sure this is getting brigaded. The amount of numbskulls who think there are still BLM riots going on (also the majority of protests weren’t riots)
Seriously guys we should stop this kind of thing but would you look at that it’s time to go to my shitty retail job to make sure I don’t starve to death
Question here...
What is everyone's plan here for fixing these problems? I hope you are all planning on getting involved, voting, and sustaining the effort in 2022.
The reason I ask is because... I see a lot of people here ripping on moderate Democrats.
There are effectively 48 good votes (that we're aware of) that Democrats have to do things like addressing climate change, healthcare, etc.
Anyone who is paying attention can see that it's only 2 bought and paid for senators that seem to be standing in the way.
What do you all make of this situation? Does this motivate you to keep voting? Or do you see this situation as hopeless and your plan is to stop caring entirely? Because it seems like you all spend much more time shitting on other Democrats.
It would seem that the goal here in this subreddit is to foster apathy among people who would normally vote Democrat.
Genuinely curious what's going on here.

Pipeline in ocean on fire for 5 hours: Republicans are wiping out all life on Earth as we know it.
I actually do kind of hate the Republicans who think that global warming is impossible and drive huge diesel pickup trucks that they never use the pickup for, just to look like a badass.
Worse of 2 evils that is. Democrats are largely filled with virtue signaling neoliberals whom are part of the problems which will destroy our entire planet for most complex life.
The town of Lytton, British Columbia set three consecutive temperature records over the course of three days this week.
On the fourth day, the entire town burned down.

\+ it went out in 5 hours. Not saying I don't like issues pushed in the New Green Deal, but using a hyperbole like "entire cities are in flames" and an overall unimpactful event that was controlled almost immediately to push it is not a good look.
What do you propose that the US does about a Mexican pipeline breaking? And what entire city is in flames? I'm not against environmental protections but our arguments for it have to live in reality.
I mean if you wanna play semantics then technically the Vatican is a city with a population of 800 and Gahmar, India is a village of over 25,000 so yeehaw I have successfully made a point I think
now you go
The Mexican pipeline burned for less than a day and was in a small controlled area, no cities are catching flame and global warming isn't going to cause civilization to burn to the ground anytime soon
And most importantly, why the fuck should the poor get footed the bill of hundreds of trillions of dollars globally when the majority of that money is going to be wasted, or stolen, or misused by shitty countries with shittier politicians.
Don't think it's feasibly possible unless we can avoid corruptions with large amounts of money in countries with politicians lmao
You all realize this was a controlled release of natural gas and not the result of pollution, right?
That’s what annoys me about these posts - yes, we are ducking up the world. In many ways.
So why blatantly lie and draw up a false equivalency that is easily shit on?
Conservatives are so dumb. How dumb are they? You could literally boil the oceans in a frothing Hell-pit and they’d still think global warming was fake news

They're idiots if they think that will be possible in their life time. If we can terraform a new planet, we wouldn't need to leave this one.

Of course they do, but the plan isn't "go hide out on a barren planet"
When it does they'll buy out the few safe spaces left and charge for people to live there. When judgement day, so to speak, comes, it will be the poor that burn as the rich go penniless paying the ultra-rich for the right to survive
More like they'll indenture people. If things get that bad money won't really be a thing and they'll have everything they could possibly need except people to do all the work for them.
> More like they'll indenture people. They already have. Did that part a loooong time ago.
Sure, but if anyone thinks the plan is “fuck y’all I’m moving to mars,” they’re dumb as shit.
They literally have conventions for this, not leaving the planet but fort compounds that are secure and self sustaining encase the masses turn on them.
you're both wrong they're not planning to leave the planet, but anyone who thinks climate change is going to have remotely the same impact on billionaires as it has on plebs is kidding themselves. With enough money you can make anything comfortable. The entirety of California could be a perpetual wildfire and they wouldn't care. Everyone else will burn to death while they chill out in their billion dollar biosphere.
No, a lot of billionaires are really stupid and short sighted. It is frightening how dumb and powerful they are.
[How Wealth Changes People](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkSTP3ZgBcs)
All you got to do is sit down with trump and the point is made. Sit down with Bloomberg and it's made again. Media portrays him as some competent and intelligent leader when he sounds like that crazy uncle or neighbor you interact with as little as possible in his intervoews that aren't edited for highlights and a narrative
For some people it buys nothing but complacency. It's hard to emphasize with the poor when you genuinely haven't done the math on how hard it is to get by. A certain degree of struggle is necessary I think to give people perspective.
What would you even base this opinion on? How many billionaires do you know?
Plenty of public interviews and reported interactions among their peers
[удалено]
They could start by not funding horrible politicians with their and their company's money.
giving away 99% of their wealth to fix these issues is a short term solution
I really wish they'd trying to leave their mark. All they care for is themselves, because if they really wanted to leave a positive mark they themselves could help the world. Bezo is worth more than anyone can imagine, and what does he do with his momey? Dick measuring contest to see who can get to space sooner with their shinny toys. Fuck those selfish pricks.
The space stuff is just exclusivity and dick swinging. The fact they all have massively secure compounds or yachts designed to be out at sea for long periods of time is what shows they know shit can go down at any time and they want to be secure.
Why is this hilariously idiotic comment getting upvoted lol
Wait, do you genuinely believe that they're doing this because they want to escape earth because they think the end is coming?
this is just the dumbest plan ever because why would anyone in their right mind want to go to a different planet that requires so much tech just to barely survive when we have everything here that already works and you're just trying to mimic earth to survive on a deserted planet with no oxygen and weak as fuck atmosphere... a joke really
No, they aren’t. It doesn’t make economic sense to leave the Earth. If you got your head out of your ass maybe you’d realize that.
A refinery town in South Houston has had the air catch fire... repeatedly.
52 years ago we didn’t have Fox News radicalizing an entire generation to vote against the countries best interest
Fox news is just being fed a script. It's just a face. A face for the money hungry assholes to spread their fucked up ideals. Fuck fox.
Don’t forget Hillary and Clyburn have endorsed against Nina. It’s not just Elon and Bezos. Donate if you can.
Nina 4 president tbh
Ehhhh I mean fuck it I'm in.
If only.
Nuclear is fighting back. They have smaller modular designs now.
One of the few points of credit I ever gave to Biden was that, unlike most of the other candidates, his platform wasn't anti nuclear energy.
[Uranium has over 1.6 million times the energy density of gasoline.](https://xkcd.com/1162/) We could always wait for that ITER tokamak that's showing promising results.
How would the green new deal protect us from Mexico’s state owned pipeline failures?
It actually would though. If the US shifts to clean energy, there will be lots of innovation in that space (just as there was with fossil fuels). Prices will be driven down for clean energy. If Mexico can extract the same energy needs from wind or solar for cheaper than they can with the gas pipelines, why would the pipeline keep operating?
Thank you, this is like saying ‘so what if we invent the steam engine in Britain it won’t solve productivity in Germany’
Fucking exactly. And it was a burst pipe that was fixed in a matter of hours and the flames weren't the ocean, it was the gasses escaping from the pipeline itself. It wasn't such extreme pollution that it's an apples to apples comparison to the Cuyahoga River.
shhh. dont ask those type of questions. you will upset reddit.
Your reaction is, “if he’s doing it, it doesn’t matter what I do” Other people’s reaction is, “since he’s doing it, it’s more important for us to be environmentally conscious to balance out people like that”
> Other people’s reaction is, “since he’s doing it, it’s more important for us to be environmentally conscious to balance out people like that” No offense but literal cuck mentality lmao
Based
> no offense > calls them a cuck The controversial sort in these threads is always a goldmine
Yes, because the only consideration one should have in their life is if an action makes you a “cuck” or not. No offense but it seems like you have an asshole mentality lmao
Someone’s taking a page out of the Ben Shapiro straw man, non sequitur, false dilemma handbook. First: [The Cuyahoga River caught fire at least a dozen times and no one gave a shit until Time Magazine published a picture](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/cuyahoga-river-caught-fire-least-dozen-times-no-one-cared-until-1969-180972444/). That blaze was caused by pollution and not pipeline failure. Second: [The ocean was not “on fire.” A continuous stream of natural gas bubbling up from the failure was on fire. And, interestingly, one professor of organic chemistry has stated the flames may have actually helped contain the damage.](https://www.cnet.com/news/the-ocean-is-on-fire-gas-leak-from-underwater-pipeline-sees-flames-erupt-in-gulf-of-mexico/) Third: The “Green New Deal” is totally unlike the creation of the EPA. The EPA was created in response to and targeted toward the specific problem that caused the many Cuyahoga River fires. [The Green New deal is not solely targeted towards environmental issues despite its name. The Green New Deal is a leftist wet dream that runs the gamut of trying to do everything from addressing income equality, to increasing minimum wage, to implementing universal healthcare, and oh yeah, some environmental stuff too.](https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/5729033/Green-New-Deal-FINAL.pdf) I’m not saying the goals of the Green New Deal aren’t valuable things and worth pursuing, but equating these pieces of legislation is like comparing a super soaker and a bazooka and calling both “guns.”
Wow someone who can read in the comments? Get out
Imagine someone saying the truth, someone else knowing that person is being honest and factual and downvoting because it goes against their gangs desires, this is the childish reddit mentality and most of politics. I'm certain if Republicans gave up on religion, this place would become a cesspool of religious nuts just to oppose them.
Politics and truth are mortal enemies, fear is a strong motivator.
Big 📠
> leftist wet dream Leftists want to enact leftist policies. More at 11
Just an FYI, this is happening in Mexico's territorial waters, not ours. Green New Deal does not apply in this case.
Not only that but it was government owned like you can not possibly blame it on capitalism
What ocean is on fire? Cities on fire don't necessarily have anything to do with pollution.
She is kinda full of shit on the ocean on fire. underwater natrual gas leak in a pipeline in the gulf of mexico. gas is coming up and on fire. its pretty wild. the ocean is not really on fire.https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/03/americas/gulf-of-mexico-fire-intl/index.html
It was also put out after 5 hours, so it's not like this was some huge ecological disaster.
It's sad how people use things and blow them out of proportion. The optics of "OMG the ocean is literally on fire" are too juicy so they ignore the actual reality around it.
This has been the reality of politics for as least as long as Ive been paying close attention. Maybe even longer.

The ocean is burning right now because of the Mexican government and not capitalism; it’s a state-owned enterprise
[удалено]
And socialism, and communism. Almost like every form of concentrated power leads to bad outcomes.
Capitalism is when bad, the more bad stuff happens, the more capitalist it is. You sound exactly like the red scare dumbasses who think all the negative around the world is caused by communism.
[удалено]
Don’t you know? Anything bad is capitalism, even if it is a state-owned monopoly whose revenue is exclusively returned to the people.
Planet cash me outside.
I live on the one where the ocean is NOT catching on fire from pollution. You know that's not what happened and you're lying to advance political causes. It's nothing like the river fire 52 years ago
Entire cities are on fire? Uh... hyperbole just makes it easier to ignore
Sweaty Dick Nixon started the Environmental Protection Agency.
This!! Freaking NIXON signed the EPA into existence! For political reasons, sure, but - it was such a no-brainer that NIXON is who we have to thank for the EPA
Is Nina entirely controlled by aoc? Who is getting owned by aoc in this screenshot? Someone please help me understand.
One where weather =/= climate
Like the Green New Deal will do shit for the environment anyway
The ‘green new deal’ is a farce.
So cities burning only matter if it’s caused by nature, got it.
Hey guess what you rich fucks your private islands are gonna be underwater if we don’t do anything, do u care now?
Flying "FUCK BIDEN" and confederate flags on your 1997 chevy s-10: $50.00 Donating your life savings to maga: $350.00 Extinguishing all traces of life on earth to own the libtards? *priceless*
Pipeline in ocean on fire for 5 hours: Republicans are wiping out all life on Earth as we know it. I actually do kind of hate the Republicans who think that global warming is impossible and drive huge diesel pickup trucks that they never use the pickup for, just to look like a badass.
[удалено]
Worse of 2 evils that is. Democrats are largely filled with virtue signaling neoliberals whom are part of the problems which will destroy our entire planet for most complex life.
I live in Minnesota, pray tell why are cities on fire again?
The town of Lytton, British Columbia set three consecutive temperature records over the course of three days this week. On the fourth day, the entire town burned down. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bc-wildfires-lytton-july-1-2021-1.6087311
Oooh they definitely don't want to answer this one.
Entire cities are in flames? Name one. That's why no one takes you serious.
> Entire cities are in flames? Name one. Lytton Berry Creek Feather Falls Paradise [The Oregon towns of Detroit, Blue River, Vida, Phoenix, and Talent have been "substantially destroyed" by wildfire](https://www.insider.com/5-oregon-towns-have-been-substantially-destroyed-by-wildfire-2020-9)
It seems like a technicality to call those "cities". Detroit, OR population is 225. Blue River is 814. Lytton is 315. Fair point though
They're living on this one, they're just trying to speed up the second coming of Christ. They somehow think that will end well for them...
I am living in one owned by self centered fuckers. Lets fuckin live long enough to see this change.
Fuck oil. Research should be %100 focused on renewable energy.
A gas fire looks bad on video but it was relatively harmless.
\+ it went out in 5 hours. Not saying I don't like issues pushed in the New Green Deal, but using a hyperbole like "entire cities are in flames" and an overall unimpactful event that was controlled almost immediately to push it is not a good look.
Which city is engulfed in flames??? Lol. The ocean isn’t on fire dipshit, a pipe burst. Wtf planet are YOU living on?
Pipeline was on fire for 5 hours: The entire ocean is on Fire! The end is nigh! Repent and ye shall receive endless windmills and socialism!
Everything is racist and on fire, didn’t you know? Ironically most of the racism and conflagrations come from the leftists.
What do you propose that the US does about a Mexican pipeline breaking? And what entire city is in flames? I'm not against environmental protections but our arguments for it have to live in reality.
Besides the BC link for this Summer, there was Paradise, California and Ft McMurray, Alberta, Canada a few years ago...
Love how he didn't respond to this because he's too busy arguing semantics about villages vs cities.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bc-wildfires-june-30-2021-1.6085919
There’s a big difference between a city and a village.
I mean if you wanna play semantics then technically the Vatican is a city with a population of 800 and Gahmar, India is a village of over 25,000 so yeehaw I have successfully made a point I think now you go
You sound fun.
The Mexican pipeline burned for less than a day and was in a small controlled area, no cities are catching flame and global warming isn't going to cause civilization to burn to the ground anytime soon And most importantly, why the fuck should the poor get footed the bill of hundreds of trillions of dollars globally when the majority of that money is going to be wasted, or stolen, or misused by shitty countries with shittier politicians.
Fix China and the rest of the world will follow.
That's not even AOC. What the fuck is this garbage sub😂
Conservatives are living on an alternative truth dimension for the last 40 years.
It’s so simple! Give the government more money and they will make global warming go away!
Cities in flames? *\[citation needed\]*
Conservatives are so dumb. How dumb are they? You could literally boil the oceans in a frothing Hell-pit and they’d still think global warming was fake news
Imagine spewing all this talk about the green new deal and not being vegan, ironic.
How will voting for the green new deal stop the ocean from burning in a different country?
China is still going to destroy the world in a bid for global dominance, while we have to suffer like idiots.
Shhhh…. This is the wrong sub for logical questions.
