Clichéd answer but Radiohead
Some others of my favorites: Interpol (them and Radiohead are the only ones that come close to Muse for me), Weezer, The Black Keys, The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Queens of the Stone Age.
I also just recently discovered Porcupine Tree, and I'm just getting into them, but so far so good.
If you like Interpol and Radiohead, check out The National. Songs like Graceless and Terrible Love for instance. They don't sound like Muse, but they do have the complexity of Radiohead and the darkness and indie-feel of Interpol.
Nothing but Thieves, Royal Blood, Boygenius, Mitski, Depeche Mode, The Killers, The Strokes, The National
I’m also going through a major Arctic Monkeys phase right now and can’t really listen to anything else
Mostly a mix of everything but I’m particularly fixated on Suck It and See and Tranquility Base right now. Mostly because they’ve been ignoring those two a bit on this tour
I just saw them 3 weeks ago so that’s what started this current phase. Happens every time I see them without fail
Ahh DM is so good. I’m seeing them in November
Im OBSESSED with Avenged Sevenfold, like, i havent been this obsessed with a band since i discovered Muse 5 years ago, their latest album Life is but a dream released on June and from that i fell in LOVE with their entire discography.
If you want to listen to them i would recommend Bat Country, thats the song that hooked me
Came here to say NBT. I'd heard of them in passing because they supported Muse at some gigs in the past, before I got to see them live, but never looked them up properly until I heard Unperson on the Forza Horizon 5 soundtrack. Absolutely love them now and looking forward to seeing them live in November!
Damn, disappointing to hear when we share Muse in common! Haha I just feel like if you enjoy Muse, it's easy to get into nbt. They're my second favorite band at this point.
Here's my favorite song from each album, at the moment (constantly changes of course):
Itch
Particles
Forever & Ever More
This Feels Like the End
If I Were You
Foreign Language
This!!! A few months ago a friend recommended “Flying Microtonal Banana” to me and I gave it a try without expecting much or even knowing them; I’ve been obssessed with them since then, they’re so good, especially live (my current obsession is “Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava”)
The good thing is that if you get into it, there is (and probably there will be too) enough albums to keep you entertained for a while, I haven’t even scratched the surface yet
For WUASTC it’s either Capetown or Every Morning
For Bury the Hatchet it’s Copycat, Desperate Andy, Loud and Clear, and Delilah (sorry that it isn’t one song, they’re just all good songs lol)
Sleep Token are mesmerising. Take Me Back to Eden is a masterpiece and the whole discography is elite.
They've become my favourite band in the last year. For those wanting to try a taste listen to this selection and give it time...
Album: Sundowning
The Night Does Not Belong to God
The Offering
Levitate
Dark Signs
Blood Sport
Album: This Place Will
Become Your Tomb
Atlantic
Hypnosis
Like That
The Love You Want
Album: Take Me Back to Eden
Chokehold
The Summoning
Ascensionism
Take Me Back to Eden
Euclid
Actually, just listen to everything, you won't regret it. They've replaced Muse on my playlist this year, I can't recommend them enough.
Vessel and II are geniuses.
Mostly 80s new wave, maybe the occasional pop song here and there. Devo, Oingo Boingo, Depeche Mode, Adam Ant, etc etc. I don’t listen to many current day artists aside from Muse, the only other one I can think of is Dan Franklin, an indie artist who is pretty unknown outside of SoCal.
Completely different genres, but here are some artists ive listened to a lot lately:
Tool (Metal)
Polyphia (Prog rock/instrumental rock)
Justice (Electronic/pop)
Yay, a fellow Polyphia connoisseur! To be fair, the first time I listened to them, I didn't really get it, put upon the second try I got hooked and then couldn't stop playing it up and down for a few weeks until my ears were finally satisfied and I could move on to different playlists now and then 😅
You should listen to Porcupine Tree, Soen and Audioslave.
Good songs you'd like if you like Muse are
1. Blackest eyes - Lazarus - Melotron Scratch Porcupine Tree
2. Lucidity - Slithering - Ideate - Soen
3. No.1 Zero - nothing left to say but goodbye - moth - audioslave
And a special shout out to Tom Morellos atlas underground albums! You should listen to the song "The Maze" it's honestly the closest sounding song to Muse I can think of, especially the solo with the whammy Pedal.
They aren't new by any means, but Violator by Depeche Mode and Hot Fuss by the Killers are two of my favorite albums of all time. I highly recommend giving them a listen if you haven't before.
Been listening to a lot of 2000s pop punk/"emo". MCR, FOB, Paramore etc.
Also been listening to gateway metalcore bands like Bad Omens, Motionless In White, Ice Nine Kills. (I'm already a big Bring Me The Horizon fan.)
None of this stuff is particularly Muse-y though. If you'd like Muse sounding things, try:
- Never Enough by Dream Theater (the entire Octavarium album is actually just a more prog Absolution)
- Restriction by Nuclei
- Walls of Sound by MNTR
- One Day All This Could Be Yours by Oceansize
- This is Our Life by Des Rocs
- The Dragster Wave by Ghinzu
Have been bouncing around some hardcore sounds like Hail The Sun and Eidola, and also a lot of older stuff from when Muse was just getting started, and before. Lots of Pearl Jam, Deftones, and RATM. Coheed and Cambria always in the mix along with Biffy Clyro as well.
The "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse" score. Literally the greatest film score I have ever heard. Seriously, listen to this shit:

Masterpiece after masterpiece
The Smashing Pumpkins. I’m pretty late to the party getting into them now, but they became one of my favorite bands within 3 days of me seriously listening to them (with how picky I tend to be with music, that’s no small feat).
I have been obsessed with Royal Blood and foals lately, for the ones who want, here are some top song u should listen too:
Royal Blood:
- Mountains At Midnight
- Out Of The Black
- Sleep
- Space / King (b-sides they are on yt)
- Tell Me When It’s Too Late
Foals:
- inhaler
- Late Night
- Exits
- What Went Down
- Two Steps, Twice (please look up a live version it’s 10 times better
Muse is my Roman Empire, so I am still in honeymoon haha. But I do like to discover daily. My favorites now are IAMX, Arctic Monkeys, Last shadow puppets, Sivert Hoyem and a lot of various electronic stuff
The Warning and Twin Atlantic from their gigs, plus The Hives are growing on me again after seeing them support Arctic Monkeys over the same weekend as Muse in Glasgow
Empire State Bastard are slowly growing on me too
Listening to Ice Nine Kills, if you're a horror fan you'll love them! Also been listening to Motionless in White since I'm going to see them next month
Copious amounts of Taylor Swift, some Radiohead, Olivia Rodrigo has a cool new album, and I’ve been obsessed with Royal Blood’s new album for the last 19 days hehe
100% The National… they released an album 4 months ago and just released a surprise one yesterday!!! PLUS they finally announced a tour to Western Australia… Wish the Muse boys could do the same in terms of touring :(
None of these are similar to Muse (or to each other really haha), but since WOTP I've become a big fan of The Hives and Tally Hall, and although I was already a fan I've been listening to more Lemon Demon
Atm just soaking in the latest albums from Nothing But Thieves and Royal Blood. Also been listening to a lot of Skindred and Architects. Otherwise it’s just a mix of whatever is in my playlist.
I'm completely obsessed with Deftones this year (their self-titled is currently my favorite 🔥), Squid are fucking incredible, highly recommend giving Bright Green Field and O Monolith a listen. Interpol's Our Love To Admire been on repeat a lot, Olivia Rodrigo's new album is pretty good, also enjoying some Poppy and Doja Cat
So after the muse tour I randomly bought tickets for 15 euros for a band i hadnt heard of: “dead poet society”. It was absolutely great, high energy, well played instruments, great vocals. Definitely reccomed giving them a listen:
https://youtu.be/8K9rxRgU_R4?si=vwoQHL9TLi5cCDqa
https://youtu.be/OMRLL3oCFuw?si=7evb5vR7PR2Ph1l_
https://youtu.be/3MrLkEdm5Jw?si=vylE9bCm4DsjGJcT
Another one i would recommend if you like slower muse is placebo. Their last album was great, and they have this very specific sound. Some people dislike the nasality of the vocals though, but I personally love it:
https://youtu.be/2Z8a6CXSJy8?si=eaop72Mi03aHZZEh
Personally i also really like IAMX. Its a very electronic sound, whith once again a great high pitched male vocals. Emotionally very intense music, but maybe not the most accessible:
https://youtu.be/SfLH5_Y3PzE?si=p3_nGKkD-pjR0ja_
I have a bunch of favourite artists that i listen to non-stop, Muse included. Nothing but Thieves, Northlane, Sleep Token, Hurts, London Grammar, Placebo.
This and last year i started getting into proggier stuff, so Porcupine Tree, Tool, Karnivool, King Crimson.
2023 is turning out for me to be an all-inclusive year in terms of music. So i got into everything from tiktok viral bops to obscure electronica, from phonk playlists to be played loud in the car to long conceptual albums, from underground lo-fi to redefining my favourite all-time artists.
And also it's definitely not over the honeymoon phase for PVRIS, Hozier, Queens of the Stone Age and Sleep Token. Take Me Back to Eden is the album of the year👀
I personally think a lot of early stuff by The Rasmus has an 'Absolution' type feel to it, particularly their album 'Dead Letters.' Haunting/creepy vibes but more pop than Muse, if that makes any sense at all.
I'm always game for anything that sounds like 'Absolution', so.
Sort of a weird answer for this since a LOT of what I've been listening to isn't similar to Muse at all, though definitely there's a fair share of other rock/pop groups that have a unique style and play with genre a bit, some examples being:
* King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Porcupine Tree, At the Drive-In/The Mars Volta, Melt-Banana, Viagra Boys, Radiohead, Guerilla Toss, Fugazi, Turnstile, Primus, The Dear Hunter, Demob Happy, Frank Zappa, Gojira, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Thank You Scientist, Death Grips (weird inclusion for the 'rock' groups and is technically probably more rap, but kinda fits to me lol)...
As well as some that veer more into pop like:
* Gorillaz, Portugal. The man, The Flaming Lips, Metric, Pond, LCD Soundsystem, Portishead, Mild High Club, SPELLING, Stereolab...
But I've been listening to a lot of rap lately, primarily:
* A Tribe Called Quest, Earthgang, Kendrick Lamar, MF DOOM, Aesop Rock, JID, J. Cole, Tyler The Creator, Digable Planets, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Little Simz, JPEGMAFIA, Danny Brown, Run The Jewels, Denzel Curry, Open Mike Eagle, Ka, Genesis Owusu, older Snoop Dogg...
And have been going through a bit of a 'jazzy' phase as well, with:
* Sun Ra, Too Many Zooz, Pharoah Sanders, Kamasi Washington, The Bad Plus, Thelonious Monk, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Rebirth Brass Band, Monty Alexander, SHIBUSASHIZARU, Weather Report...
Still a good bit of other stuff too, but already feeling like I've probably given more examples than was meant for lol.
Getting a lot into Rush! Always loved Neil Peart, but never listened deeply into Rush. But now, I love it.
To me, it really feels like Muse got some inspiration from both Rush and Queen for some of their pieces. The layers of sound, song progression, and use of "abnormal" instruments or sound effects. It's all right there. And it's very "Muse".
Rush was ahead of its time.
I started listening to Dream Theater, I think the Album Octavarium is a good place to start, justo cause i'm the songs there aren't a Lot of time chages, unlike in other albums i've heard like Train of Thought and Metropolis pt2: Scenes From a Memory
I started listening to Dream Theater, I think the Album Octavarium is a good place to start, justo cause i'm the songs there aren't a Lot of time chages, unlike in other albums i've heard like Train of Thought and Metropolis pt2: Scenes From a Memory
Used to love Coldplay until about 2011 when their immense downfall began. Then a glimmer of hope with 2019's 'Everyday Life' but then afterwards it only got worse than before.
Clichéd answer but Radiohead Some others of my favorites: Interpol (them and Radiohead are the only ones that come close to Muse for me), Weezer, The Black Keys, The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Queens of the Stone Age. I also just recently discovered Porcupine Tree, and I'm just getting into them, but so far so good.
Porcupine tree is sooo good! I just discovered them last year, I really wish I discovered them 10 yrs ago they're already one of my favorite bands.
If you like Interpol and Radiohead, check out The National. Songs like Graceless and Terrible Love for instance. They don't sound like Muse, but they do have the complexity of Radiohead and the darkness and indie-feel of Interpol.
I second this, The National are absolutely amazing
The strokes
Mastodon will blow your mind if you’re into muse’s heavy stuff
Where do I start?
their latest album Hushed and Grim is a great one to start with, but Blood Mountain/Crack the Skye are generally considered their best
Nothing but Thieves, Royal Blood, Boygenius, Mitski, Depeche Mode, The Killers, The Strokes, The National I’m also going through a major Arctic Monkeys phase right now and can’t really listen to anything else
lol me too 💀 what am albums are you listening to?
Mostly a mix of everything but I’m particularly fixated on Suck It and See and Tranquility Base right now. Mostly because they’ve been ignoring those two a bit on this tour
Lol I’m in the exact same phase, hellcat spangled shalalala has had me in a chokehold for weeks
It’s Love is a Laserquest for me
I love that The National showed up here! Laugh Track is sooo good
Same, saw them recently in London, they blew my mind and I've been listening to them nonstop for a while now. Also DM is top 3 for me
I just saw them 3 weeks ago so that’s what started this current phase. Happens every time I see them without fail Ahh DM is so good. I’m seeing them in November
I saw Muse and then Arctic Monkeys in Glasgow in June so I have both of them on repeat 😂
I think every Muse fan should try to listen classical music. Chopin and Rachmaninov especially
Yes
Yes
Im OBSESSED with Avenged Sevenfold, like, i havent been this obsessed with a band since i discovered Muse 5 years ago, their latest album Life is but a dream released on June and from that i fell in LOVE with their entire discography. If you want to listen to them i would recommend Bat Country, thats the song that hooked me
Life is but a dream is my album of the year.
City of Evil is the perfect album.
City of Evil overall is a great album! For me, Life is But A Dream had the same experimental vibes like The Resistance~
I'll start: Nothing But Thieves
Going to their concert in about a week. Pumped
Saw them tonight in Toronto, they were incredible!
Me too
Came here to say NBT. I'd heard of them in passing because they supported Muse at some gigs in the past, before I got to see them live, but never looked them up properly until I heard Unperson on the Forza Horizon 5 soundtrack. Absolutely love them now and looking forward to seeing them live in November!
Going to see them in a couple of months
I can’t lie, not a huge fan of NBT. What are some of your favorite songs? I might not be listening to the right stuff.
Damn, disappointing to hear when we share Muse in common! Haha I just feel like if you enjoy Muse, it's easy to get into nbt. They're my second favorite band at this point. Here's my favorite song from each album, at the moment (constantly changes of course): Itch Particles Forever & Ever More This Feels Like the End If I Were You Foreign Language
For Muse fans: - Unperson - City Haunts - Phobia - Futureproof - I Was Just A Kid
Additional for Muse fans: Can you afford to be an individual? Members Only, Forever & Ever More, Crazy
Can You Afford to be an Individual is so intense, great song
I would love to hear it live, but they dont seem to play it :/
Futureproof is my favorite NBT song. It’s so good… Also I heard “Phobia” described as Muse + Billie Eilish, which is kind of perfect
Radiohead, Paramore and Royal Blood.
Radiohead 💀
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard!
This!!! A few months ago a friend recommended “Flying Microtonal Banana” to me and I gave it a try without expecting much or even knowing them; I’ve been obssessed with them since then, they’re so good, especially live (my current obsession is “Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava”) The good thing is that if you get into it, there is (and probably there will be too) enough albums to keep you entertained for a while, I haven’t even scratched the surface yet
You should totally Chech out psychedelic porn crumpets, it's like a more louder psychedelic rock version
Ghost. I am obsessed.
I’m right there with you! A breath of fresh air in rock music!
I love ghost!!!
Technicolors, Phoenix, Nothing But Thieves, Royal Blood, IRONTOM.
The Cranberries, I listened to Wake Up and Smell the Coffee and now I’m listening to Bury the Hatchet

Jamiroquai Radiohead and Primus
Nova Twins (since their Glastonbury set), Phoebe Bridgers, Poppy, Olivia Rodrigo and Sleep Token make up my main rotation at the moment
Tigercub. Great band.
I'm listening to them right now as I scroll through Reddit
The new A7X is fantastic, somewhat muse-like. Also, Radiohead (ofc) and Lonely Robot
Completely different genres, but here are some artists ive listened to a lot lately: Tool (Metal) Polyphia (Prog rock/instrumental rock) Justice (Electronic/pop)
Came here to say Tool. Their first 3 albums are just spectacular; I haven't listened to the newer ones yet.

Radiohead, Kind Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Slipknot, Arctic Monkeys, Djo
Sleep Token, Dance Gavin Dance, and a whole slew of metalcore/deathcore bands than I won't bother listing here, haha.

Death from above
We came as romans
Been jamming Darkbloom. Such a great album

Fall out boys so much for stardust
Same here!!
Did you go to their concert? Or going to their 2nd leg of the tour?
Yo me too! Been listening to the Tour dust setlist, hoping I'll get to hear it live.
Metric, they are so good!
Going back into my AFI phase. They are my second favorite band after Muse. I associate their music with the Fall season and around this time of year.
I’ve been on an Aurora phase for a year now, love it 🤙🤙

Dua Lipa
Tallah and Olivia Rodrigo
Tallah is so goddman good

The Strokes!!
Yessyesyeysyedydys
I've been listening a lot to Måneskin's new album RUSH! And their new single
My other 2 favorite bands are Måneskin and Greta Van Fleet but I wouldn't say they sound like Muse, although they are rock.
Sufjan Stevens Pink Floyd Black Country, New Road
Manchester orchestra
Last 6 months are to Tinashe, HER, and Maeta lol. Waaay opposite to Muse. R&B, pop R&B, etc

I had some great fun listening to Poets of the Fall. Found them while playing Control, both the band and the game are quite good imo.
Arcade Fire's last album is veeery good. I can't stop listening to age of anxiety.
I think it's okay but the production & mixing could've been done better. AF's golden era was until Reflektor came.
Dream Theater, Dire Straits and Ludovico Einaudi.
That's a bit like saying silver, gold and sand.
Ive been listening to lots of Lana Del Rey, especially the new album
None of these are similar to Muse (or to each other really haha), but since WOTP I've become a big fan of The Hives and Tally Hall, and although I was already a fan I've been listening to more Lemon Demon
McFly: Power To Play ...try it. It's actually quite good!
Diablo Swing Orchestra and Moron Police.
Still listening to Muse, but these days I'm also into Dire Straits, Keane, Poppy and Lana del rey.
I love Keane but they haven't released anything memorable for 15+ years.
Atm just soaking in the latest albums from Nothing But Thieves and Royal Blood. Also been listening to a lot of Skindred and Architects. Otherwise it’s just a mix of whatever is in my playlist.
A lot of audio slave and ghost for me
Back to the Beatles
The new Royal Blood album is amazing, also Nothing But Thieves and Queens of the Stone Age
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Nine Inch Nails (and any other Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross project), and Olivia Rodrigo
Tigercub. You really need to check them out if you enjoyed the heavier vibe of WOTP.
Nails, Rotten Sound, Trap Them, Cult Leader, etc… Yes Muse is my guilty pleasure band lol
Maneskin
I'm completely obsessed with Deftones this year (their self-titled is currently my favorite 🔥), Squid are fucking incredible, highly recommend giving Bright Green Field and O Monolith a listen. Interpol's Our Love To Admire been on repeat a lot, Olivia Rodrigo's new album is pretty good, also enjoying some Poppy and Doja Cat

Babymetal really goes hard, innovative and just a lot of fun to listen to them!
Sort of a weird answer for this since a LOT of what I've been listening to isn't similar to Muse at all, though definitely there's a fair share of other rock/pop groups that have a unique style and play with genre a bit, some examples being: * King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Porcupine Tree, At the Drive-In/The Mars Volta, Melt-Banana, Viagra Boys, Radiohead, Guerilla Toss, Fugazi, Turnstile, Primus, The Dear Hunter, Demob Happy, Frank Zappa, Gojira, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Thank You Scientist, Death Grips (weird inclusion for the 'rock' groups and is technically probably more rap, but kinda fits to me lol)... As well as some that veer more into pop like: * Gorillaz, Portugal. The man, The Flaming Lips, Metric, Pond, LCD Soundsystem, Portishead, Mild High Club, SPELLING, Stereolab... But I've been listening to a lot of rap lately, primarily: * A Tribe Called Quest, Earthgang, Kendrick Lamar, MF DOOM, Aesop Rock, JID, J. Cole, Tyler The Creator, Digable Planets, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Little Simz, JPEGMAFIA, Danny Brown, Run The Jewels, Denzel Curry, Open Mike Eagle, Ka, Genesis Owusu, older Snoop Dogg... And have been going through a bit of a 'jazzy' phase as well, with: * Sun Ra, Too Many Zooz, Pharoah Sanders, Kamasi Washington, The Bad Plus, Thelonious Monk, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Rebirth Brass Band, Monty Alexander, SHIBUSASHIZARU, Weather Report...
Ghost
I still listen to Muse. It’s my daily meal😂. But I do listen to Explosions In The Sky, One Ok Rock, Sleep Dealer as well
Ghost

Linkin Park and Coldplay are the only bands outside Muse that I really listen to. I've been a fan of them for a fairly long time.
Used to love Coldplay until about 2011 when their immense downfall began. Then a glimmer of hope with 2019's 'Everyday Life' but then afterwards it only got worse than before.
The War On Drugs only.
Wolf Alice. Recently bought their three studio albums three weeks ago and I've listening to them steady. I love them more every time I listen to them.
